Madera is a pretty cool little C-182 drop zone.. It is at the Madera Municipal Airport. North on 99, west on Avenue 17, turn left (south) toward the Highway Patrol office and the large warehouses. Hey, I just drove through Palo Alto last night.. It took about 3 minutes driving north on the 101. Then another 3 minutes driving south back from the San Fran airport... Here is my 2 cents.... This is not meant to start a war about the RSL debate or stir up differing opinions about "getting stable" before reserve deployment.. I jump with a RSL attached. I use it on my Tandem jumps, and I use the RSL on my personal rig. I do not wait to deploy the reserve. I complete the cutaway and then pull my reserve ripcord - because the RSL is (in theory) doing that same thing. That is MY decision and it works for me... Others may differ in their opinion

I usually have them help if we're jumping the 400+ canopies (what can I say, I'm lazy) We have a bunch of 330's and a couple of 365's at the DZ. They are easy to steer and flare and fast enough that I don't want a student "helping" me at the wrong time. Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!!
