I don't know StreetScooby personally, but he strikes me as one of these guys who benefits from all that unions fought to get and yet is bent on destroying them based on some notion that labor no longer needs protection. I'd love to see him put his money where his mouth is and live without any of the things that unions bring to the modern day workplace: 1. 8 Hour day. 2. Weekends. 3. Overtime. 4. Benefits. 5. Safety regs. 6. Merit pay and raises in general. 7. Job security. Just to name a few. The current line up of politicos on both teams are arrayed against labor and seem bent on taking the country back to the late 1800's in terms of labor and pay. That's why I'm a political orphan. For more or less those same reason, I'm no longer a democrat. They have merged with the right and abandoned their base. I am, and have been for the last ten years, a political orphan. Some would say there's a freedom in that, bit would disagree. Since I have no party to advocate for my interests, I get no service from elected officials, no attention whatsoever from candidates and am denied a vote and voice in primaries. I am not allowed to run for office ( not that I want to ), due to the barrier of cash needed to purchase a slot on the ballot and have vanishingly few resources to find and mobilize like minded fellows. The corporate money that fuels elections now has effectively suppressed all opposition and tamed both parties. It's highly unlikely that you'll be able to get gear that will be compatable with croma key effects. You'll have to mask each individual frame. First you have to be a skydiver. One with decades of experience and most, if not all, of the ratings. Then you have to accept the limitations of dealing with a very large cottage industry. Most everyone in the industry is not an employee, but an independent contractor and are highly fluid. Then you have to deal with the vagaries of the weather, season, aircraft and political issues that affect the industry on a regular basis as well as a regulatory system that is hostile to your very existence and at times will combine with various political forces to make your life, as well as your income, a living, breathing hell. Then you have to deal with the notion that there is almost nothing in the industry that can be commodified. You are to first timers, a ride, to old timers, a ride and nothing else. The whuffo media. We all should care. I had to deal with them when I was PIO in the fire dept. They were as dumb as a box of rocks and half as useful. They, through their fear based, drama centered, fact free "reporting", can do more to stir public opinion against us than you can possibly imagine. They are, to a man, unknowledgeable and unwilling to learn. They have a preset agenda that boils down to: If it bleeds, it leads. And are unwilling to get even the smallest of details right unless it fits what they want to splash on the headlines. I remember countless times when I'd watch a report on an event I was involved in and turn to my partners and go "where the hell was that one?" They seem to want to get everything as wrong as possible. They are not to be trusted. They are maggots and we'd be better off with some different kind of model than this bullshit. This effort, if it comes about, could dramatically expand the capabilities of the sport and bring new advances by attracting new blood and talent to the gene pool.
