  1. Or doesn't want to give credit to something that Al Gore invented. The only thing Al Gore has ever invented is Al Gore.
  2. As in, to have control of the oil supply. Maybe the idea needs re-phrasing. It's not about taking oil, it's about controlling the world's oil supply and the economic strength that goes along with that control. I thought you were asking how we were going to pay for the war? Didn't you post something predicting the negative impact the war would have on the U.S. economy? Now you say taking over the oil fields is a bad thing? How can it be a bad decision if we take control of the oil fields, sell oil to the French and Germans at vastly inflated prices and use whats left over to give a major tax cut to the U.S. taxpayer? After all, we have been supporting a large part of the worlds poor and undeveloped countries for so long, it's about time we got somethig back. "It's not about oil, it's about tax cuts".
  3. In the final analysis of this situation: 1. Ed Scott never even bothered to contact me even though I call him twice at USPA and left a message and sent him an email, which he never responded to. Thanks Ed, nice to know you were there to lend a hand when a paying USPA member needed your help. 2. Cliff Schmucker and I corresponded with a few emails. He was going to look into it and get back to me. He never did. Thanks Cliff. I'll remember you when my 1994 Cypres needs to be replaced. 3. Delta Airlines still insists the Cypres contains "compressed gas" and to date hasn't done anything to assure me the situation has been corrected. I sent my Air Miles Card back to them with a nice letter explaining how I wouldn't be able to give them my business again because of this incident and their attitude towards skydivers. I also gave up a credit of $225. from a problem I had with them last April where they lied to me about what steps needed to be taken to use the credit and then denied what they told me after I returned (I was also hasseled on that trip and was lucky to be "allowed" on the plane). I'm done with Delta, they are done with me, Oh Bla dee... Oh Bla dah.... life goes on, Oh.... tra la la as life goes on.................
  4. It was all explained here about 2 weeks ago. I guess you weren't paying attention. According to Congressman Jim Moran [D], one of our favorite liberals, it's because the Jews run everything and they are pulling the strings of their puppet, George Bush. Thats about as believable as "It's all about Oil"
  5. Not to worry. Once we go in and take over the Iraqi oil fields, we can sell the oil to the French, Germans, Russians, Chinese and N. Koreans at vastly inflated prices. This will give our economy the needed boost and will actually give us major surpluses so all Americans can retire. Ahhh.. how sweet it will be when America takes over the world. I never had a French Butler.
  6. Spot on. Problem is most "peaceniks" are so caught up in their own ideology, they are easily persuaded by those in the world who would wish America ill will. Like Pavlov's dog I'm afraid, but the food contains poison. Twist the questions to fit your answers. Obfuscation is your friend until it betrays you.
  7. Many predict the recent arrests of Al Qaeda Leaders will accelerate any plans for terrorist acts they already have planned. Do you think we should stop arresting Al Qaeda Leaders because of this fear? No. But arresting criminals is not the same as going to war. Same premise. The reason we are going into Iraq is in essence to "arrest" Saddam Hussein. Hussein is in violation of U.N. resolutions and has broken the Cease Fire agreement he signed in 1991. They will be considered "enemy combatants" as long as the war is in progress and "terrorists" after Iraq's defeat. Once they become terrorists, they will be considered criminals. Hopefully a strong enough pre-emptive strike will reduce the number of potential terrorists. I suspect, based on what we know from past experience about the Iraqi Militarys' resolve to fight a war, it will be over very quickly. I have no doubt there will be attacks in the U.S. but that isn't a reason not to go to war.

  9. Please tell me your profile isn't correct.
  10. The key here is "nothing has changed that timetable". This is a false premise. Much HAS changed the timetable including GWB going back to the U.N. for yet another resolution, Iraq agreeing to destroy their Al Samoud2 missiles, and at least Iraq's facade of co-operation with U.N. Weapons "Inspectors" (actually Detectives would be a better word). Perhaps Saddam is the benefit of an O.J. Simpson defense by France and Germany? "If your cities not hit, you must acquit".
