  1. No major legislation passed (until this week), no major campaign promises kept, poll numbers the lowest in modern history, ect. He's doing grrrrrrrreat!!! 2. You don't have to downsize. Ever. Many people do, some do it too fast. Some of those pay a high price for that choice. I'm about your size, 160 lbs "stepping out of the shower", and I jumped a 190 from student status to about 200 jumps. Then to a 170, where I've been ever since. Little over 500 jumps now. No plans to go any smaller. None. I've spent my time on crutches (not skydiving related), I've seen too many people get hurt and I've had a couple close calls that could have been a hell of a lot worse had I been on something smaller. I'm also over 50, and I don't heal as fast as I did when I was younger. The 170 is "sporty" enough for me. As was noted, "too conservative" is a lot, lot safer than "Not conservative enough." 3. There's also the fact that the probability of something like this staying secret for very long is just about zero. Sooner or later (likely "sooner"), someone involved would find it abhorrent enough to "drop a dime" on it. There would be too many people involved in it for it not to happen. Staff, secretary, maybe even a janitor. Kinda like all the leaks coming out of the White House. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. Are the lines to the back of the canopy the only ones on the back half? That's what I think I see from the video. If so, it won't "flap" the back half of the canopy, it will just pull down the tail. It won't add thrust, it will add drag. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 5. Really? You don't think your values as a "Christian" should impact how you treat others? You think that because "culture is...controlled by Satan" that you can treat others in any way you please? Does the idea of a "culture war" mean that others who haven't "found Jesus" hate you and you can do to them what you wish? Helpful hint: Many people don't hate "Christians" because of what they believe", they are hated because of their hypocrisy - Look at Ray Moore. Sexual predator, liar, all around "scoundrel", yet loudly proclaims his "faith". Clearly a "CINO". Or should you actually follow the teachings of Christ? And treat others in the way He suggests? ALL others, not just the ones who look like you and think like you? As Jesus suggests. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 6. Hey, he may be a pervert, but at least he's not a Democrat. Well, that's basically what both Kay Ivey (AL gov) and our Cheeto in Chief both have said. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  7. Well, apparently somebody is upset about the tax plan. (note to the humor impared: It's satire) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  8. I would hesitate to give a "newbie" a reserve that small, regardless of the main size. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  9. Umm, what exactly do you mean? Thats a little scary..... Recirc tunnels use the same air over and over again. They don't bring fresh air in and dump it out the top. In theory, any "airborne" viruses would remain in them and you would be exposed to them. In reality, not so much. You are more "exposed" in an airliner than in one of these tunnels. If you are really worried, don't get in the tunnel immediately after someone who's obviously sick. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 10. That question is nonsensical. It is not what corporations are for. Employees are valuable resources, and expensive to recruit and retain, but the goal is to spend as little as needed on them. That is one of the ways capitalism works. Sure. I don't fault the corporate execs for those decisions. They are going to do what they can to help their businesses. It is far, far more illustrative of the idiocy of both the Republican party and the "middle class" voters who put them into place. The Rs along with Trump and his minions keep touting how much better off those "ordinary people" will be because the businesses will spend so much of this money from the tax cuts on their employees. Gary Cohn was apparently taken aback at how few were actually planning on doing that. Kinda funny how the President's Economic Advisor knows so little about, you know, how businesses and the economy actually function. 11. That is turning out to be the case, more than I would have expected. A bunch of corporate execs were at a gathering and were asked how many expected to use the tax cut to benefit employees. Only a few raised their hands. Apparently, Gary Cohn was surprised. Dianne Feinstein has stated that the Ds introduced an amendment to require employers to use those tax savings to benefit employees at the same rate as stock buybacks and dividend increases. And of course, the Rs said "No." So much for "trickle down." "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 12. 11.7 million for bail. On the surface, it would appear to be sufficient to keep him from taking off. BUT... It's real estate. Property. If he jumped bail and fled the country, he'd likely end up abandoning them anyway. Hmmmmm... "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 13. Well, all the conservatives claim (falsely) that Obama increased the deficit more than any other president. Trump can't let Obama be #1 at anything. He has to make it "more bigly" than Obama did. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  14. Well, given the way Trump has systematically destroyed the State Dept, this isn't at all surprising. Trump has no clue how important diplomacy is. One of many things he's clueless about, but this one is big. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 15. Well, the Caravan was introduced in 88 (?). How long did it take for FedEx to depreciate one out and sell it? I don't expect to see it while I'm still jumping, but it's nice to know there is something out there that will "trickle through" the system eventually. 