  1. Thank you for posting this. I am one of the critics but not of his actions by any means. We should all know we are the ones leaving the objects not all the others around us. We are the ones ultimately responsible for our own lives. He was clearly a grown man with a huge thirst for life. I just wish things turned out differently and he could make multiple other jumps. I just hope we can all learn something from both his life and the way he got out of it. Thanks again. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  2. When I build dive loops I use either 1" square weave (1000 LBS) or type 17 (2500 LBS). The latter is probably overkilled. It'd be interesting to know if the failure you mentioned occured at the stitching or at the tape itself. I had a similar episode where the dive loop broke. Fortunately it was on a BASE jump and those canopies are much more forgiving. At any rate, the reason of the failure was the stitching. The loop was held in place by 4" of straight stitching only (E thread). That equates to about 215 LBS or about 1/4 of the strength of the material. Remember that the stitching must be at least as strong as the material. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  3. If the material is mil spec then that is the minimum break strength...so yeah it should work as a yoga rope! You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  4. It's usually binding tape so depending on the width from 400 for the 3/4" to 500 for the 1" You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  5. Every time I get pulled over by a cop I lie. Every time I have to put in writing I did not use any drugs in the past X months I lie. Every time I call CC companies because I was late I lie. I lie at people when they ask me if they are fat and/or ugly. I lie at people when they are depressed or broken heart. I lie at my students when they really had a bad skydive but they still have a huge smile on their faces. I only live by one rule; try not to hurt beings (humans or other animals) and for as long as I meet that criteria the end justifies the means. So she might have lied to get some decent gear, BIG FUCKING DEAL! Over and out on this. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  6. Yep, Didn't I say so already? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  7. Given the circumstances, yes I'm very Ok with it. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  8. Sure, should 've, could've would've... She's got 50 skydives, she probably does not know any BASE jumpers, she has a hearing impediment, she does not know the "system", and she wants to jump badly from the bridge. And stevebabin, it must be extremely boring living in such a perfect world. That's why I don't log anymore, I cannot lie if I have 1000 or 1001 jumps. 9. IMO she did what she had to do to get her hands on safe BASE gear. If Jason's number was the same as the industry number she probably would have not registered to begin with. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  10. I stand corrected. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  11. I really don't know the extent her hearing had in having the pass confiscated but misunderstanding happens all the time even among good hearing people. Apparently she had about 50 skydives (the minimum required). But anyhow, this deaf jumper that many of us know, ironically does not pass the minimum BD skydives requirement because he only has 15. I don't know if they would make a special case because he has about 200 BASE jumps. Now in defense of Joy there is a little paradox in this whole thing. You need 50 skydives to jump at BD. However no manufacture will lease you BASE gear if you have less than 150 jumps. Apparently Joy had the skydiving done and she was truthful during her registration (what really counts). If she was misrepresenting her number of jumps to get her hands on safe BASE gear I really would not call her a liar. Of course she could have just talked to Jason and told him that because her low jump number she cannot rent BASE gear. I bet he would have found a way out. So Jason what about raising the jump number requirement to the "industry" standard? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  12. No he is a BASE jumper (I think about 200 jumps). He only has 15 skydives. Get your facts straight. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  13. So I guess he would not be allowed to jump at BD! You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  14. I was thinking the same You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  15. PM me. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  16. Ouch! Getto rigging at its best! Everyone fucks up but it'd be nice if you could get in touch with the "rigger" responsible for that so he/she won't make the sme mistake again and possibly kill someone. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  17. FYI, there is at least one BASE jumper that I know of who is deaf, as he was borne deaf. I also know of several blind skydivers and I heard of one of them jumping the popular bridge out west. I don't think your disability should have any bearings to become an accomplshed skydiver and/or BASE jumper. Jimmy P from Apex trained at leats one deaf guy. I'd suggest to get in contact with him when you have the sufficient skydiving background. And as for your rejection...yes it'd be nice to see Jason's point on the issue. I really hope your hearing was not the reason. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  18. You stalled the SOB...you need a better suit You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  19. That is not true since the large and small mesh Mojo slider are of DIFFERENT size. CR never reccomended to use one or the other depending on airspeed. They switched to the large hole and a different size at a later time. All I am interesed is hearing from people who jumped both sizes and type of frabric; if you did not then please spare your story. 20. And by the way if you got problems with me on other threads it does not mean you've got to be a smart ass when it comes to discuss thechnical stuff. Re-read what AF wrote and then if you want try to answer my Q w/out smart-ass sarcasm. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  21. Not true. There is no need for two different mesh sliders. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  22. So wich slider do you like better and why? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  23. Yes I kinda know that number and here is what AF wrote on blinc: However I'd like to hear EXPERIENCES from jumpers. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  24. Mojos used to come with a smaller large hole mesh and/or a bigger fine hole mesh slider. I believe the same is true for the ACE/BJ but I am looking on feedback just on Mojos. For those who jumped with both slider types I'd like to hear your opinion on each. You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
  25. About 50 jumps in the last year as a starting point? And maybe at least 200 jumps total? You know you have a problem when maggot is the voice of reason at the exit points
