  1. Same reason we have thousands of cops who spend 99% of their time writing speeding citations. $$$$ But that really does not compute. Speeding tickets generate revenue without the expense of jailing the violator. Makes more sense to legalize it, then tax the sales. Obviously, the people who buy and smoke it have the disposable income. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley

  6. That will never work...The ProTec is simply not 'cool' enough. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  7. Must be pretty easy. My GF rides a 2004 Road King Custom, and rides a lot better than most guys I see. I just taught her how to drive my standard transmission car. I find that women that take the MSF first rider course, and pass it without difficulty, seem to ride with a better 'head' on than many, many men I have seen that say, "Oh, I've been riding for years." and get a big twin. 8. It is my understanding that 'if', and a big 'if' it is, a black hole is created, it would be microscopic and extremly short-lived. Not much to worry about there. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley

  10. Sad news indeed. Scott always seemed, from the tv interviews, to be one of the 'good guys' in motor sports. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  11. Damn, this sucks. I only knew Frank for a short period of time, but he did touch my life. Blue skies Frank. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  12. Yeah, wow. So they didn't dry in completely after washing, started it up and this caused it to crash? "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  13. Impressive! You know most new A license jumpers in the US? Not disputing you, as I certainly haven't met most. I jumped my first un-assisted pack job on my 17th jump, also my first hop and pop from 3500. That was a big confidence builder. "I'm not lost. 14. Seagull, by Bad Company. The song itself never had a meaning to me until a couple of weeks after 9/11. I am driving in my car listening to a local classic rock station hear, 93.3 KDKB, and they play that composite with that song and some quotes of various people over-layed on the lyrics. Don't know why, but I had to pull to the side of the road and cryed like a baby for at least 5 minutes for all of the wasted lives. I had no connection to that tragic event, other than the one we all have as humans and Americans. Anyhow, that song now has meaning to me now and I get a tear whenever I hear it. "I'm not lost. 17. From CNN.com: May 29, 2008 Atmospheric freefall Posted: 09:18 AM ET As a meteorologist I’ve been fascinated by the French skydiver trying to jump from a balloon at 130,000 feet. Flying thru the stratosphere at the speed of sound with nothing but a skimpy space suit is just crazy to me. Michel Vournier dreams of breaking the freefall record were postponed again this week when his balloon flew off without him. Regardless, the whole story got me wanting to jump. So up I went with a plane full of other more experienced skydivers at Freefall Adventures in south Jersey. Going “tandem” with a pro attached to me for safety, we jumped at 15,300 feet (solidly in the troposphere). That’s about 600 mb of atmospheric pressure (surface is around 1000mb). So the breathing isn’t easy and I got a little light headed and cold (temperature is less than 40 degrees at that height). Doesn’t matter cause you’re not there for long, and once you jump the adrenaline erases any chill in the air. A quick acceleration to a peak speed of 138 mph and you realize Newton was right about this whole gravity thing! Wow what a ride!!!! At that altitude the air is thin but oxygen isn’t required… no helmet or space suit either. Tee shirt, jeans, and instructor Range Luda strapped to my back is all that was needed. Freefalling for 70 seconds was incredible… spiritual in fact. I’ve been on top of high mountains, but being that high with NOTHING beneath you is mind blowing. The view, of course, is phenomenal. All you hear and feel is the air rushing around you. You want it to last forever but the ground approaches quickly. At 5000 feet I pull the shoot and Range guides us to a smooth landing. It’s a rush to say the least. Admittedly this was my second jump, but the butterflies were swirling just as much as during my first leap 6 years ago. You say you like roller coasters, a nice view, and being buffeted by the wind? Well jumping out of a perfectly good airplane may be just the thing for you… just don’t forget to pull the rip cord!!! Rob Marciano CNN Meteorologist Actually, this comes off pretty good. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  18. I love the new 'Last Post' column when you can click on the latest post and view it right away. This saves time if you are following a particular thread. Is there some way that you can also display the last user name to respond? That way, if the last response was from someone that you know never posts anything usefull, but always tries to make lame jokes or posts something like, "Years ago I blah, blah, blah". There are several threads I am interested in and when I see new posts to them, I love being able to view the latest, but there are some users that I know like to post, LOTS, but never actually say anything. Thanks and keep up the great work. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  19. What's that hanging between his legs? Part of the parachute rig or leg wing? Wonder how/if the airlerons work? "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  20. Thanks again Scott for the loan of the suit. Had a great time, met some great people and learned a LOT! You and Juan really did great on the coaching, organizing and skills you taught us. The major thing I learned was to ALWAYS be aware of your situation in the sky. All of my other WS jumps, before the event, were solos and jumping with others was major fun, but also a huge diffenence in that you need to know your position in the sky in relation to the others. I plan on staying focused on WS flying and, with the things you taught, work a lot on my exits and speed control. Once I can do all of the exits you had us doing properly, every time, I will start to fly with others again. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." 21. In the December, 2007 Parachutist, the last D number issued that is listed is 29098. So that means roughly 250 issued so far this year. Average of a little less than 50 a month. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  22. Thanks for the link. I will give that a try tonight. I am using ParaLog. I have a demo now, and have every intention of purchasing, once I know I can download from the GPS. Speaking of ParaLog, does anyone know if it can download from an L&B AltiTrack? "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  23. The converter I bought, the KeySpan High Speed Seial Adapter, is one of the more expensive ones. I know the adapter is working, as it comes with a utility and I can see data flow. "I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." Mathew Quigley
  24. Anyone have one? Have you been able to download tracks on, say a laptop with only USB ports? I have a Keyspan serial to USB adapter, it shows up as COM4 but the device is never detected. I do like being able to put the forward speed on display though.
