i know there is a jumper at cleveland sport parachute that has a prostetic forearm. he puts a U shaped attatchment on that he can pull his reserve handle with. he only has a right arm. his gear looks fairly normal otherwise..maybe someone there would know more about his situation..www.clevelandparachute.com Blue Skies! I have 4 tandems...the first one was a currency jump for an instructor and i had like 200 jumps, the next 3 (jumps 494-496)were actually only like 2 weeks ago for people at my dz that needed some victoms..uhh passengers...to get their ratings. I had a very similar experience one with my mindward. It was a friday afternoon about 2 weeks after I had just received my 1st new helmet. I was doing a two way out of the otter from about 14,000ft. I also forgot to buckle my chinstrap and at about 13,900ft my helmet went flying off of my head. i spent the rest of the jump hitting myself on the head thinking about that $180 helmet that I would never see again (i couldnt see it in freefall) and looking down to see that we were over a farmers field a bit away from the airport. After i landed i was walking in towards our hanger telling another jumper on the load what had happened and some people that had been on the ground the entire time looked at me kinda funny. One of our regular jumpers walked up to me and was like "oh, that was yours?!" I was confused by what he had said, but he clarified it for me. Like usual, the jumpers that were on the ground were watching us in freefall. they saw my helmet but thought that someone was jumping a spaceball or something. It then became aparent that it wasnt going to be retreived..the WHACK!!!! A loud bang makes everyone inside the hangar jump. My helmet has landed. One of the jumpers kids went over to the side of that hanger and got my helmet and had brought in to the hanger for everyone to see. There is nothing wrong with the helmet except a barely noticable smudge in the Bonehead sticker on the back of the helmet. I know that i was lucky that my helmet didnt kill someone, but i sure am glad that Steve Stewart can give a damn good spot! So thanks to Bonehead and a great spot, I still have a helmet! I was at Richmond "THE" Boogie last year and LOVED it! Jumpin with Jerry Bird and Billy Webber all day and partying at the bonfire every night was lots of fun. People from all over coming together to do what we all love so much. I highly reccomend that anyone that has never experienced Richmond give it a shot. Bring a tent, backseat, or RV and join the campground! :) Richmond is just sooo fun. :) come say hi! The grand caravan we have at richmond is a 'super cargo master' version. it has a slightly larger interior than the regular grand caravan so thats why it takes 19 jumpers. there is a lot of prop blast simply because it goes directly along the fuselage and not further out like an otter. it is a good plane. our door is a couple inches different than an otter door. you can float 2 on the front step, 3 in the door and 1 on the camera step. they are a little bit more tail sensitive than the otter, but as long as everyone pays attention, its a great plane! :) there is a picture of our caravan on our website www.skydiverichmond.com Blue Skies! Richmond is a fabulous home, err i mean dropzone. Since i started jumping a year and half ago, i have met so many awesome people at Richmond. The jumping has been top notch and the parties just as good. with a full time grand caravan, THE Boogie, and great people, there isnt anything else i could ever need. Come by and check us out! You will like it.

had no problems in february going cinci to texas. there were lots of us jumpers that went and i dont think anyone did. best bet is to try to put it in a bag that looks plain so. dont wear skydiving stuff. most dont even notice the cypres(kinda scary huh?) have fun on your trip! Blue Skies! Mary

valerie this is mary from richmond (and lake wales). I am sorry about the pilot thing. the pilot was suposed to be there. the weather wasnt too bad i know but our pilots have other lives and sometimes things come up that make them late. there were loads flown later in the day. I have been jumping in richmond since my first jump. I have never been to xenia so i cant say anything about it. All i can say is that I have heard good and bad things about the place. Fridays in April are definately not a good show of what richmond has to offer. stop by on a saturday and see what we are all about. i would love to get some jumps in with you, even though I cant freefly for shit :) I dont know who you heard talking shit about xenia, but all i can say is that i know that some of our people have had less than pleasant experiences there and with people there. that is not the feeling of the entire dz. I am sorry that you had to be there when things were said. But to everyone reading this, please dont think that we at richmond hate other dzs. we are going to have a great year regardless. we have a full time grand caravan that kicks ass! we have many jumpers that are looking to have some fun in the sky and on saturday night.
