  1. It depends on how the person is when I'm corresponding with them, you get a feel if they're genuine or not. Common sense really. I've bought and sold with people on dizzy and it's been fine and I've also dealt with a couple of people who I knew for a fact were trying to rip me off. Plus, coming on here I know who the regular people are and who are not.
  2. Congrats, just in time for christmas
  3. That's really cool, congrats and looking forward to seeing the video
  4. Yeah I think I know what you mean. I got some of those skate board trainers with the thick soles, made a bit of difference. Maybe worth a try?
  5. Great design suit, very nice colours. I like the two piece suits for when it's hot and you can mix and match too. ps I can relate about the extra wing loading
  6. Shit, sorry you got laid off bro. My misses got the same bad news yesterday and she's seven months preggers, that's now both of us out of workAll you can do is look for something else, lots of people in the same boat.
  7. haha I do that as well. It seems like every morning I look in my rear view mirror and see GMC looking back at me with a tiny little women peering over the steering wheel, phone glued to ear So you 2 intentionally antagonise fellow road users, potentially creating a dangerous situation. That's smart driving for ya You'd know all about driving wouldn't you squeak. Go on, analyze that.

  9. Them why are you continuing the conversation? What the fuck is it with certain people on this website? I'm here sharing stuff with like minded people who I like to consider my friends. Why do you feel the need to be snotty? It's funny how when I'm face to face with people they don't say shit, but when they feel then can hide behind their keyboard they can be funny. I'm sharing some information, in a polite manner, with somebody in a similar situation to me. There's no more to it than that. It might be helpful to him, or it might not be, the main thing here is being friendly and treating people how you want to be treated.
  10. That's a really good, informative dvd. Also these are really good fun, children of the corn, soul flyers, money meet 2008 (which is FREE), good stuff - that's probably the longest with the most variety, the remedy. There's others I've still yet to get but all those are good. I have been recommended "learning to freefly" dvd's but I've yet to purchase those, next on my list for sure. Hope that helps.
  11. Yeah I agree with what you're saying. I rented a 260 (not sure what the model was) and found that it came down reasonably fast, with a poor flare. Another one of my rents was a spectre 230, due to the fact that it was zp material, instructor recommendation. Vast inprovement over the 260 with a greatly improved flare. I found it a little fast/aggresive for my liking and was recommended the sabre 2. Anyway, tried the sabre and found exactly what I was looking for, however - and some people may laugh at this - but it can be fast/aggresive. It seems to come down "floatier" than a spectre, which I prefer. Just a point to note which I found in my searching for a learner canopy - above 230 it's difficult to find zp, but I found a 230 zp slower descending and a better flare than a 260 f111. Anyway I hope that helps.
  12. Well sorry to come off as argumentative, that wasn't what I was trying to do and I can only speak from my previous experiences, but I never had a supervising instructor after AFF/coached jumps. Whether that's right or wrong I don't know but if it is you can call Perris Valley Skydiving School and take it up with them. As for it being a "good" experience, I don't mean good in the sense that he could have died, but good in the sense that he learned from it, and in future he will be sure to double check. Fuck me, you can't say anything on this fucking website without somebody trying to act like the know it all.
  13. I'm (near as damn it) the same height and weight as you (only I'm better looking). I got a sabre 2, 230, and I find it great. I thought at first that it might be a bit too big, but really, it's not. I find it to be a great all round canopy, for learning on especially. Had I known how much I would enjoy it, I wouldn't have hesitated at all and I'm really glad I made this choice. Only drawback, or not depending on which way you look at it, is that it can be a bitch to pack, as it's ZP and big, however, I've been told that if I can pack this I can pack anything. So hopefully that's true, as I'm down to 40 minutes pack time now - compared to 3 hours. I'm not even joking.
  14. Dood... G4, what's to think about.
  15. At 22 jumps you can jump solo. After AFF you need, well I had to do 5 coached jumps, but I was cleared to jump solo. I was taught to do my own gear check AND ask someone for a gear check too. This is a good learning experience as he'll always remember it and make sure to check, double check, and get someone else to check too.
  16. What's the difference between going down on a woman and a speed camera? When you go down on a woman you can still see the cunt behind the bush
  17. Tipping is one thing - tipping AND valet parking, WTF?? A few nights ago it cost me $10 for someone to get in my car, drive it 100 yards and park it?? AND I am expected to tip on top of that. a, I don't even want somebody parking my car. b, I don't particularly turst them with my private shit or trust that they won't ding it somehow. That's just the way it is though, another way top get money out of people. It makes it worse that I'm a Brit and we can park pretty much anywhere without valet. I read the disclaimer on the back of the ticket which basically says if anything goes missing or it gets dinged it's the owners problem and not theirs - no surprise huh? Bah humbug.
  18. Yeah definitely skate board shoes, I tried running shoes and then switched to skate type shoes and found the thick, rubber sole was very forgiving on harder than usual landings - great for me as I'm a fat bastard anyway.
  19. Like my friend above says, the SIM is a great place to start. Just to get you going I'll drop some idea's your way which I think will be useful to you. Ask about things such as landing patterns, what are they and at what altitudes, what is the difference between F111 and ZP? What is the difference between 7 cell and 9 cell canopies. Are reserves the same material as the mains and do they work the same way? What is an AAD and how does it work. Ask about turbulance, thermals and dust devils. Ask about wing loadings, what it means etc. Does a rigger need to be certified? What is the FAA and what role does it play? I'm sure there's loads more things you'll want to ask as you get more involved in it. I have a funny feeling this post is as much making friends/networking as it is anything else, which is useful, skydivers are a good source of information - both good and bad! Just to add - learn about how to handle different types of emergencies - always useful
  20. We got smoke everywhere and ash falling like snow, seems to be clearing up a bit now, the air is rancid.
  21. OH boy all the above sound good, which is exactly why I'm a fat bastard (that and beer). I have a liking for Indian food (and do a pretty good tikka massala and karahi). I do all the cooking in our house, my wife loves it, at least I think she does. Just discovered the slow cooker too - stews, beef bourguignon, soups, hmm...
  22. I'm a similar size to you @ around 210/215ish. I got a sabre 2, 230 (I wanted ZP rather than F111). I planned on downsizing as and when the time came with the plan to lose weight, if anything I've put weight on though, I can't see me needing anything smaller for a long time coming and to be honest I don't think I would ever sell this canopy, rather just buy another one IF I ever did downsize.
