  1. I have 375 LBS UV coated HMA. The line were made continous so it translates into 750 LBS per cascaded line. For my 9 cell that's a total of 18000 LBS, more than 7 times stronger than my type 17 risers so even if I lost 50% I think I'd be in good shape. I got 300 jumps on the line set and the wear is not even noticable and absolutely not even 1/10 of an inch change in trim. I swear by HMA and Dacron depending on the application. I don't care for spectra and vectran at all. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  2. True, however HMA suffers from 50% tensile reduction, due to UV damage, between 1.5 to 3 months of continue exposure. This translates in roughly 13000 jumps given 5 minutes/jump. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  3. I have a newer set of Morpheus' and they are built the skydiving way (hole in the webbing), not that it realy matters to me. However when I bulid them I go integrity because they are easier to make. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  4. With a tensile strength of 4000 LBS, I doubt it. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

  7. And that's why they should not let anybody else to film BASE stuff! As usual Jimmy, you know how to shoot and edit videos like few others. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

  9. It's my understanding he wants to actually use his Perigee container. Anyway opinions are alike...and here is mine. Look at the pic, it's a Perigee with a removable L-bar and l-bar risers. Just imagine a reserve attach to it and a container. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  10. Then If I were in you I find a rigger making it a container for a square reserve. Your SD reserve is a PD 113 so I just put that one in it and you save money instead of buying another reserve. It'll be very small. I'd close it with two curved pin and put a throw-out with a freebag and that will save you additional bulk. As for the construction all you need is type VIII (at a minimum) webbing that will make both the risers and the attachment point. So in the end it'll look like two longer risers with the container attached. You can get a removable l-bars to attach it to the chest mount loops the Perigee already has. A chest mount system like that with a PD 113 should not be too detrimental performance wise (tracking and WS). You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  11. Does it have to be TSO or you just want a secondary system? In which country are you gonna be using it and what are the regulations in such a country? You can contact RWS and inquire about the cest-mount system they use on their skyhook demos, it's very low bulk. You might also want to look at mil surplus stores and gov auctions. You can pick one of those for pennies but they will be very bulky. If you don't need it to be certified I'd find a good rigger than can build one, it's actually very easy and you can put a square reserve in it and have it done your specs like a throw out instead of a spring loaded. 13. I stand corrected. How many junps did he have off this cliff? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  14. Absolutely. This fatality almost mirrors Adam Gibson's. First jump off a technical object. Decent experience but probably over-confidence on their skills or maybe what a human body can and cannot do. Instead of making a conservative jump with a strong launch and a strong track both decided to do an aerobatic start. Both started the track late, both struck the wall in FF. I don't care how many jumps you have 1 or 1 million, when it is your first time off a new object that on top of being new to you it is known to be very technical, go easy, play conservative, see how far you can get, evaluate the side while in FF in max track, then you can get a better idea of what YOU can do and cannot do. Seeing other jumpers floating the exit, barrel rolling and successfully track away just few feet from the talus does not mean you can do it regardless your experience level. No two jumpers are alike, no two jumps are alike. There are three things that will kill you in BASE: Inexperience, complacency, and bad luck, the latter is really the least of your concerns if you are fully aware of the former two. We lost another brother and it sucks, the least we all can do is to learn something from this. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  15. It all depends...gender and good looks are the two most important factors in saving tons of money. For instance, given the female gender and given the good looks in the same package maggot will teach you for free and possibly even donate one of his rigs to you. Given male and bad looks, not only maggot will slave you, you will have to buy him drugs, whores, a new rig, carry him and his gear to the object, drive him around, let him fuck your GF/wife and this is even before he'll take you for ground-crew. So it depends You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  16. Reading it back, yes is does not! What I meant is that if I had a gun pointed at my head given the choice of either fire or a valved canopy, well the only valved canopy I would get at the point in time would be the Troll MDV as its valved design is superior. And Lonnie please read my "IMO" and "0.02" used in the same sentence. Everyone is entitled to opinions and mine is give me a Mojo or an Ace anytime, no holes for me thanks. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  17. Let us not forget two very important things: -Different canopy designs benefit from vents more than others (Flik vs. Ace for instance). -Larger canopy size (260+) and underloaded canopies (.65 and lower) also benefit more. IMO, an Ace 220 loaded @ .75 will benefit much, much less than a Flik 322 @ .6. The only system on the market that I would consider putting holes in the bottom skin is the Troll MDV. I am also fortunate to jump smaller canopies (220 and 240) but depending on the landing area I would not mind a 200 or 180. I'd not jump anything bigger than 240 vented or not. Another 0.02...IMO vented canopies suffer from off-headings more than convetional ones. And I am not the only one thinking so...there is a saying...with a vented your chances of hitting a wall are greater, with a non-vented the chances of more severe injuries when you do hit the wall are greater. For the type and size of canopies I jump I do not see myself going down the vented route...If I was 200LBS plus I bet I would think much differently. Vent or no-vent PLEASE set your DBS!!! Ask tfelber about it...just to rub it in... You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

  19. Oh, forgot, all Icarus reserves have a max of 255 LBS. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  20. This is not true. For the smallest r-max (108) the max susp. weight is 220 lbs so within the minimum. However they recomend "expert" not to be more than 140 lns. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points

  22. Given your experience I'd pick a Phantom of the S-fly. Both the V2 and the S6 are very demanding suits that will only slow down your WS progression. Also, in SD many get OVERALL better performance with suits like the Phantom because maxing out a V2 or S6 for almost 3 minutes is very hard physically. And Loic with an S-fly by the way kicked everyone's asses including people with V2 and S6. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  23. I know it's confusing as hell. The Raven III is PIA 240 it's virtually identical to a Mojo 240 in size. The Raven IV is PIA 266 very close to a Mojo 260. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  24. Don't know but there's a lot of smokable stuff over there. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  25. Not true. I among others were able to pack a Raven IV (PIA 266) into a J2 and it got jumped several times including BASE jumps (NRGB). You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
