  1. Well, I'm sorry to hear that... good luck with whatever is going on... hope thing's get better soon! As they say, the sky will always be there!
  2. Funny how you posted this, as I was just doing searches for the Benny to try and get some opinions on it.
  3. YAY! Congrats! In just 10 days you'll know exactly what it feels like to no longer be strapped to anyone... hehe!
  4. Well, how'd it go? Please don't let one repeat make you think it's a sign this sport isn't for you... hell, I've had to repeat levels - and so have MANY others who now have thousands of jumps! Do a search - you'll be surprised to see it's more of a norm then those who sailed through on first try! So, the suspense is killing me... 5. Actually, FWIW, admission is free... as most museums in DC. However, I agree... I know places close as a sign of respect to honor people - but in this instance - you are correct, the piece o garbage got what he wanted so-to-speak. They should've remained open and setup a donation basket, etc. for the fallen guard. "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  6. Friggin amazing! You ROCK! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  7. OMG! YAY! Congrats to you... ! Can't wait to get home so I can check out the vid. You are such an inspiration! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  8. Congrats! You jumped from a plane for the first time... don't beat yourself up! Don't look at it as failing a level... look at it as having another opportunity to build the skills required to make you a better and safer skydiver in the future. Reflect on the positive things you did on that dive and take the suggestions on what you need to work on your instructors gave you so that next time you can be more aware of what you need to focus on. This shit ain't easy... but it's so friggin worth it! If you ever want to read my 'opportunities to try again' pm me... hehe! Congrats again chica... you did something most people can't even imagine doing and lived to write about it! Now that's something! 9. It was amazing! Got to jump twice... CAT B and CAT C1! It IS so much better not being strapped to someone. I was worried I wouldn't find the student landing area and thought I'd be terrified under canopy (the canopy flight was NOT my fave part on either of my tandems) but it is friggin incredible when you're by yourself and I had no trouble either time finding where I needed to be! I can't wait for you get to jump... I'm so excited to hear about your experience.
  10. Homework, lessons so the kids can prepare for their horse show on Sunday (YAY for them) then hoping to pass another AFF level or two (weather permitting). Hmm, this is just about the same thing I did last weekend and the weekend before... I should probably look into getting a friggin life! 11. Hiya! Welcome! It certainly is addictive, eh? Good luck tomorrow... can't wait for you to post back and let us know how it went! As far as the pic... under your profile, on the upper left is an upload pic button - click it and then upload whatever file you have saved. (Size may matter, not sure on that) Anyway... have fun tomorrow! If you thought the tandems were fun (I surely did)... just wait until your first AFF. 12. Welcome and have fun on your jump on Sunday! Hopefully you're jumping because YOU want to and not due to peer pressure from your friends!
  13. I've not yet had my 'epiphany' ... but I can't wait, the suspense is killing me! SkyIsLove... congrats on the tandems and making the decision to continue through AFF... I'm on C1 and loving it! Good luck! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  14. Absolutely amazing! You ROCK - a true inspiration to all of us... thank you for sharing!
  15. Welcome and congrats on the tandem! Good luck with your AFF progression... I just started mine and I can honestly say there's nothing like it!
  16. Sending out some positive vibes for your friend (and you)... hope she heals quickly! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  17. Homework... volunteering tomorrow with the cutest kiddies ever helping them learn how to ride horses, then getting up VERY early and hoping to get my CAT B over with (and passed, of course) so my nerves can get under control. Hope your dad is ok!
  18. I used to live on the phone both talking and texting - ex lived far away and all. Now, I'm rarely on the phone - talk to my sis in NY and grandparents some... rest of the conversations are short, friend convos at work. Got me thinking now, I should prolly lower my plan since I never use my minutes...
  19. Great blog and jump - Congrats!
  20. Heh... My sis says you're going back? Why?!? Can't you be happy ya did it twice and let's not talk about this anymore. LMAO! She doesn't get it... however, my very old Nana in a nursing home suffering from terrible alzheimers - doesn't remember much of anything (I wasn't about to tell her my Aunt did I think) SHE thinks it's wonderful and mentions it whenever we talk - go figure! LOL!
  21. Thanks, but it was a no go... friggin winds! Least I did ground school and got 2 quizzes out of the way, so next Sunday we'll try it again. (Or if the weather is nice Friday) The nerves are really starting to kick in though.... "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  22. That was awesome... thanks for sharing! I'll let ya know how mine goes tomorrow! "One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar" ~ Helen Keller
  23. Congrats on your first jump!
  24. Hiya! I'm sorta in the same situation as you... I did my first tandem - some fear obviously (as I had never thrown myself out of a plane at 13, 500' LOL), but not like I thought I'd have! I did a second tandem (CAT A) and really wasn't that nervous, though was a little slow to start the dive... practice pulls, etc. The two tandems were less then 2 weeks apart, but due to finances my next jump is almost a month form my last. (It's tomorrow) I don't know if I'm afraid simply for the fact it's a true AFF jump (not via tandem) though I don't really feel worried about the door or freefall - right now, anyway. I am, like you, more concerned of flying the canopy since this is the very first time I'll be doing this ALONE! Maybe it's just fear of the unknown? Maybe it's the fact too much time has gone by from the last jump? I dunno, maybe since we're new to all this these are all normal fears to experience... but since I'll be going before you (hehe - lucky me) I'll be sure to post back on my experience. I just keep remembering how amazing this is and how truly peaceful jumping is to me ... I have full trust in the instruction I'll be given so I know the jump will be terrific!
