  1. I want to get some new risers this winter, and wanted to see how much longer I could go. I rigged up something so I could hang from some supports by the risers. The container was empty, and I know that it doesn't fit properly without canopies, but will it make a difference in the reach you'll get to the top of the risers?
  2. A good idea for a first suit, is to get an RW suit, without booties. That way you can do RW and freefly. Like he said, something baggy that will make you slow down.
  3. I just got one as well. The only thing I'm not sure of, is using a Viso as an audible ;).
  4. I wouldn't worry about it, it's your reserve, you can pull it whenever you want, their job is to pack it. They can test the pull force when they're done.
  5. Off topic I know, but, Did anyone else read this and not have a problem with it? 72 jumps and he's jumped a Sabre 135 then downsized to a Stiletto 120 @ 1.3, all the while with no AAD. Wow, I hope you are very lucky and don't get hurt. A better idea would be to upsize, but that's not my choice.
  6. Agreed. I bought a "second" aviator and after one season (Canadian season) it is chiped and cracked all over. The helmet is very comfortable, and has 2 audible pockets which is great, but the shell was less than acceptable. They have offered to replace it, and I intend on sending it in over the winter, hopefully they've fixed the problem.
  7. Has anyone bought gear from Europe before and had it shipped to Canada or the US? I'm wondering what kind of customs/duty/bullshit charges they put on them, or if they're the same as if it was comming from US to Canada? Thanks!
  8. What..you mean it isn't per week? So AggieDave didn't do 2200 jumps this weekend?
  9. So does this make the Cobalt a bad choice for swooping? I've read that the Stiletto had a very quick recovery arc, and wasn't best suited for swooping, so would this make the Cobalt even more less suitable for swooping?
  10. I started a little late and only got 28 jumps in my first season. Over the winter I had pieced together a great complete rig, for a great price: Javelin J-1: $500 Triathlon: $500 PD143R: $400 Vigil: $1000 It's all about waiting for the right gear to pop up on the classifieds, and the winter (if you have a winter season) is great for this, because you've got 4 months to browse and decide what you want.
  11. Thanks very much Dave, that's where I figured the canopy stood (about the same as Sabre2, but less than CF2, recovery arc wise). I've got a couple mentors and definately plan to get as much help/advice/coaching as I can. Thanks again!
  12. Thanks for the quick reply Dave. What about Sabre2's for anyone that's got experience on tboth of those?
  13. Good evening all, I've searched many, posts, but am unable to answer my question, so here goes: I have read that the recovery arc of the Cobalt is longer than a Stilleto, but how is it compared to a Crossfire2? Thanks!
  14. The best I've had was 93 mph average, not sure what my min was. I am 175 lbs, 5' 9", and don't own a suit with booties , so it was done in a regular FF suit. I love tracking, but I'm so floaty and slow falling, I can only go with certain people. (I could go with other people, but I like to max track, not belly fly with my legs out ).
  15. There's a lot of people with jumps on rounds too, just new technology and more comfort.
  16. "Quilted" is just stitching in a diamon pattern on the back, no padding. Kinda like that :P.
  17. 130 jumps Sabre 150 at 1.17 Just downsized to this from my first canopy, a Triathlon 160.
  18. Are you talking about the Canadian record? If so it was set at 34, not 43.
  19. Wow, in Canada, you have to do the same series in 16 secodns just for your B-lisence.
  20. I'm 19, and I started when I was 18. I could only afford it because I am still living at home while I am going to College, so there aren't any bills. Aquiring gear was a different story, I'm in Canada, so we had a nice cold Winter, which aloud me to work and no skydive (save money). Throughout the whole winter I pieced together a great rig and save up some money for the summer. My advice to you, would be this, start saving. Even if you don't know if you're going to like it. FJC: $200 AFF: $1000 Gear: $1500-$7000 You can see that it's a big investment right at the start (well, gear will be a few jumps in). Goodluck!
  21. Exit weight = 175lbs Jump 1-30: Manta 288 Jump 31-Present: Triathlon 160
  22. Haha I know I know . Thanks a lot!
  23. Hey all (particularly people who get Canpara), I'm looking for the website address for the new jumpsuit manufacturer in Canada. It was in the latest edition of Canpara (Quad-downplane on front). I just can seem to remember the address and I threw it out after I read it. I remember the logo being a person with wings, and legs in the shape of a heart. Thanks guys!
  24. I pack my Tri-160 into my J-1 without any hassle at all (granted, the canopy isn't new and slippery). I've also read that Tri's pack larger than Spectre's.
