  3. I just checked your profile. Your home dz is Raeford. You are in the right place. Definitely go to the tunnel. I am surprised your instructor(s) have not suggested that already. Good luck. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  6. I like that! I very much disagree with this... this is a part of what a Coach does, but the pre-jump instruction (TEACHING the objectives of the jump, TEACHING the non method specific portions of the first jump course. Post jump it is the job of the coach to review the skydive and immediately apply any additional instruction needed to make the next jump successful> I'd personally say teaching is a pretty big role of the coach. And while being able to give accurate feedback is a one aspect of being a coach, I would disagree it is the MAIN aspect of a coach. I don't think I worded that very well. I more or less meant that in air, that is the job of a coach. My comments were directed more towards the flying abilities of a coach, not the teaching abilities. It goes without saying that a large part of a coach's job is to prepare the student for the jump. This entails teaching the skills that are required to complete the jump, but just as importantly to get the student mentally prepared and ready to succeed (confident, excited, and sure of the dive flow). Ok... that I agree with!!
  7. Have you done a kiss pass jump?! Find yourself a sky chica and tell her you want a kiss pass jump on your x jump... I am sure she will be happy to oblige :) I love kiss passes :) Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  8. I am in Indiana and have a couple of Ocean Kayaks (don't let name fool ya - great for lakes and rivers). I have a scrambler and a scupper pro... In your price range and a great all around kayak. My 9 year old has the Kea and we all absolutely love our kayaks... http://www.oceankayak.com/kayaks/single_kayaks/scrambler.html Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  10. Smart girl! I will see you out at Start on May 21st. I will eb there the weekend for the Mid East Skydiving League (MESL) meet... my four way team is competing there that weekend. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  11. And for clarification I said I can blend in when needed: pass as normal. But then again it's all relative like: Sanest in the mental ward Funniest in the accounting office But looks are not everything Tell THAT to Paris Hilton Shah! Fixed it! 12. No, you are not ready. Not at this point in your skydiving career. Don't rush it. You are still learning to apply skills to your own skydiving. You are not ready to learn how to teach someone else. Last summer a guy at our dz was gung ho to take the coach course at 100 jumps. I have been an evaluator for three coach courses now and tried my best to prepare him. I had to sit down and tell him he wasn't ready... it led to a lot of resentment and he took the course but never received his rating. (Money wasted if you ask me). If you want to be a better skydiver don't take a coach course to do so, take a skills course (weather it be canopy or belly skills or something of that sort). Start Skydiving in OH (not too far from you) is offering several skills courses this summer. Spend your time and money on that. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  13. Who wants normal anyhow... that's boring!!!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  14. Dude that has got to be the single DUMBEST statement made on these boards EVER and there's some seriously dumb shit posted here... Well done that man It's not too often that I agree with Squeak, but yeah, that has to rank up there with the most idiotic statements I have ever read on here. +1 Just to add I think skydiver girls are not your "typical" girls. Unfortunately Shah tries to put us all in the "typical" category. I never dreamed of a wedding when I was a little girl. Not once. I did it once (against better judgement) and it wasn't fancy by any means... the skydivers drank and got naked... and was fun. But I don't see myself doing it again. A piece of paper does not make a commitment... two people do. edited for spelling Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  15. When a girl sees that, that's when the little voice in her head says, "run away, run away!" Thus proving Skymama is all knowing!!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  16. I don't think your going to have to worry about this any time in the near (or distant future) Shah.... just a hunch. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  17. This has been a very informative post. I think there are several good points that have been made. Here is what I have been doing for about 2 months (maybe a little more) and it has resulted in about a 12 pound weight loss. I have been on a plateau for several weeks now, but I continue in my routine and am confident my body is becoming stronger and healthier (even if the scale isn't moving I am losing inches where I want to). I don't count calories. I do keep a food/exercise journal. I bought it from Amazon and I fill in breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, there is a place to check off water intake and vitamins/supplements and also a section on fitness broken down by cardio/weights. I fill this out every single day. It keeps me in check. Once a week I weigh myself and measure and record that (there is a section to do so at the end of every week). I do 60 minutes of cardio 4 days a week. I do 30 minutes of cardio plus a full strength training routine twice per week. Like Trophy said pick something to train for and that will motivate you to stay on track. I have completed two mini marathons (one in Louisville and one in Indianapolis). Find a race (start with a 5K) register and train for it. I'm only a couple hours away... would be happy to have a "virtual training buddy" for a common race. Good luck! And keep the posts coming. 18. Can we count Thursday as the start of the weekend?! If so then: :2: Made two fun jumps Thursday afternoon. I saw something that was a first on our slow climb to altitude in the C182. We had storms in the forecast for the weekend and the clouds started moving in Thursday afternoon. I saw a completely formed, rotating dust devil about 5 miles from the dz... we watched it cross to a farm house and then die off and another one would pop up. Freaky weird. It was like watching a mini tornado on the ground. I opted not to jump after that jump (which maybe I should have scratched but don't need to get into that). It rained the remainder of the weekend. We were supposed to do four way team practice on Sunday but mother nature stomped on that. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
  19. Must be the weekend for floods. I had a new hot water heater installed this past week and came home to my entire basement (finished) flooded. Apparently the new pipe burst (my thought is the guy didn't put enough glue stuff on it). But I spent the nice days this week cleaning up after it while it has rained non-stop all weekend. I think I am shutting water off while I am gone also... this was a pain in the tush... I am tired of all this wetness! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

  21. Wow... harsh. I would say a good portion of the working population "does not feel like working" on occasion. Doesn't mean we aren't appreciative or work hard at whatever it is we do. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
