dunno why, but i had a crazy skydiving dream... for some reason i was hanging off the side of a mattress that was flying along at a considerable altitude... 14k?, anyways, im hanging on with one hand, and in the other hand i have a rig, i cant climb onto the mattress no matter how hard i tried, and suddenly i dropped the rig and as soon as that happened i let go of the mattress and flew after my rig, i struggled to get it on, somehow i get it on, and after ive got it on, i kept trying to get the chest strap on, all the while feeling the urgency (like panic) of the ground nearby, (which is really dark) i go into a cloud and then i half way woke up ( i think i burned in) and checked myself that i was asleep and to go back to sleep... felt totally real freakin weird... went and jumped the next day... Fly it like you stole it

well im not in the navy, but i could certainly empathize with the man, kinda... months at sea, cheap bootie, and anonymity. a shot of rocephin everyonce in a while. and i could also see the peer aspect of it, its like something seamen do, rite of passage type of thing, if your buddys do it... im sure if you talked to any old sea dog hed tell you he had his share of wild nights in port, but that was a different life, Its like when you deploy or go over seas, you take on a different life/personality. Coping mechanism i guess. service member tend to distance them selves, rather than involve to cope with life abroad. Generally speaking he left the person you know, and will come back the person you know to a certain extent. just my $0.02 but what do i know? just pick up where you left off and don't worry about the things hes done. I've got so many storys that i don't tell people, that would drop jaws, nothing carnal, just personal things. and things civilians could never understand, or want to hear about. just understand that hes still the person that you knew when he left. wow... You just set my intentions on being an instructor... seriously, i suddenly know where to set my sights in my career as a skydiver. I lead and mentor soldiers, and what you wrote made feel proud inside not only as a leader, but as a skydiver as well. thanks. 'tear' Fly it like you stole it

i had something similar happen to me this weekend... ended way out from the spaceland over a lake, so had to fly back to the property, ended up over the swoop ditch, the clean pond, and was heading for powerlines and barbed wire fence on upwind i ended up on a crosswind landing in between the swoop ditch and the run way, had to lay on my canopy cuz the otter was comin back in... wasnt too bad a landing, little to no wind on 0.85WL on a 280. so i don;t really know where i want to go in my skydiving progression, belly flying is cool and all, and i did a six point skydive, and thought that was ok, maye better with more speed between movements, did my graduation jump, went head down and that felt great, but i dunno what i like yet, what else is there and how do get into these disciplines?
