  3. Not true, only "legal" for just 6 hours. Are the 100-150 jumps required to enroll in one of the FJCs really that high? There is absolutely NOTHING wrong using PROPERLY rigged SD gear off that object. No it is not. He was jumping a "safe" base rig, FYI.   5. I don't like pullouts hence I don't like the Sigma release system. Also on other systems the two main releases are fully independent while on the Sigma they are not. A harder than usual pull on the Sigma means firing the reserve into the drouge like it happened in Japan and killed two people. I like the skyhook thought. I dislike immensely the cheap construction of the container and the hardware used on their student harnesses. As for the main is a good canopy but the toggle pressure is on the hard side and it's a bitch to pack. Great reserve. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

  11. I would like to hear the opinions from EXPERT WS fliers about the wing cutaway system. Here is my 0.02. The wing cutaway was originally implemented in the very first “modern” WS as well as the first production WS for two purposes: Hook up the suit and to offer a way to release the wings given the still novel “environment” of WS. Over a decade has passed since those early times and IMO the cutaway system the way I see it is now primarily used as a hook-up system only. Many experienced BASE jumpers report that is faster to unzip than to release the cables. As for the leg cutaway system, with the newer trend of wider leg stance it’s very possible to land the canopy with the legs still fully hook-up. So here is the question: Do you really think a arm wing cutaway system is really necessary (other than hook-up)? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

Here is what he was trying to convey: Having seen that many of you always seem very eager to jump in the city, tomorrow I’ll be day-blazing all day in the honor of Christopher Columbus who discovered according to him India but turned out to be this country. The winds will be light and variable and they call for no winds during the night so conditions are perfect for all of the newbie morons. The only option is a third and new BASE site because this place feels like a dictatorship and Blinc is a dead anarchy.     A B is a serious object read solid. If you got to come here to ask how to jump it then you need more training as simple as that. Said that, someone told me about the three-break-setting set up (PM if you want to know who). The factory shallow for slider up. The factory deep for very short delay slider down (CR canopies). A third calibrated DBS to give you the least amount of forward speed for longer slider down (2-3.5). This is his rationale: The factory deep are usually in the ball park but they are not super deep. When you jump S/L, PCA, or a super fast go and throw the vertical airspeed the canopy uses to convert into the two vectors is very low so not too deep break settings are preferred (usually factory deep are good for this). However when you pitch at the 3 second mark by the time the canopy is opening there is quite a bit of airspeed and the factory deep might be too shallow leading the canopy flying with too much forward speed. The argument made a lot of sense to me and the three BSs have been working great so far. So off that B he’s talking about I’d use the factory deep.   21. With a "go and throw" or better yet a simultaneous go and throw you are virtually positioning the PC in zero-air speed with absolutely no burble. At 1 sec of free fall your air-speed is roughly 22 MPH. A 48" PC generates about 15 LBS of force at that speed. Hence, theoretically speaking you should have the container open (fully or partially) by one second. Also if you use the throw-up technique the container should start opening almost as the PC passes the launch point. On the other hand if you wait one second before pitching it is true that the airspeed is greater but the PC has to inflate first hence burning-up more altitude. I believe your advice is wrong especially when one tries to FF very low objects. I consider anything below 200’ very low for FF. All things being equal, if you open at the same altitude with a go and throw than you do with one sec delay, your go and throw technique needs some refinements.
