    Basik Seven

If having less flaps covering the freebag is such an improvement, then the side flaps and top/side flaps should be seen as slowing down the deployment in the case of a reserve deployment with the main in place. Those flaps cover quite a bit of the outline of the reserve freebag, similar to some other rigs. I do not really think the effect will be significant, but when they claim a benefit from fewer flaps and then have other flaps that are counter to that benefit, it seems strange. The difference is evident with the main in place the difference with other rigs goes from 0.5 to 0.75 sec.less. It is even more from a low speed after a cutaway. Several free bags still in the tray for a 0.5 sec because of their shapes. This is not he case with this idea. On the other hand, on a rig that will deploy as swiftly at the Basik Seven, how much do you really gain with a MARD? Look at the manual for that rig. There are only 2 flaps over the bag, once they are gone, there's nothing left to delay deployment. Sure, it has the staging loop that holds the two top horizontal cover things, but once you get bridle stretch, the bag is not going to stay on your back, since there is quite literally nothing left to retard it. Just finding a place to put a MARD will not be easy, and will likely mess up an elegent design. They should send me one so I can get people interested in it here in NorCal!

Thank you Drew, I have to work on the web site, I will as soon as I could. Concerning the MARD, no way, here is why. We developp this in 99 for the Advance rig and it has been display at the PIA symposium, so years ago before it become a UPT product. Our no side flaps reserve container system make more difficult its use and after several testings we found more inconvenients than good things and it can even be deadly in some configurations, (this for any rigs). So, I put the good and the bad in a balance without taking care of the marketing blabla and the result was more bad than good. So I took the decision to stop the sales of this toy. 12. The other one is made by CWH, something like that. This company is held by people working for Wichard previously. The spring on their model is set flat against the webbing but the looking is less nicer. mPOD...

We have this concept idea somewhere in the manufacturing since years and maybe we will use it. We have to take care of the minus and maximus canopy size to be fit into the bag. The volume issue is very important with such bag. Then the design of the container is important either because the lines volume is display to another part of the container tray.... 16. Hi Peter, EEC is a big mess with EASA but we are not concerned any more (as sport equipement manufacturer) by them. We went back under control of our NAA. If you need more infos concerning EEC rules, feel free. Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  17. Hi all, thank you for your answers, you all answered different ways. Do not considering the main canopy in my question. Up to the AS8015/B there are 3 approval types, tandem, emergency and sport. Emergency and sport have different testing stage (emergency type has less testing to be done than sport). So, Paul gave a good answer concerning the cutaway because when we leave the airplane we do not want to use the reserve, this means the reserve canopy could be classified as emergency too. So, why do we have 2 classifications and how can you check on the label in which category the canopy has been certified for? I haven't seen any informations to be sure which one is classified in emergency or in sport. The EASA list is a mess, you even have tandem system classified as emergency, funny..You have canopies like Olympics, Papillon, etc too. anyway, thank you for your infos. 18. I have one question for you Riggers. How can you recognized if the canopy has a TSO under Emergency (non intentional jump) or Sport (intentional jump) classification? It seems to me there is no special marking to differentiate them?? Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
  19. The process is simple, because technical specs are the same (AS8015/B). As soon as you get your J or E-Tso-C23d you send all paperwork application to your local NAA. Then they get in touch with the FAA to obtain the TSO-C23d approval. Then you wait several months to get it. 25. This system is the improved model of the LES system developped by Eric from the Sorcerer idea and used with Advance rigs in 99. The original has been shown at the PIA San Diego 99. Eric has made a lot of improvements on it since then. The original patent application date from earlier 80's.
