  1. I remember one time when I was gearing up a student and the side connector broke, I just thought for a moment about what could happen if it broke when we left the plane. Amazing how we can get into a mindset that nothing out of the ordinary will go wrong on a tandem. I check them 3-4 times after we're hooked together, before we move to the door, cause it can happen, rare as hell, but can, and I and the tandem are worth it. Just lettin you know, Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  2. Speedy, if you tandems go nude, You'll never have to worry. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  3. Its to obvious insn't it John! Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  4. Thank you for that informative post, I hope we can get more from you, your knowledge is to valuable to be wasted in silence, matt Any thoughts on smaller tandem main spinning mal stuff? Keep your packer happy perhaps? Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  5. How do you know the skyhook will make a difference when you've never been in that situation. Denial is a skydivers worst enemy. Don't wait to find this out when you tumbling across the sky, like others have. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  6. Why does it not work out to be that easy in the field, why does it not work out to be that easy when sport jumpers have problems with spinning mals, some of which cannot even cut them away? What your saying is that what has been experienced in the field is not real, and that line of thought will kill people, you cannot provide a fantasy solution for a real problem, especially when it involves jumping out of an airplane, wake up Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  7. You said the key word here, conscience. Some instructors in the sport take the Eric Cartman approach to safety. Its not there top priority. Why, cause they don't approach it that way, they can't see past their needs. You here them in their posts not even acknowledging that a tandem passenger doesn't sign on to meet the instructors needs, they sign on to learn to experience what we all want. Our job, get them through this, as safe as we can. Tandems are inherintly dangerous, just within themselves. If you don't think so, do them for a long time, you'll soon see just how many things can go wrong, and do on occassion. If your gonna make smaller canopies, better deal with the cutaway question, its not been dealt with on Strongs well enough, and 22lbs on a cutaway with a large load, and small wing is going to be exceeded, guarenteed. 8. Your right on on this. Everything else important in life requires some test of competency before you can get approved. Its easier to have a child than to do the simplest things in life. Children will always suffer the unfaced conflicts in their parents, they cannot avoid absorbing their parents denial, cause they see it, and then have to forget seeing it to survive. 9. Funny as shit, your so right. Its a horror isn't it, that those are real people, real children, I have it so well. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  10. Glad your an instructor Dave, the students are safer with that maturity, matt Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  11. This is amazing, you have no clue what I'm talking about. A streamering spinning mal. I take it you've never had one? Listen, just imagine that set 400 coming out of the bag and starting to rotate right away, spinning the risers up, getting the tension on the 3 ring real tight, now imagine this with 500 lbs on it, now take that set 400 and shrink it by about 120 square feet, this is what we're discussing. The cutaway force will be crazy, and so may the rsl reserve deployment when they come off that spinning grim reaper Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  12. You didn't answer the question about cut away force. I did not see the test stuff in 93, buy main canopies do not fly, open, nor perform like they did in 93. Now we're talking about smaller than 300 sq feet tandem mains. Most of us with very small, high loaded mains do not where a rsl, there is a reason, a huge reason for this, I've seen and felt the reason bounce off my leg on a tandem reserve with an rsl. The reason is obvious for those willing to acknowledge it. I wonder why most people are afraid to look at this and acknowledge this. The reason is cause its a pink elephant. If you put high loadings on smaller tandem mains, give em a spinning, fast mal, your gonna have some fatalities from reserve entanglements, and problems or fatalities from hard cutaways, its that way in the sport. PS, the people who died trying to get stable to deploy the reserve did so cause they had to fight their ass off to cut it away for so long cause it was hard and they were spinning fast and were flung off it, thats exactly the situation I'm talking about not putting tandems in by with small tiny canopies. this question needs to be fixed before it hits the showroom floor, tandems are people who've no clue Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  13. I don't know how many tandems you have, nor how many tandem mals, but its clear not many. Cause at the very least your reply would have been close in agreement with what I said, not only tandem hard cutaways, but also the force from the sheer wing loading causing tumbling and spinning on cutaway. reserve deployments have failed in the past due to unclear/unstable reserve deployments, causing fatalities with large canopy spinning main mals. But the issue hear is your not hearing what I said, cause it sounds like you've not been there, or been their enough. Have seventeen tandem mals, one of these a reserve. There is nothing like having a tandem customer scared shitless and not being able to get them to relax cause yourself scared shitless fighting to keep a reserve stable enough to land. Your perspective on things changes. This needs to be addressed in R and D, not the field. