Mike is great as long as you are not trying to reach him as your as DPRE . :)

packing tabs are more for production purposes than anything else . It makes it much easier when inspecting before final seaming and bartacking .

Actually it was Jay M. that did this mod . Mine is higher on the control lines .

The Rage will pack very similar to a Stiletto 135 .

Don't know if you're asking about Mel's rings . But if you are I can tell you that we have never used aluminum rings . There was a guy a couple of years ago using it and i think he has since changed . Joe

Then why are you jumping a PD reserve loaded more than that since it's an old design also . Seen many a firelites loaded at 1.6 and higher that flew and landed just perfect . I have a half a dozen rides on the test rig that I jump loaded atleast 1.3 again with perfect landings . But since it's not PD it's an inferior design . I have jumped both of these reserves and would say the biggest difference is you can't sink the raven as well for a deep brake landing . I do work for Red at Flight Concepts from time to time so some might think I favor his products . I think all the manufacturers make some great products but not a single one makes the perfect chute for everyone . There's your unbiased opinion . Joe Bennett

Red at Flight Concepts has been building them for awhile . We built one for a 7,000 sqft flag that even deployed a 26ft round as it was cut away . You can reach him at (770)279-7733 . Joe

The rings will be ready this coming week . We apologize for the delay but we had to make sure they would be right and not too expensive . This way you don't have to put on the cloth rings and take them right back off again . Again sorry for the delay . Joe

Looks just like a tension knot to me . The way the lines are cut straight across and not torn like it would be with too much weight or load on them . The technora line is very easy to get a tension knot with . Why do you think it is taking PD so long to come out with their HMA thin line set to the public . They don't want to deal with this kind of headache . Joe

No he didn't .

Chachi's slider was a prototype that was given to someone else to try and was supposed to be returned because it didn't work . It was passed down to Chachi instead of being returned so we could cut it up so noone else would get it by mistake . Joe

Oh no is the RAGE a Crossfire 2????????
golowjoe replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
J.D. , I would really like to know the people you are talking about that broke all those bones on the Rage . I have never heard a single person say they didn't have enough flare and if anything were surprised about the amount of flare it had . The Rage is not a Crossfire 2 or 1 for that matter . If you look at the ribs you will see a difference that is very noticeable . The Rage will fly bigger than an equal size Crossfire . The manufacturers measure differently and a Rage 110 would measure up like a 119 Crossfire . Both parachutes are good chutes nad you will enjoy either one you pick . Everyone wants something different out of their chutes . Find what you like and stick with it . And as for the 270-360 out openings well I'll keep my opinion to myself since I haven't heard of this problem either . Joe Bennett -
Why don't you call Red at Flight Concepts being he is the one who built it . He should be able to answer your questions . (770)279-7733 . joe

Matt , I would check the kill line in the drogue for proper length . I have had 3 drogues just recently that have had issues with improper length . Joe

Call me and I'll make sure Red sends you some if they have it . Joe Bennett 678-234-1849

questions regarding RDS experience
golowjoe replied to MrBrant's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Thank you Brant , I wish I could say I created it . Sonic built the first one I ever seen . Mel and I just over trial and error and 6 different models have got this one where it is now . Good luck and be safe . Joe -
Shameless plug for Joe B. & MEL.
golowjoe replied to diablopilot's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I've been working with Paul Russow personally and the last one I sent him he said worked perfectly and any deployment speed . He's putting more jumps on it but I believe it is all worked out . As for 3" extra of line on the slider . I personally have never built a slider with only 3" extra and wouldn't . And I don't use 1 1/2" tape for the extra line . Maybe Mel tried something new or your measurements are not correct . If for some reason you can't get in touch with him PM me and I will and we will get this resolved . Thank you Joe Bennett -
Shameless plug for Joe B. & MEL.
golowjoe replied to diablopilot's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I would like to see a pic of this slider . I have not had a cable come out on opening and would like to see the design of this slider . Unless Mel tried something new that I haven't seen I don't see how 5" of extra cable could come out of the pocket . Was the pocket for the excess cable 1" binding tape folded in half or was it 1 1/2" tape folded in half ? Please let me know if you can remember . I know that I have never had anyone tell me that the excess was coming out on opening . I'll wait to hear from you . Thanks for your time and sorry for your troubles . Joe Bennett
