  1. Dude... I'm serious... That's not even funny ; )
  2. I've followed Chris Colwell for the past few years as a subscriber on youtube, although I've never actually spoke to him. His story is one that films are made of. It must be one of the most varied lifestyles ever, from being (one of the best) freefliers in the US (if not the world) to his traveling lifestyle now (he hangs out with the royalty of Saudi Arabi) - He actually does more as a quad than most fully able'd people do in a lifetime. Very interesting (and adventurous) personality.
  3. Thanks Dave, I figured it must, well probably must be, that - at least now I know for sure ; )
  4. Purely out of interest but, in a nutshell, what is the difference between different riser lengths? I've researched old threads but they become confusing when people start talking about swooping - or maybe that's answered my own question to a certain degree, or maybe it's purely user height, ie reach, or something that simple. Either way, it would be interesting to know...
  5. I was going to be sarcastic and say he actually solved it too - and then he DID... lol...
  6. I wish I was young enough to even go to nightclubs, lucky barsterd...
  7. I don't know if this is useful to you or not - or anybody for that matter, but www.skydivingmagazine.com has a really good sale on dvd's at the moment. There are some called "freeflying Basics" or something like that. They are a series of videos that explain in detail freeflying techniques starting with backfly, then sitfly etc etc. I have never seen them but thought it might be useful to you. Hope it helps
  8. Well the difference is that very young children (and young teenagers) need guidance and direction moreso than say an 18+ year old who has already left home, has their own apartment - ie, their own life already. I completely understand that my wife/any wife (or husband for that matter) would have a problem with their other half if they were skydiving on a regular basis with young kids. It IS a dangerous sport - I totally get that. The thing that brought this up is that a while ago I had a few friends round - one who asked me if I would take him to do a tandem, without thinking about it I said yes... (Oh let me add in that when I stopped jumping my wife told me that she didn't mind if I jumped occasionally - just not on a regular basis - ie a tandem now and again would be ok). Any way when the above subject came up it was met with disapproval - no probs to be honest, whatever, UNTIL I said I wanted a gopro. This reignited the skydiving debate. I have no plans to even go skydiving anytime soon?! However I can't see it being so bad if I did a tandem with a friend. I really don't plan on sneaking off behind her back although, if I'm going to be honest, it did occur to me, but then that's kind of a slippery slope - besides how would I explain it if I broke an ankle or something... speaking of which she has been skydiving with me, once... and nearly broke her leg, couldn't have made things worse to be honest. But, like somebody said earlier (I forgot who), yeah I do resent the fact that I'm "told" what I can and can't do - the worst part of all that is that I wouldn't be jumping any way and she'd be getting her wish! Either way I really do miss it and I've been thinking I can still feel "involved" by having a few minutes in the wind tunnel every now and again - it's sooo *ucking expensive though. -Just to add, I will bring the subject up again in a calm and mild manner - no time soon though, it's too fresh right now, maybe in a few months, I'll play it by ear. (sold my rig too, arghhh).
  9. so you are being deceitful to your wife (and mother of your kids), and looking for validation on here Squeak, I've spoke to you before on here and found you to be an internet warrior - you talk shit on the computer cause you don't think we'll ever be face to face - I'm calling you out right now. Seriously, this is not the first time you've talked shit, so if you wanna get down let me know and I'll see you - Yes I'll calling you out openly...
  10. lol... I know - I was irritated at the time. Still am. I had to sleep on the sofa last night - she's still not speaking to me?! Ahh, Jeeeeeez... OH DOH - just got it - pole, wtf?? Idiot (me, not you...)
  11. Not against somebody that uses the "N" word, not on a public forum any way - and especially not against somebody that says "why I "appose" gay marriage... you can have your private beliefs but he ain't gonna make friends spouting that shit... just speaking about "gays" and "N's" - even on a saturday night drinking session says loads about your personality...
  12. I was gonna ETA - he must be on meth - but saw your post - lol...
  13. Couldn't be arsed reading the whole post (any of it actually) but that's oppose, not appose - speaks volumes in itself...
  14. This is the best part about skydiving - turning up at the DZ, Perris in my case, not knowing a soul and meeting some of the most coolest people ever. Two things I found about skydivers which I believe to be true: 1, They are some of the most self righteous people ever, seriously, but that was obvious I suppose, and 2, They are actually some of the most nicest people too. Anyway, I digress... but - oh just to add, I'm not planning on jumping with a camera or even taking up skydiving again anytime soon - I actually agree with my wife that skydiving with young children (for me) is not a risk I want to take - but the point was my wifes objecting to my wanting a gopro camera. I want the camera regardless of skydiving - this is what I was trying to point out to her but that led into skydiving and snowballed from there. Did it cross my mind that at some point in the future I could use it for skydiving? Of course, just like it would you! Either way I guess it just pisses me off that even the mere suggestion of ANYTHING skydiving related in any way what-so-ever causes a huge row. - Also just to add (well as it stands right now), I fully intend on skydiving again one day when the kids have flown the nest. Oh just one more thing to add - when I did the pole I (well... was drunk) and honestly thought it would be inundated with a majority of "hell no, I would never do that", but there's more of you out there that do shit without telling your wives than I thought!! wtf - I told you skydivers were weird!!
  15. Calvin - I have no idea what the **** you're on about - but, boom selecta if you poked that - hats of to ya ; ) ETA - spelling "on" correctly...
  16. The reason I ask is because I - "we" got into a huge argument tonight about skydiving because I asked for a "gopro" camera - and my wife asked "why?'. - Yep (she was probably right) it's towards skydiving one day but, however, no time soon, just putting it out there (we have a one yr old and a two yr old) - so I totally get her being against skydiving). Would it so bad just to do it anyway? (I've actually already done this a few times without her knowing - that was before we had kids). I guess I just fancy the idea of (even just doing a tandem) and some lunch, just spending some time around the DZ. Is that so bad? -(Just to add, I probably already know the answers to this - I just miss skydiving a whole lot and wish I could do the odd jump now and again).
  17. Happy birthday, hope you have a great day
  18. My wife HATES that I skydive, hates that I talk to skydivers online, hates anything to do with skydiving. My mum thinks it's stupid to put your life at risk. I just had a baby, 4 months ago which makes it even worse. My friends think it's naff. The only people who like it are the people I speak to on here and at the DZ (other skydivers). Unfortunately I can't share that I managed my first sitfly today, which is kind of a shame, having said that I totally understand why they don't like it - it IS putting your life in danger, that's the reality, the only problem is that I became kind of obsessed with the whole thing. I always think - just one more jump and I'll leave it at that...
