  1. Here is to 26 MORE years of memories, http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  2. For a saltwater tank, I would recommend a fish only tank at first. If you haven't had a freshwater tank before then you probably should even try a reef tank/corals. Although reef tanks are mighty neat, you can make a fish only tank cool as well. Depends what you like, aggressive fish like triggers, lionfish, eels or a peaceful tank with clownfish, tangs, etc. I would recommend a 55 gallon or larger. Smaller tanks fluctuate alot more due to evaporation and less water in general. Expect to start of with some hardy fish at first, maybe 2/3 small ones. You should research the "Ammonia Cycle" and its effects. Then I wouldn't add only add one fish a month or two until you can't add any more/don't want to. Expect to do weekly maintenance and expect to spend 1-2 dollars per gallon for supplies per month. That isn't including fish or the initial price. I would guess that you would spend an hour or 2 every 2 weeks to change 10-25% of the water. You really can't get behind on the maintenence. Don't cheap out on the initial equiptment, you will be sorry. Also, find a GOOD fish store, I don't recommend anything from PetSmart or PetCo just from looking at thier fish.. AND RESEARCH before you BUY. Besides that, it really isn't that hard . PM me if you have questions, I prolly won't follow this thread unless it is on top of the thread list. Good luck. Disclaimer: I have worked at a tropical fish store for 4 years and had saltwater tanks from 7-125 gallons. I also realize there is more than one way to skin a cat so you might hear different advice..meh, nothing you can do about that. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  3. whew, this weekend is looking to be rather interesting. See everyone on Saturday! Back on topic: looks like it has been done before, I would consider telling my friends that want to do a tandem about it if it wasn't the end on Jan http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  4. Bill, Thanks for the offer of helping out. Please PM me any info you have about learning camps in Baldwin this summer, I am interested. I'm looking forward to next summer, it should be fun! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  5. I love lamp. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  6. Thanks for the explanation. Is there any recomendation based on jump numbers for the different classes or is it all based on skill level? http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  7. I'm a low-time private pilot and my expierence works both ways, skydiving and flying complemented eachother. Being a pilot first, I understood ALOT more stuff in the FJC, like flying the pattern, winds, weather, etc. BUT, I could not get the hang of landing where I wanted to because I was use to being able to add or remove power. One of my instructors actually asked if I was a pilot because most pilots he has seen weren't acurate during the first 20-30 jumps until it clicked. Now that I am a self-proficient skydiver, it has helped my landings in the plane, I rarely need to add power once I start removing it during the landing sequence.. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  8. I received my B lic card about 10 days after I sent it in. Incredibly time..I was impressed. I didn't pay for the rush service http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  9. I'm looking at 4way competition stuff.. In general, what is the difference between the classes? In particular, the rookie and Class A classes. Thanks, http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  10. Shut up and jump. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  11. What was the deal? http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  12. I would never say no to someone teaching me for free, but I don't really know anyone who jumps and can teach me how to pack, plus after just 5 jumps this would pay itself.. Isn't it part of the training over there to learn how to pack? Seems wierd, oh well. I don't know anything about the training overseas... There isn't anyone at your DZ that will teach ya for a case of beer? I guess my best advice is to not be a stranger at your DZ, stay after dark, drink a few with the "old-timers." maybe go on a rainy day if people are there, just to chat. It is fun, trust me Good luck, and blue skies! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  13. Done it, it wasn't that cool. BTW: Real linux users use Gentoo. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  14. Wow, too bad you guys weren't in my area. I know about 20 people that would teach you for free including myself. A fee-based packing course is ridiculous. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  15. If the airport is busy enough to warrant a tower then they should build it, regardless of the operations held at the airport/FBO. When I am flying, I look forward to flying to a class D or higher airport because I know that the operations will be smooth and managed. Bottom line: If the airport needs a tower, the extra time needed for the pilots to talk to the tower is minimal compared to waiting for other aircraft in the area to land without a tower. I fail to see the argument on either side here. At my dropzone, we have to deal with aircraft on approach to MSP. An ATC controller that has been in the system there long enough will know that on a nice day, there will be slow planes at 10k. Plus, we are in contact with MSP approach. I'm sure they redirect aircraft because we rarely have any issues. (There probably are other factors here, I'm just speculating) http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  16. I just use Linux and build PCs myself. Better and cheaper than anything Dell could do for me http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  17. I concur. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2573580;#2573580 http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  18. S/L training + 20 FF's = ~$800 Free rig. So, $800 to get my A lic Eh, maybe with beer and gas $$ it was more but that is pretty close. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  19. I have nothing but great things to say about Mads from L&B. Great person to deal with, normal response time via email: less than 10 hrs. I emailed them regarding my pro-dytter. It went through batteries in about 2 weeks time. My unit was pretty new, I bought it used and put about 50 jumps on it. Love the product. So, I emailed them, told them the problem and Mads replied that I should send it to them for inspection. They determine that it would be best to replace the unit. The best part: They upgraded me to a Solo instead of sending a new Pro-Dytter! Thanks L&B! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  20. I just found the guy's blog: www.verizonmath.blogspot.com Looks like he got refunded BUT he was charged the correct amount, they were just stupid! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  21. This is a hilarious sound clip of a customer calling Verizon... The guy was quoted .002 cents yet he was charged $0.002 and all the customer reps are like "yes, that is the same thing, sir" He got charged 100 times more than what he was quoted. http://i.thefairest.info/verizon_billing.mp3 http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  22. Is there a link for the camps that Airspeed does, I could only find the 4way camp which is with random students and 1 coach in a slot. Thanks. http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
  23. :6:1 Best dive of the weekend: 4 way - round, zipper, opal, bipole, donut, round. 9 pts from 10k!, so fun!
