  1. The short line will cause the d-bag to burn holes in the top skin on the center cell during deployment . If it hasn't already happened it will . There is a reason certain things are done and unless you can affford to buy new chutes all the time maybe you should listen to people when they tell you this is the way it is done . Trying not to be an as* but you are making it hard . Again be careful . Joe
  2. The guy has les than 100 jumps and you are telling him to RDS it . What the hell are people thinking . Let's just kill some more and get it over with . Joe
  3. Last reply , Yhe lengths are 18" for the 2 and 6' for the single one . Come on Mark I thought you knew evrything . The other problem that could arise with leaving the set up hooked up is this . Have you flared it real deep almost to stalling and seen what happens to all that stuff trailing ? What happens if you do that at 200 feet to avoid a collision and it wraps around your lines ? Could be a bad situation . Again be very careful . You are treading in shark infested waters here . Joe
  4. Brant , Not to rain on your parade but if you only have a couple hundred jumps then you have a ways to go before you need to worry about removing stuff . You don't have the experience you think you do to deal with the problems and traffic that can come up . That being said the reason your openings are not consistant and you have line twist sometimes is your single line from the center of the slider . You are deforming the slider on opening and not letting it do what it is designed to do . Your bag and pilot chute are pulling the slider back and not letting it open up and this is letting the air rush into the nose and if one side sees air before the other then you get line twist . Be careful with your experimenting and I hope you are current on your emergency procedures . Blue skies and good luck . Joe Bennett
  5. We are working on it at Skyworks . Contact us and we can go from there . Joe
  6. No it's because Chuck's were made with Stainless grommets and not brass and the weight holds them down better .
  7. I work there part time when I can . You can reach me at 678-234-1849 . Thanks
  8. Grant , Unfortunately this house I'm working on is closing on this Friday and the money is too good to pass up . I had 2 seperate contractors hold me up a week and the home owner is paying me to stay . I will see you at the end of July for sure . Talk to you soon and everybody be safe . Joe
  9. Hangovers are something you young puppies get who were never properly trained . I will be glad to give you some pointers . As for proper technique . Notice the distance from puke to body . No way is Chuck gonna get anything on him . Now he's ready to party some more . Proper technique is something you young puppies don't have . Joe
  10. Not to mention Grant but someone who can't get stable after their cutaway may not have the canopy skills it takes . Joe
  11. Now Grant is that any way to talk to your elders . You'll get your canopy back so you won't have any excuses . I suck at freestyle and always have but I think I can take you in a couple of the other rounds . We'll have to see . Looking forward to having fun this time . Maybe you can hang out this time instead of running home to your wife . Joe
  12. Chuck you are my brother till I die . Last year was a disappointment for me in a lot of ways . So yes this year I will make you proud . Not going to go for either of those 2 awards being that I win those hands down . Just going out for the old guys and going to have some fun . Wish you were coming . Going for no cutaways and no hospital trips . Talk to you soon . Joe
  13. Paul and I did some talking back and forth and tried some things and have the problem with the slider fixed . He takes his to terminal on every jump and has no problems what so ever .
  14. no but I've seen it from a couple of angles if you know what I mean
  15. Thanks for watching my back their Chuck . Looking forward to seeing you both in a couple of weeks . And I'll have your rings with me . Time for a cocktilio
  16. It holds a PD143 , Smart 150 , Cricket , MR 150 . All in that size range .
  17. Some reserves are not tso'd or approved with slinks . We all know they are stronger but if something was to go wrong you will be thrown under the bus by the manufacturer . Be careful .
  18. It has a thicker or taller rib , which ever you prefer , than a regular 245 so that you can sink it better and gives it a better flare . This in turn makes it react a little slower but doesn't hurt the stability at all , just keeps it from flying off fast . Which I like next to guide wires or buildings .
  19. It doesn't have 3 layers of top skin . We use 1.5 oz fabric for it's strength being that you only have one chute . It will hold it's flare longer through use since it won't wear out as easy as 0-3 fabric . Joe
  20. The line set has an arch put in it .Meaning the ends of the nose are lower than the middle . (anhedral arch ) splelling sucks . When you lenghten the lines this lets the outside lines catch up with the center opening the chute up more in flght . This in turn lets the nose up a little . If you have ever jumped a removable slider you notice the difference when you remove it and it lets the chute open up and fly better . You have to be careful how much you let the lines out . Your pendulum effect will be a lot better but the openings can be your worst nightmare . If you want more explanation just pm me . Joe
  21. the longer lines will make the canopy fly flatter . When you lenghtenthe lines you must take this into consideration . I know Mel didn't build this lineset he just installed it . You can trim the A lines down a little and get rid of the slack . How much you want to trim is up to you within reason ( an inch or so ) to get the canopy flying the way you like it . Any more questions please just ask before doing something you haven't done before . Joe
  22. If these people are avid pond swoopers and are not opening up there reserves after are hard weekend of geting your stuff completely submerged in water and don't understand the difference than those idiots deserve what they get . Do you think your equipment is indestructable under those conditions ? That is the price we pay as swoopers for doing what we love . If you can't take better care of your stuff than that , then maybe they should get out of swooping . As far as the pack cycle goes I can't wait for it to go to 180 days . The worse thing we can do is touch the chute . If you know where your chute has been 180 days is plenty safe . If you have a question ask someone who knows . Why does PD say 1 year ? Maybe because it doesn't affect the opening time at all .
  23. Jim, Will this count as currency for the pilots who haven't got to compete this year yet ? To keep our pro rating current is what I meant . Joe
  24. Can't wait to see you again it's been too long . Nice to know I have someone on my side now . It will be a privilage to show them how it's done . Looking forward to some cocktails with my buddy Chuck . See you soon my friend .
  25. Sorry to let you and myself down Chuck . Hard to keep up with the young guns anymore . As for the 'mickey' I noticed my water tasted different but I just figured it was the extra heat . It was hotter than my balls in a jock strap . But in all of their defense I think this region has some kick ass pilots coming up to whip some butt . So us pros better watch our backs , as Paul showed them in Chicago . Looking forward to seeing everyone at Mile Hi next month .
