  1. I don't have much, but I'd give everything to the person I love to help them out, or to just simply do something nice for them. It's just how I am and I wouldn't think twice about it. Whether they reciprocate monetarily doesn't matter to me, there are other ways they can also show me how they feel. As long as what you do comes from the heart and not to compete or show off or anything like that I don't see anything wrong with it.
  2. Congrats to her! There's a DZ in Chester, SC I believe - which isn't very far from where you'll be. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  3. How heartbreaking! However, I am so happy Minu found you and was able to truly know in her life what it is like to finally experience what it is to be loved and cared for, even if for too short a period of time! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  4. I am so very sorry. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  5. I read the title of this thread and told myself not to open it - I just know it's going to be about someones beloved dog! I sit here in tears typing this, as I don't know how you do it... you just do. I have my Keenu's ashes - I need to still have her with me. I am so sorry for what you're going through! Fezzik had a GREAT life because of YOU - just keep that with you always. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  6. Yeah, thanks! It's been a long road... but hopefully one I'm back on track of! I'm about 1.5 hrs away from the dz... and realize that had I started years ago I would've been within 30 mins or so of two; both in NY and when I lived in SC - ah well, guess things happen for a reason! As far as gear - I only purchased a helmet, goggles and altimeter after I made a few jumps. I'd use the dz's for the first few if I were you and their jumpsuits - I'm sure you'd hate to tear up anything new. (Plus, you don't really know what you want/need as of yet.) Yanno, if you really cannot wait - you can always take the fam on vacay in the south and do one of those A license in a week things. 7. Congrats on your first jump, Glenn! I think I saw the pics on FB! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  8. You listed a used item as is with no returns! (Not sure what you stipulated your refund policy was, or if you did.) Anyway, that's the chance one takes when they buy used items off eBay, especially electronic items. It now doesn't work; did it get messed up in transit, did the buyer screw it up somehow, is he being dishonest about something? You made him a damn decent offer and he refused it! I've ALWAYS seen it listed to return an item would be at the buyers expense, this is NOT new - I'm not sure I would continue to worry about it anymore. It sucks it happened... Good Luck! 9. If you practice Yoga for 'you' time - then it should be about that, YOU! Women go there for them as well, not usually to bothered by getting hit on. I don't think you should attempt picking up women there as they will just see you as 'that' guy who is trolling for a date. 10. Here ya go! I should've just done this the first time around ... LOL! How do I obtain a copy of my national criminal history record? Individuals can obtain a copy of their national criminal history record from the FBI. In order to receive a copy of your FBI record for personal, employment, or international work requirements, please visit the FBI website, http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htmfor more information. 11. I used to work for a background investigation company so I was hoping I would be able to help, but the more I read your replies I may be confused. GA is requesting the National Criminal History Record? Isn't that (in their terms) an FBI fingerprint check? From their own website regarding criminal history checks that's what it eludes to, but of course I have no knowledge of your field of work and what is/should be requested of you. I attached the link anyway - the section regarding NCHR is towards the middle or so of the page. Hopefully if any of this isn't useful I didn't waste too much of your time - remember, I tried to be helpful!
  12. I just sent my Galaxy off yesterday for similar reasons. I'll let ya know how it turns out when I get it back.
  13. Yeah, I would. It's for their safety and for the safety of anyone they come in contact with. Just this morning driving to work... a little old lady was in front of me, she could barely see over the steering wheel. She was at a complete stop for a right hand turn at a green light. (It was green already as we approached, so there was really no need for her to stop at all.) She just sat there, like she didn't know what to do, then proceeded slowly driving 10 mph in a 40 mph zone. It would be in her best interest for someone to probably do the same for her as well. 14. Poor Cooper! I don't have any experience with this, but was told by my dogs vet that it would be something I'd possibly have to deal with 'in the future.' (He's a small shih-tzu bichon mix, who's had back problems already, unfortunately.) I know they give it a grade from 1-5, and usually by 3 is when surgery is recommended. Did they happen to mention a grade at the vet? I'm not sure if supplements help, like glucosamine, etc. I had a chow years ago that had bad hips and they gave her a series of shots called Adequan; again, I'm not sure if anything like this helps in the knee though. It's such a good thing lil Cooper was saved by you! Best of luck - I sure hope it's rather mild and stays that way so Cooper doesn't have to ever be in much (if any) pain.
  15. That's awesome you adopted the lil guy! People suck that abuse/neglect animals - but finally he's with his forever home! Congrats to you both!!!! Definitely let the spoilage begin!
  16. I had a case of the spins in C - I refer to that as the CAT from HELL! All the "relaxes" and "smiles" - even singing a lil song before exit and after just didn't always quite get it enough for me to pass. The wind tunnel really helped me; it really allows you to feel the air and adjustments you can and cannot make without worries of watching your alti. I highly recommend going there if you can as repeats are certainly costly, both for your bank account and confidence. If you really just cannot go - try the singing a funny little song and just truly relaxing. Stick out your tongue at your instructor - more toe taps - slow, deep breaths maybe? Good luck whatever you decide! You'll get passed it!
  17. Hang in there... you'll get it done! Some of us just take longer in the initial stages than others. I'm finally going to get current again on the 31st! Been a series of unfortunate events for many months, but it's finally time to get back to it. I hope to then never have to worry about getting 'recurrent' again! Best of luck to you!
  18. Wow! Just reading all this makes my teeth hurt! I don't have any real advice for you as you can see I don't have much when it comes to skydiving experience, but I'd just take it easy for a bit if I were you. I have had a horribly sprained ankle before (several times actually, non-skydiving related), which the last time required months of PT and it still isn't quite right. The teeth issue, I'd be scared of risking injuring them further to be honest... and that I'd be focused on them (the pressure of altitude may cause increased pain I'd imagine?) instead of the jump, but that's just me. Heal quick! Good luck whatever you decide!!
  19. You're absolutely correct, though every decision we make is a gamble! Ultimately you have to be happy where you are. The OP stated they wanted to move to be closer to their family... I'm assuming no family of their own (spouse/kids), so now is the right time to make these kinds of moves, rather than later on in life when it gets more difficult to do so. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  20. You're young... if you wish to move out west, you should probably just try and do that now. If, for some reason it doesn't work out right away career-wise you have family you can fall back. (Worst case scenario here) Long are the days of having to stay with a company until retirement... granted, you don't want to job hop excessively, but you do have to do it to increase your salary. (I'm in the DC area and that is what is true here at least and in my experience.) You are still young enough in your chosen profession it will be normal, if not expected, for you to move around from company to company until you find the one you want to stay with for awhile. Good luck whatever you decide!
  21. Hmm, I was very late in updating to IE8 (obviously -LOL) but it started happening to me right after I did, so I just assumed it may have been tied to that. I guess now I know it wasn't. I was using Bing! as my search engine and now that I've stopped I've had no more redirects... so I'm not sure where the problem is exactly. I need to email my bro-in-law I guess and ask him. (He's a computer guy - I just hit keys and hope it all works out! ) If you find out what it is, please post back... Good luck! 22. I had just switched to IE 8 and noticed the same thing happen to me; I use Malwarebytes and McAfee and everytime it shows nothing to clear. I deleted IE 8 and went back to using IE 7 and it still was happening, so I stopped using Bing! as my search tool and the redirects have stopped. I thought I was going crazy, sorry to say, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who was seeing this sort of problem. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  23. I think they do a tandem progression - 2 or 3 tandems working on the same skills before you move on to 1 AFF instructor. Someone chime in if I'm totally wrong... "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
