  7. I think there was just a tandem fatality incident, outside the U.S., where a side flap opened prematurely, allowing the bag to slip out sideways, dragging the risers from one side through with it. The result was a partially open canopy with a violent spin. This sounds like a really bad idea to me. I don't want open sides, which allow my bag to slip out unexpectedly. This was with a Strong Tandem system, Basik's Advance or Seven is not concerned in this. The main canopy was far too small for the container . 8. We've talked about those before in this forum, as a potential problem. And now we have proof that it's actually happened. Previous discussion, from 4 years ago: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1518168;#1518168 It's not a packing mistake. It's a mistake the jumper made in choosing to add something to his gear that isn't supposed to be there. The lesson to be learned here, is the same old tired lesson that we've preached for years, to which the new guys never listen: Don't monkey around with your gear without expert advice - seemingly harmless things can cause major problems. +100000000000000 Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468

  10. The only reason I didn't want your business was because you wanted 1° To cut our dealer by coming directly to us 2° You asked this dealer to take care of your direct order with measurements... So, I have to respect my dealers, the balance is several rigs sold on one side and one on the other. What game do you want me to play? 13. This is enough clear in the AS8015/B 5. COMPONENT QUALIFICATIONS: 5.1 Parachutes may be qualified as complete assemblies or as separate components (such as a canopy, a stowage container [pack], and/or a riser). The airworthiness of a parachute assembly, including other separately approved nonoriginal components, is the responsibility of the manufacturer who performs the certificating tests for the parachute assembly. The manufacturer shall publish and make available a list of interchangeable components which have passed the following tests in 4.3 when tested in conjunction with the assembly or component(s) being certificated. 16. Magnet by its nature can loose completely its magnetism or not at all when exposed to cold, real cold. Magnets are mainly made in samarium-cobalt, alnico, more rarely in néodynium-fer-bore (sorry I do not know the name in English of these materials). These mixed materials are not affected by cold, real cold even in a cryogenisation status. Water doesn't affect magnetism too and most of the stainless and steel are treated by cryogenisation to reinforced their structure during the forging process. 19. Yes, I know but it has been requested to be switched years ago after several problems. I do not remember the exact reason. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  20. Terry, I mean, the FXC eyelet must be mount on the extra pin and not on the cable itself as shown on the shot. So the purpose of this pin is as you said. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  21. Check the inner bridle length too running from kill line attachment to the drogue. If length is different this can be a reason. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  22. wrong routing of the FXC which must be mounted on the extra pin and not on the cable as shown. But this is not the reason of the opening. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  23. Jérôme, I believe you are thinking of CWH. We've started using their SR8 base rings on the Infinity. They also have a neat friction adapter available, which is currenly on the Para-tec rigs. As I understand, Para-tec has worked closely with CWH on the design of these adapters and will enjoy exclusivety rights for a period of time (good on them!). They are spring loaded like the Wichard pieces but its speculated that they will minimize wear. I managed to get my hands on a set and they are really nice
  24. Cold forging is not rare in the sport, some 3 rings used by major companies are cold forged. I do not remember the name of the company who is making and selling them. I will have the name tomorrow when back to my office. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  25. To avoid the possible wear, just lift the spring bar with your finger. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
