  2. +1, Great big guys in tight pants running into other great big guys in tight pants. Makes even less sense than reality TV. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. 3. That took a long time.
  4. RW jumpers who wear sweatshirt over their tight RW suit so they can fall with a light/small person. That and the guys with hoodies under their jumpsuit. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. 5. A stark example of the folly of voluteer fire departments and a lack of residentail sprinkler systems. I was a carreer firefighter for 26 years. The volunteers are obsolete and no one will do a thing about it. Your best line of defense against a home fire is a residentail sprinkler system, yet almost no one will spring for the extra $$$ to put one in. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. 7. Not true. The model stated that as energy trapped in the form of heat was added to the system, then greater swings in the system would be observed. Record temps, both high and low. Record high low temps, record storms in both size and depth of season ( think superstorm Sandy. Never been a Cat 2 storm at that latitude, that late inthe season.), record size storms ( think typhoon Hyuan [sp]), and record El Nino/La Nina events. Also, the model predicts sea level rise to account for ice melt and general heating. This are currently being observed. Which ones? The facts are that the global climate has, and is changing. You can listen to Fox Noise and deny that all you want, but you'll eventually have to deal with it. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... 8. So, the path to get to where you want to go will depend on where you want to go. Since you didn't specifiy, I need to understand what your destination is. Do you want to fly wingsuits out of airplanes or BASE jump ( Off of cliffs and mountains)? The path for both is long, but the path for BASE is much longer. First, you have to become a skydiver. To do that, you must complete AT LEAST 7 levels of formal training, then be guided through a less structured series of modules that culminate in the accumulation of a minimum of 25 jumps with the requisite skills accounted for. Upon successful completion of that, you will sit for a written exam, then, if you pass, you will take a practical exam. IF/whenyou pass that you will have your first license. Next you will get gear. Plan on spending some fairly hefty money for this. You can get used gear for ~$3000 or so and new gear will set you back ~$5500-7500 (depending on options). Then you will need to rack up some jumps (200 is the bare minimum, most have ~500 when they take the first flight course [FFC]). You will need to become an expert at stabilty recovery and altitude awareness. You will also need to have better spotting skills than most as you will be farther out than your fellow jumpers. Having gotten all that, you will transition to the next level, the FFC. Once you take the FFC, you will then be guided though then levels and skills to be safe in the air. If wingsuiting out of airplanes is your destination, you path will more or less end here, with a future of lifetime learning and fun ahead. If you want to do BASE, then you got what amounts to an entire second path ahead. Once you become a competent wingsuit pilot, you then need to become a highly skilled BASE jumper. Then, and only then, can you think about taking a suit off a cliff. To start, you can get some insight into what is required by making aircraft jumps that mimic BASE, namely choppers and balloons. Choppers have near zero exit airspeed and balloons have zero. Both are an absolute blast in their own right and are cool even if you decide BASE isn't for you. There are more than a few schools that can help you with transition to BASE and even some can help with wingsuit instruction. Let your instructors/coaches and helpful others know what your intentions are at every step of the way and don't let anyone, for any reason, talk you into doing something you don't want to do or don't feel safe doing. So, you're young, and capable, you'll go far and fast. Good luck and welcome aboard. Show up at a drop zone, have money to spend and we'll do the rest.
  9. Almost have enough to get hooked up with a new system (current one is 6 years old and long in the tooth). Looking for one that works well with GoPro as well as DSLR systems. Not looking to do 3D or 4K, just good video and things for fun and profit. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off. -The World Famous Tink. 10. It'll be whatever nation state will require the use, and subsequent replacement of, the most hardware. Thus making maximum profit for the military contractors. Figure out where we would expend the most in terms of aircraft, bombs, bullets, drones and cruise missiles, and that will be your next war target. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. 11. This is the issue I wish the right would get all up in arms about. I mean seriously, you have to submit to criminal investigation and be cleared just to work? How did we get to a point where the populace accepts that level of intrusion into their private lives? These companies aren't even the government and most jobs that require a whiz quiz have nothing to do with security or transportation or anything else that recreational intoxication would interfere with. Yet the passive populace doesn't bat an eye. How fucked up is that where a POTENTIAL employer gets to violate your rights in a way the state only wishes it could? 12. It's not a matter of what I believe or don't believe. It's matter of whether or not I accept the conclusions of the evidence. And based on my knowledge of meteorology, physics, biology, and earth science (all studied at the level of bachelors degree), I accept the consensus that the climate is and has changed due to the human consumption of fossil fuels and its addition of CO2 and other gases. 17. We aren't talking about unconditional release of the worst among us: we're talking about life vs execution. There is essentially zero recidivism among lifers. The victims family will never have any sense of closure through the courts. The courts are not set up with that in mind, nor is it their mission. Studies from Middle Eastern contries where the victims family is involved in metting out the punishment show that they're NEVER sastisfied with the final solution. Closure is best done in a therapists office and not at the court house. All that aside, I don't trust the state or the states AT ANY LEVEL with the power and authority to execute. Far too often there are innocent victims wrongfully executed becuse they were simply too poor to afford the dream team of lawyers. There are many more reasons these days to distrust the court system than to trust it. It makes no sense to trust them with the power of life and death. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door.
