Where did you hear that from? Humans did not evolve from any modern ape, but we did evolve from an ape (humans are great apes along with with chimps, gorillas and orangutans). We all have a common "ape" ancestor. I may wrong, I'll double check it when I get back from school just make sure. But don't take my word for it, look it up.

I disagree, for the most part it's pretty black and white. People who believe in human evolution believe that modern humans evolved from apes. Those who don't believe in evolution believe that humans did not evolve from apes. I'm not an expert either, human evolution is a topic that interest me so much that I've visited a few places like Dmansi and some other interesting dig sites.

I've also heard a few arguements from your fellow "all or nothing" Christians that Skydiving is a sin because we are putting our bodies in an unnecessary risk for pleasure. Again, by your standards - How can you be a Christian and Skydive?

I agree, but correcting them is useless. I remember in my sociology class the professor asked a show of hands of who all believed that men has one less rib than women. Half the class raised their hand. But like most people (including myself) that choose to accept the truth, it has to start somewhere. Whenever someone argues against human evolution and brings "monkeys" into the debate.....well, I tend to end the arguement right then because they obviously have not researched either side. Modern humans, genus = homo, species = sapien, did not evolve from monkeys. We evolved from an ancestor similar to modern apes. But I really would not call it an "ancestor", I reserve that name for our lineage within modern humans, as in same species. But that's just me

True, however, the point of citing the POA is not to make uber-patriots out of kids, it's to lay a basic foundation for having pride in one's country. Note where I said basic, when they get older they will start to do their own thing, and that's fine. What's wrong with that? We all have reasons to be pissed off at policies, presidents, laws, current/former governments, politicians, etc... but let's not let that interfere with teaching our youth the foundations.

Yes/unaffiliated. What's wrong with national pride? We're not talking about socialism with missle parades and daily mandantory radio announcements. We're talking about instilling a sense of pride for one's country, a pledge. The Pledge of Allegiance, imo, is not about political parties or one's opinion of the government.
