  1. I believe there is a power in the human consciousness that we haven't even begun to understand. I believe that changing the way we see the world, will literally change the world. Think back many hundreds of years ago about the mythical and supernatural events in our history. At the time, people "knew" that magic existed, they "knew" vampires hunted them in the night. Things like this were believed around the world. As society grew, we, in general, no longer believed in such things. Does that mean they never existed? I don't think so. I don't necessarily believe that everyone is the middle ages were paranoid fools. (Although there was alot of fear spread by the Church, so things can only be taken so far) I also believe, that science can explain everything, thereby becoming "truth" Science, belief, and technological sophistication all lead to discovery. I don't really know where I'm going with this...I'm just shooting my mouth off. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  2. yup...sites working fine, I just miss all the new vids What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  3. I can see all the old videos just fine, but I can't upload them anymore. (maybe I'm the only one that can't upload) The move recently added movie was 11/30/06. is that what yours says too. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=viewall What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  4. Does anyone know what happened to www.skydivingmovies.com? Every time I got to work, I used to logon and watch all the newly uploaded videos. It's been hard to go without it for soo long. What's going on??? Is it bandwidth? Website Politics? I'm going through withdrawal without those movies. I find it hard to go through my day without getting my fix. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  5. Are you allowed to break a certain number of commandments and still be allowed into Heaven. Or is it break one, and straight to Hell. I suspect the latter...so I'm going to Hell...many times over. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  6. I work for an Arabic Airline, and even we have a Christmas Tree in our office. I was actually pleasantly suprised to find that they put one up. I'd say about 50% of our staff don't celebrate christmas, and about 80% of our clients don't either. No complaints. It's simply represents the good natured spirit of the holiday What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  7. I'm an accountant. One of my primary reasons for that line of profession is the money. All of the richest people in the world are business and corporate leaders. Accountants/Business skills have a broad base that can be applied to any industry. I have worked in manufacturing, marketing, and now in the Airline industry. All requiring the same basic skills, but making it seem like significantly different work. Basically, that means you can get a job in pretty much any industry, and everyone needs an accountant. The only specific negative I have is taxes. I hate taxes. However, I can negate this by simply having a basic understanding of corporate taxes, and just send the financials off to an accounting firm (quite common) and have them do the taxes. It comes down to the type of environment that you work in. If you don't like the people you work with, then you won't like your job. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  8. Just what I needed to cheer up my day. Thanks!!! What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  9. I used to have a '93, (my first car) and it was still running great even after 250k on it. (although the air conditioner didn't work) I would never by anything besides a toyota anymore (possibly a honda though) As long as you take care of it...it'll last you a VERY long time. Good Luck. PS...I still do drive toyota, and I love every second that I'm driving my car. Every weekend I get to do the two things that I love...drive my car...and jump from planes

  11. That's a question that I've been thinking about too. I know one person who said "I've only got about 250 jumps. I'm just a fun jumper, your not really an experienced skydiver until you've hit around a thousand jumps." Ok, I may have paraphrased, as I can't exactly remember how he said it, but his thoughts were pretty clear. In my Belief, "by the numbers" 100 would be the magic number to reach. by 100 jumps, you'll likley have your "B" and be trained to jump with others safely. What do some of those "experienced" jumpers think? What goes up, must come DOWN!!!

Maybe it's for the attention. It could be some deep desire to be wanted. Sure...they're usually very good looking, but as almost all guys have found out...women are quite complicated, and very difficult to understand. But I really don't know...could it be the money? 13. My flying usually doesn't get very far from the ground. I get a running start, and then begin skimming the ground. Not actually touching it, but only a few feet above it. Sometimes though, I am able fly at will. Not motions necessary, I can simply move as I which where I wish. Although this flight isn't very fast, it was really cool. Not only could I fly in that particular dream, but I could also travel through walls. I look forward to when I have those dreams What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  14. http://www.launchfax.com/ As an example...there are PLENTY more. Although this is actually one of the more legit ones. (if you can call it that anyway) What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  15. Did it involve a club? jk, jk Congrats! What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  16. Congrats. Welcome to the forums. I always like hearing about new people joining the sport. Blue Skies!! What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  17. That's a very scary question. What could be done if you did fall into your own canopy? What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  18. Just because someone (or someones) is being an ass, doesn't mean they deserve to be killed. (Maybe taken to an alley and smash his face against a wall , but not killed) Murder is murder, plain and simple. Now if the marines came in, and shot any patron that looked at them funny...that's different, then it's clearly self defence. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  19. I'm hardly the right person to answer this, but in Canada, our aircraft are designated as Commercial aircraft, and repairs must be conducted according to commercial regulations. I suspect it's much the same in the US. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  20. Ya know, I probably couldn't, but if I saw the pilot bail at 800...then i'm pretty sure I'd panic and try to leave too...although likely not make it out in time. But I think it's always good to get a refresher in emergency aircraft procedures. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  21. That's my sort of thinking. If the plane was having serious problems (and/or the pilot bails) then I'm out of there...regardless of altitude But for a regular skydive, I'm still only comfortable at 3.5k. I have plans to work that down. Hopefully this weekend I'll have a better understanding of my canopy opening dynamics and be better able to intuit what sort of altitude I need for it to open safely. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  22. I was quite willing to, but the DZO said that he respects my decision and wouldn't charge me for the jump. (Plus I told him ahead of time, that if I didn't get 3,500 that I'd be landing with the plane.) I'm going start paying attention to timing and altitude loss during deployment. I think that this alone will help me become more comfortable at lower altitudes. Once I know exactly what my canopy tends to do, then I'll be more willing to jump from 2,500 (maybe) Of course, my license at this time states that I must deploy at 2,500, so I definitely won't be exiting any lower at this point. I realized, both fter everyones reply, and after a little thought, that I can get alot more jumps in, if I'm more willing to jump at lower altitudes. So I'll train myself to get used to it. 23. Boy this this thread get way off where it started from. Didn't mean to jack the thread from ya. Maybe someone can actually help out...with, ya know, a real trampoline. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  24. I wonder if you could build a trampoline large enough to safely stop a person falling at terminal? I suspect you'd be flung back up into the air a number of times as you burned off energy...but is it even possible? maybe 300' high...1000' to each side. But what do I know...certainly nothing about trampolines. I'll just end my stupidity here. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  25. I don't have that many gifts to buy, so I'm making sure that each one that I get, is truely meaningful. So although technically, I bought anything yet, I have already started. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
