  1. If only we had the grace to see ourselves as others see us, Jim....If only.
  2. The company I work for has very high moral standards, really they do...I therefore see the test but only see wee red crosses. I can only imagine what sort of delights lie behind these. They also knock back e-mails that contain anatomically correct but nevertheless unsavoury phrases. I've had to buy a thesaurus to communicate with my construction guys! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  3. Okay, let not get hung up on semantics, its all just fun so far. What I'm kinda driving at is the premise that nearly all our standards are negotiable, their application is largely situation dependant. There are things I'm prepared to do for money/protect my family/uphold my moral standards. What those things are is largely dependent on the situation and the perceived outcome of action/inaction on my behalf. A moral cost benefit if you like. We don't live in a 'one size fits all' world, I therefore describe my morals/standards as negotiable. Under certain (lets face it, extreme) circumstances the end does indeed justify the means, but not always... Are you with me? Does it make me a bad person? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  4. Hmmm yes I see your point of view. Okay a similar scenario, a friend who you know utilises less than othrodox interviewing practices, (unpalatable to you, but nevertheless fruitful) comes across similar information to the scenario above and passes it on to you, do you act on that information? Even if it just to check out its authenticity, again maybe averting an event that could cost you dearly? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  5. Ooooh, hypothetical scenario. You have a bad guiy in the bag, you know he's up to no good so you apply some 'intense interrogation' techniques. You uncover a plot to fly a plane into a densely populated downtown area. You save 3,000 lives, avert a war and 10 years of civil disturbance in a far off country, but you compromise hghly held principles, nobody dies, everybody wins. Except the guy on the wrong end of a car battery.... But do the ends justify the means? Speakers corner in 3...2....1.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  6. I mean to what end? At work and bored..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  7. In the end, what does it all mean? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

Thats right, you'd never actually say it... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

  18. The following poem made its way into the national curriculum in Pakistan. THE LEADER by anonymous... Patient and steady with all he must bear, Ready to meet every challenge with care, Easy in manner, yet solid as steel, Strong in his faith, refreshingly real. Isn't afraid to propose what is bold, Doesn't conform to the usual mould, Eyes that have foresight, for hindsight won't do, Never backs down when he sees what is true, Tells it all straight, and means it all too. Going forward and knowing he's right, Even when doubted for why he would fight, Over and over he makes his case clear, Reaching to touch the ones who won't hear. Growing in strength he won't be unnerved, Ever assuring he'll stand by his word. Wanting the world to join his firm stand, Bracing for war, but praying for peace, Using his power so evil will cease, So much a leader and worthy of trust, Here stands a man who will do what he must. "The education ministry said it would remove the poem from the textbook and discipline the person responsible for including it. " http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4501132.stm Made me laugh, and of course, I thought of letting you guys know about it.
  19. "Apparently, if you look at a man's hand and his ring finger is longer than his index finger, that means he has a lot of testosterone and hence a large...uh...member" Poor ET, all alone and far from home..... Yup, you got me looking at my hand, and you know, from a certain angle under favourable lighting, dayumm.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 23. "Of course there's always the possibility we know he's dead but don't want to make a martyr of him. " Or maintain the spectre of his threat as some sort of phantom menace? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  24. Oh yeah, even more different looking money of the same value and legitimacy to even further confuse visitors! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 25. Another thing, many of those wee dropzones can put an entire load up of S/liners with only one instructor on board. I reckon you can do larger classes of s/liners as well. Makes financial sense for the DZO as well, especially ones with smaller aircraft. Merits in both systems, to be sure. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
