  1. I know the %'s are very small on the scale of things but like i said i'm of the opinion if you arm yourself to protect yourself from a threat the threat[criminals] will take measures to to counteract your defense. i.e shoot first before you have a chance to access your weapon. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  2. Like you say it's just an opinion but what makes you feel you have a need to arm yourself is your neighborhood a warzone. Also if i was a criminal in the US given the right to defend philospthopy i'd remove the threat of being killed by shooting you first and then robbing you blind. Point is as i see it two way street the criminals feel they must arm themselfs just as much as you do and that can't be good. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  3. You're right about gun falalities there definately on the the rise within the criminal faternity drug dealers will always be willing to kill their rivals and imo the lack of border control within the eu has made it easier for criminals to smuggle guns in to the uk from the continent. However i dont see a rise in gun related fatalities within the general law abiding civil population and cannot see a reason to arm myself. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  4. Sadly there will always be the 'black market'for drugs/guns but making either more freely available imo will only increase the casualty rate especially where guns are concerned. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  5. No you're right wether you are stabbed or kicked to death you're still dead 236+124=250 thats 550 less dead people than were killed accidently in the US due to firearms alone. In a country of almost 60,000,000 people thats less than0.0001% of the uk population,so giving us all guns do you think we would[uk] be better off violence wise. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  6. Try any of the surrounding DZ's Headcorn[Kent probably the near],Sibson[nr Peterborough],Weston,Hinton etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  7. But as you can see the UK home office includes the use of air guns and as far as i know there was only one fatality in the last year where the slug enterred the victims brain via the eyeball. It's a pity the home office dosn't just publish the actual crimes commited with firearms,as it stands an air gun has to exceed 12ft/lbs[rifle]and 6ft/lbs[pistol] before it is classed as a firearm. Also how many offences are committed using shotguns which are still legal provided you meet the licensing requirements. Of the 22,789 2003/04 figures you quote i wouldn't mind betting very few were committed using handguns. My stance remains,if you[society]makes it difficult to own a gun,gun fatalities will fall. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  8. I know you're right in countries where guns are easily available it might be prudent to have a gun and not need one than to need a gun and not have one, like the gun shop owner who sold the gun to the assilant in the latest school masacre in the US said "there were 32 people who could have done with guns and didn't have them". Fortunately i live in the uk and find it highly unlikely that i will become a victim of gun related crime, but if i visit America can i borrow one of yours. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  9. Mmm multiple attackers with guns, then you're pretty much bollocked wether you're armed or not. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  10. Maybe we could give them free Tazers. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  11. They can fit better locks, alarms etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  12. So give the husband a gun and he can shoot the anyone who intervenes with his wife beating antics..smart. IMO making guns less accessable is a two way street,it makes it more difficult for a criminal to use a gun if he/she can't easily acquire one allowing the real men to protect themselves with their fists which imo is how it should be. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  13. This was going to be a year of remaining super current and focusing on my swooping, alas broke my back my back in march and have only returned to the air recently, much to the dismay of my osteopath..now i'm comfronted with freak weather..... .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  14. Dont know if you noticed but two of the men arrested were doctors working for the NHS,i wouldn't call them marginalised, something else maybe but not marginalised. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  15. Police now have four islamo fucktards[i like that term!] in custody well almost, burns boy Mohammed crispy iis in intensive care. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  16. Socio-economic reasons....sometimes i blame the media hype. Take ipods for example media makes them a must have and the have nots want to have, hence a spate of people getting mugged simply because of tail tail white headphones. I know the above is not the only reason for crime, drug dependancy, greed etc etc play a big part not to mention those that think taking is better than working for with regards to theft. But what about crimes that can't be attributed to socio-economic reasons, rape murder etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  17. I've seen blogs and such talking about an increase , but I've not seen any sort of statistics to back them up - that's why I was asking. *** I've looked at the uk goverments official web site but they tend to batch things into cats like violent crime and burgularies rather than specifics like burgularies, violent burgularies, muggings, physical assault etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  18. Your right i dont have the stats but i'm sure there out there and to my best knowledge i canonly think of two most recently last year infact a 1st devision foot baller household was robbed by guys armed with baseball bats and knifes no one was injured tho. I've been burgulled twice by the favoured means of making damn sure i wasn't at home. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  19. Now, did you have something to say about the stats I quoted, or that 'hot' burglaries would be a possible indicator that criminals have gotten bolder since the removal of homeowner's ability to defend themselves? *** No criminals havn't got bolder with the absence of legally held weapons as it was an offence to have a loaded gun in house pre 1997 any way. Hot burgularies are also extremely rare and the independant article merely stated that burgularies were up and no mention of an increase in violent burgularies tho your right they do happen The use of knives is on the increase predominately street crime muggings and gang related assault. A homeowner does have the right to use reasonable force if threatened the use of a 9mm probably wouldn't be considerred reasonable in any case [uk]. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  20. No need to,now go back and read the text. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  21. Then try reading it again this time not between the lines. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  22. Pre 1997 it wasn't exactly easy to own a gun..and it was only a minority of people who did,not for personal protection tho as the gun had to be locked in a wall mounted cabinet and the ammunition kept in a seperate locked cabinet. Dunblane completly changed my view on guns and gun ownership and although illegally held guns will always exist it is extrmely unlikely for someone to be involved in a gun related incident unless they subscribe to those circles predominately gangs/drug dealing. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  23. Are you mad...you obviously dont have a clue .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  24. Tazer might be a better option less paperwork maybe. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  25. I suggest you lose the .40 and get a tazer there's no arguing with 50'000volts either.edited to add that really would sting. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