  11. So you're saying it's all about oil! Heh, heh, nice try Kallend!! Did you hear the Queen of the Looney-Left is supporting Bush? http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/69808.htm Guess there's still some hope. eh?
  12. Thanks for starting this thread in Talk Back. Now we can post condolences here instead of in Incidents. My sincerest condolences to all who knew them. BS/BD Bob
  13. I also get a kick out of those who whine about the cost of going to war and how much the long term cost will be. After the Gulf War in 1991, 80% of the 80 Billion the U.S. spent was reimbursed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Remember, Iraq is not without natural resources. I'm sure going to enjoy filling up my SUV with that $.49 per gallon Iraqi oil. Hmmmm......... I kinda like that idea.
  14. I seem to recall it differently than you do Quade. Wasn't it the Republicans in Congress who dragged Bill Clinton and the Democrats, screaming and kicking, into a balanced budget during the 90's?
  15. Sounds like the Peter Principle at work here.
  16. We agree on something Kallend. (grasping my chest) I think the best way to get rid of the lefties is to pay teachers a lot more. This will definitely attracted more intelligent people who tend to be more right leaning. GREAT IDEA !!!!!!!
  17. I have about 300 jumps on a Triathlon 150. My first canopy was an original Sabre 170. I got rid of the Sabre after 50 or so jumps as it was hard to pack back then for me and I got my teeth rattled a few times. The Triathlon IMO is an excellent canopy for a newbie. It's very easy to pack even brand new and is a very stable canopy when you encounter turbulence. It is NOT a very good canopy for swooping, but you shouldn't be doing that for a while. It has a good flare and it very forgiving when you make a mistake ie. flare too high, learning flat turns etc. I did find mine to have fairly high front riser pressure at my wingloading of 1.35:1, however other who jumped it at evn higher wingloading said they though it was fine (perhaps I need to spend more time at the gym). I haven't jumped a Spectre so I can't help you there. Bob
  18. I remember years ago when they officially retired the Blackbird, they flew on from San Diego to D.C. in about an hour. That would be about mach 4 and that doesn't mean that's as fast as it can go. I also remember comedians saying it would be a great Yuppie Airline to have a couple of them.
  19. Interesting thought Bill. Since the American Left was largely responsible for preventing drilling in Anwar, and since the Hollywood left is to gain from all the coverage of the war............hmmmmm
  20. Andy, I am not trying to give you a hard time on this but I want you to consider the difference in the writing between the Salon Magazine article and the one you posted from Reuters. Reuters article is rich with quotes from many in the British Gov't: It quotes Foreign Minister Jack Straw, Chris Smith, a former Blair Admin. official, and Labor MP George Gallaway, and Tony Blair. The salon Magazine Article quotes only one source other than the writers opinion: "For a long time, only France was proposing to use the European Union as a counterweight to the United States," says Georgetown University professor Charles Kupchan, who served as a foreign policy advisor in the Clinton administration. "Today, that idea has been adopted by virtually everyone." Why, with all the sources within the British Gov't did this writer choose some obscure Professor at G.T. Univ., who was a former Clinton Admin. official? Thats why I said what I did about Salon Mag. I never said the substance of the article wasn't true, but i think if you read the Reuters and the Salon, you will see the Salon is mainly an opinion piece in which the writer referenced one obscure source (wonder why she selected that particular one?)and the Reuters is more of a news piece.
  21. Actually, that article came off the AP wire.Quote Then why did you post the link to Salon as a news source? The article also say it is a Salon Premium Exclusive.
  22. Salon Magazine, Huh? You think thats a good unbiased source? A magazine which is so far left it's filing bankruptcy next month because nobody reads it?
  23. Are you looking for something other than Pro-pack instructions?
  24. http://www.aerodyne-int.com/sport/default.asp click on Support then packing manuals
