  1. “SRV's version of Little Wing is freakin beautuful, better than the original in some respects.” Yeah I love the SRV version of that one as well, I’d have liked to get hold of a version(if one exists) of the SRV plus vocals, JH’s vocals on the original are what makes it, IMO, but SRV seems to make the vocal element pretty much redundant in his version. Freakin’ beautiful sums it up for the SRV version though. On Voodoo Chile the SRV vocals are better than the original, more sharp and gritty, and the guitar work is better than JH’s sort of fluffy meandering, if you see what I mean.
  2. "i'll met you in the next world, don't be late. " I think Stevie Ray Vaughan's version is better than Jimi's. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 3. "This means I have to do everything from scripting to filming to editing." You could spend hours playing with transitions, I have! But for this project you should focus on getting the overall quality of the production right. Scripting and directing the filming should take up, most of your time, getting the 'format' of the DVD and its menu system right should be your next agenda, finally, cutting the whole lot together should probably not involve anything more than a cut and a cross fade (fast cross fades at that!). Maybe alpha channel wipes or rolls for credits. You may be to include things like picture in picture, commentary, animated graphics of statistics etc. These are a decent challenge in Premiere, if you are after a challenge. The DVD could include bios of the key staff, application paperwork, loads of stuff that may not necessarily be video orientated, the disc could be so much more than a vehicle for video, it depends on your project brief.... If you want to do some really funky transitions etc, I don't think a college prospectus is the right place. If you want to get funky do some pop videos or some skydiving vids.
  4. "The obvious one is that it is frozen. " And wet. Wet gas causes all sorts of problems once it is brought to the surface, its expensive to extract but not impossible. Hydrate formation pipework can wreck the process train if its not fully understood, every time you let the pressure down, such as flowing the gas through a chirtmas tree choke, the temperature will drop due to the Joules Thomson effect, any moisture will solidify and you have rock hard lumps flying around the process plant. Quite often when you have wet gas it is also sour, that is, highly corrosive, and probably high in hydrogen sulphide, which is quite nasty stuff to deal with as well. So not impossible to deal with, but expensive. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 5. "Or do we just wait and see what their next set of actions are?" Gets my vote. People way smarter than me have been trying to second guess Hamas for years. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 6. When I bust ny femur a while back, I taught myself video editing using Adobe Premiere during the layoff. Learn new skills and keep in touch with the sport.
  7. "Mark my words, the oil is all but gone." Mark my words, there is shed loads of oil left, its just unpalatably expensive to get out. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 8. "but could we - just this once - try to look a bit on the positive side?" Not just a no, but a 'hell no!' I mean what would be the fun in that?..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 9. "Naughty Bondage Fairies Whip Dick Cheney's Buttocks". Just for the sake of informed discussion I googled that. Halliburton's firewall denied me access. 10. Yeah, I just threw out that wee perspective as a bit of fun. I don't think anyone is taking the truce offer seriously, apart from some folks here. Folks are talking about OBL and thats what terrorists like. The taped message is double edged blade, its meant for the US and OBL's followers, so we need to bear that in mind when looking at what is being said. I would take you up on the assumption that some country is knowingly harbouring the bad guy though. Maybe Iran, but this is not their fight, and I just can't see Pakistan supporting him either, they are our allies in this after all and the repercussions would be horrible if anyone sussed them. I think he has gone to ground in Kashmir, which is a bit of a no-man's land. By the way, I like helicopters too, they take me to work, and more importantly, bring me home again.
  11. "err.. no idea what your on about." White pudding aka mealie pudding, mealie jerker or a virgin's delight. Deep fried oatmeal stuffing sausage kinda thing. Think haggis without the meat (or animal by products)! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 15. Ah the British contribution to haute cuisine...Pies.... What you guys refer to as pie is more like 'flan' to us. The most common manifestation of this phenomenon is a small pastry cylinder about 2" deep, 3-4 " diameter, with a pastry lid on it. They can be (and often are!) filled with just about anything. Where I live the 'Scots' pie is the most common, its filled with mince (ground beef). Locally I can get.... mince, steak, chicken, curry, lasagne, meat and potato, lamb, haggis. Also apple, rhubarb and gooseberry. These are normally eaten hot, so you don't want to be pied by one! The famous pork pie is a different animal again, different pastry and normally eaten cold. See also pasty, Forfar bridie, turnover, and sausage roll for variants on a theme. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 16. I'm about to finish 'The Algebraist' by Iain M Banks. Its not bad, but not as good as some of his 'Culture' based Sci-fi. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 17. The shiny disc on the CD player for the commute this morning was... Snow Patrol's Final Straw album. 'Run' is my current pic from this popular beat combo, but Chocolate and Spitting Games are good too..

  21. Lets pretend I'm a terrorist, guilty of mass murder, and reviled throughout 'the civilised world'. My actions have made history. I am the most wanted man in the world, ever. My followers are slowly being picked off, places for me to hide are getting sparse, basically time is running out. I am fed up living in caves, my camcorder is broken, and I missed the last series of West Wing. What should I do next? Hmmm, think, think, think.... I need more support.... Try to twist a peaceful religion to suit my personal agenda? Maybe sway a few normal folks to a more extreme position. Hmm, not enough, too few are listening. Offer money to to pay my followers and their families for their sacrifice? Money is always a good persuader. But I'm running out of cash, and its geting harder to use the old network of money transfers... Hmmm.. What would Gadaffi do? Ah, I know, I'll try and portray myself as a reasonable guy, a statesman even! I'll invite the Great Satan to some sort of talks, the world will see that I am not really that bad. I know the coalition will never attend such a meeting, or even take it seriously, but I have nothing to lose. I will be the one who is brokering a deal to end this madness, and the war hungry west are ignoring my efforts as a peace loving diplomat. People are bound to see this and again I may eke out a little more sympathy somehwere. The worst thing that can happen is my followers are given a timely morale boost, the coalition are again reminded of their failure to capture me, and further division will occur within their political systems. Pass the dictaphone, its the red button for record...right? I wish my camcorder was still working, dammit I should have bought a Sony. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 22. "although considering Israel would be the most likely target, it wouldn't require a missille" Actually I think its Israel that might be first to lose their cool in this scenario. It is entirely possible that Iran steps up their support for the Palestinians. I don't think its imminent, as the world is currently watching Iran, but its probably more likely than a missile borne first strike from Iran. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 23. The Taepo-dong/Shahab 4 variants have the range and payload capacity, but the Iranians are reputedly having system integration issues. The Shahab 4 systems are indigenous, Taepo-dongs are imported from your old friends. Rumsfeld sees them as a serious threat, so that has me worried.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