16. Ok: Right patella, vertical crack, appx age 30 when injury occurred. Left Tibia, nasty complete break about 1/3 up, with a spiral up and down from the break, appx age 28 Right Tib, Fib, and growth plate smashed in from both sides (crushed under a horse, actually) appx age 15 - that's why the growth plate wasn't fused yet. Several bones in the left foot (don't ask me exactly which ones or what their names are) broken from a sudden up lift of the front of the foot (landed with my toes on an edge - don't do that), appx age 12. No surgery on any of these. No pins, plates or screws. Just set and cast and wait. Hope this helps. Any specific questions, feel free to PM. 17. The Constitution needs to be amended to include more qualifications (or laws enacted to codify long-standing traditions -- put in writing the "unwritten rules"). Since it's "impossible" to separate the person from the brand, this candidate should not have been considered eligible to run (blind trust rules and all). I would like to see as well some kind of experience qualifiers put into the rules. No, I'm not saying I'm qualified to spell out what those limits should be, so let's not get into a flame war over this. However, the issue certainly rates consideration. I'm not sure anything needs to be re-written or codified or anything like that. The Emoluments Clause is pretty clear. Short version: No conflicts of interest. It doesn't need to be any more clear. If a person has conflicts, especially with foreign governments who are not friendly to the US, they can't serve as President. It doesn't matter if they won't divest those interests, or if they can't. Trump seems to be a combination of "can't" and "won't", but in any case, is in pretty clear violation of the clause. He never should have been sworn in, and IMO, should have been impeached on Jan 21st. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 18. Nah. They were surfers who jumped now and then. Ya want a real jump movie, watch "Cutaway." "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  19. Well, Andrew was only holding on with one hand. He also was looking very relaxed and unconcerned. Focused, but he clearly wasn't working very hard. As noted, you made them look very good. You made their job look very easy. I"ve seen some AFF videos where the instructors had to work very hard, had looks of horror on their faces most of the jump, and did very well not to lose control of the student. Congrats and on to the next one. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  20. Same thing, more or less. Not my choice, but that's ok (both the men and those particular cars). I like the fact that Johnny like the GTR the best. The least expensive, least "exotic", yet probably the most fun to drive. It's a real beast. I know a guy who has one, and has done "just a bit" to it. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 hp. Apparently the Porsche Turbo wasn't on the list that day. Too bad. Lots and lots of fun, but the physics can make them a handful. The Ferrari & Lambo can also be unforgiving if pushed too hard. The Merc is supposed to be a really nice setup. Looks like a fun time. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 21. There are a few guys on here who like to jump vintage stuff. You might start a new thread on it. My understanding is that as long as you know what you are dealing with, understand the limitations of the gear and aren't jumping something dangerous (bad design, the Nova comes to mind), then go for it. 22. No, not really. Here is one reference. http://www.crisismagazine.com/2012/frank-marshall-davis-obamas-communist-mentor-on-the-catholic-church He attended and was married in a Liberation Theology Church. That ideology came up of South and Central America sponsored in the beginning by the Soviet Union. And, we all have seen how he bowed to the Muslims, how he refused to call them Islamic terrorists, how he favored Ramadan over the National Day of Prayer, the list goes on and on. Yeah. Right. Sure. Obama was so determined to "destroy our way of life" that he completely failed to do so in 8 years. Thanks for proving Gowlerk's point. Your hatred is rather obvious. 23. Not always; it depends upon the laws of each particular state. Jerry Baumchen True, but almost all states require unanimity for criminal cases. Federal law requires it. Louisiana and Oregon are the only two states that don't. There was a case that the SC declined a few years back about it in Louisiana. Civil law is a whole different set of rules. 24. Well, a good place to start "effecting the change in leadership" is to elect people who can actually lead. Not electing people who are con men, frauds and sexual predators. Unless that sort of "leadership" is what you actually want. There are lots of "moral standards" that can be used to decide if someone is "moral enough" to serve. There's ten of them in that book you like so much. There's a lot more in the later parts. The teachings of Jesus are pretty "moral". But again, those standards have to be actually applied to have any effect. Excusing the behavior of someone, claiming that accusations are just "fake news", saying "I know he's a sexual predator, but he's better than a liberal" are not ways of getting people of good character in office. Unless, of course you consider Trump and Moore to have "good character" and actually want them in office. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 25. Some interesting answers, and some good info. Discussing this with the folks at your DZ is your best bet. My suggestion on landing in the "wrong" place is don't. Landing out is not landing in the wrong place. Trees, powerlines, fences, into the side of a building, water, that sort of thing would be a "wrong place". And (with certain exceptions), it's usually avoidable. Some DZs have limited outs. Some have directions where the outs are fairly far away, with nothing close (SDC has virtually no outs to the east that are close, for example). Choosing an alternate (and choosing to use an alternate) is best done early. The earlier you realize that you won't make it back, the more options you will have. Waiting will limit your options, waiting too long may eliminate any good ones. It's a good idea to have some idea of what you would choose for an out before you jump (see the "driving around the neighborhood post"). Most DZs have an aerial photo for DZ briefings. Those will give you an idea of potential outs, but always discuss this with the briefer. Some places that appear usable from the pic aren't in reality. When landing in an unfamiliar area, avoid any 'straight lines'. Ditches, roads, field edges (one type of vegetation to another). Those are all places where fences and powerlines are very common. Keep in mind that fences and powerlines are often very hard to spot until it's too late. If you do land in a tree, or hit powerlines and get hung up, STAY THERE. Far more jumpers are injured or killed from falling while trying to get down than during the landing (obviously, if you are hanging in the tree, a foot or two off the ground, this doesn't apply). This topic makes for an excellent Safety Day discussion. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