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  14. I just read a thread about a guy who had a tandem mal, spinning on a set 400 and he struggled to cut it away. Been there, but thats not my point. I hear talk of making tandem main canopies faster, smaller and more high performance. I can't tell you how pissed I get when I reflect on how many people out there have no concept that its gonna kill people, tandem customer who don't sign on for that risk. I tell you why. Load that high performance tandem canopy with 400-500lbs. Give em a spinning streamer, for those who've not had one on a tandem, they can make you shit yourself there so scary, and have them try and cut it away. Let alone with an rsl that is guarenteed to deploy the reserve in the most horrible of configurations when they come of that main tumbling. If you've never been there, you won't relate to what I am writing, and this will kill people eventually, trust me, we get by with lots of close calls in this sport. If you build one of these tiny tandem mains, you better address this, some new type of main release that cuts away easier, something. We in the field should not be your test jumpers on this stuff. matt Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  15. What do you think of the f'genuises who want a 280 square ft tandem main. You know how fast thats gonna turn with 500lbs and a spinning streamer. Yes, for those out there, turning tandem mains into higher performance canopies is the stupidest thing you can do, and there will be fatalities, don't act suprised when it happens Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  16. Just about where everyone else is. I stick to 225 now. I've seen a tandem reserve blow up, and I have to tell you, they can. On very large tandems that arch, compact people, I go at least 145 to 150mph, its a fact, camera people with skytronics and lots of weight and frustration will vouge for this. At 150, release the drog and collapse it on a sigma, then take a passenger into a stand position while waiting for the snivel, let alone the chance of a bag lock, your gonna fucken scream, then if you have a bag lock, have to cutaway, your are a missile, thats the bottom line, that reserve is not tso'd for these parameters, and possibly will not handle this. Let alone if you side load it on un unstable reserve deployment, all bets are of. I've been on streamers with passengers 230bs, your a rocket. You need to sit back and really think about the risk, and then ask yourself does this person really understand this risk, and then am I willing to stand up in court and defend this decision, sorry to be the party pooper, but its gotta be said, You will too after you've seen it go wrong, if you don't understand sideloading, you better, Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  17. Everything you just wrote was thinking, happy/unhappy people are looking for one thing, emotion. They want good feelings, not bad ones. When people are looking for their emotions outside themselves, they are complete slaves to external experiences. Emotions come from inside of us, not outside, people just give each other light and sound vibrations, the emotions come from the archtypes that are inborn patterns activated by the images that come through the optic nerve. When an image comes through that activates the archetype, or childhood stored memory on that gladular structure, that part of the brain starts to send out its neurotranmitters, and we experience those as feelings. The problem is that when we do not understand this process, we externalize this whole process as coming from the outside world, this is called being "attatched," or symbiotically being attatched. Its also called ego dystonic. Most people have no fucken clue what ego means. Ego means consciousness, and it means that when we actually start to arrive in this world, to reach a state of actualization, we start to understand inner and outer, and we learn about our filters inside, and we stop reacting to the external environment, and we are able to activate our emotions/energies from inside, and not allow our energies to be depleated by external events, this is when your ego arrives, its the part of the brain that knows inner and outer. Most people have no clue about when I've just wrote, they have no ego, they are bound up still acting out there family of origin times that remain the template for their lives, pleasing the rules, father, and trying to seek out love, the mother. Yes there is transpersonalism, and the well goes way deeper than I just described. But if someone doesn't understand this, they have no clue about anything else, regulation of conscious experience comes from the inside first, healthy children know this, stop accepting the world of illusion, maya, as reality. This brought to you from the LAW firm of Budda, Christ, Freud, and Jung Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  18. I'll bet he protested that, politician lover, enabler, I came to this thread to laugh, its funny, theres some truth to my point, he probably is a little light in the groin area, Just like David Hasselhoff Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  19. Hillarious, I lived in minnesota for a while, like canada, not a whole lot to fight about when people are just living their lives. yes, and not trying to control each other. Don't you think fear makes people cling to belief systems rather than seek out objective reality, I mean, belief systems are almost directly opposed to reality. We clearly are set to leave this planet, and I know that scares the hell out of many people cause they are going to really see how belief systems just don't apply when we are forced to look at the bigger picture that exists outside this tiny cobalt blue forest we're so protected by. What do you folks think of humans more interested in discovery, exploration, and some sixth sense of interconnectivity, like esp, etc. for a future? Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  20. What I'm asking, is what would a world look like without war, what would we live like without war. How would nations interact. The reason it doesn't exist, is cause people don't think it can, so its not a possibility, so few work, think, act, and demand leadership in that direction. Your god damn people who will get out of a plane, what does out of the box look like on this one, don't be an in the box looser, theres already too many of these, they called woofoo's, cmon I have a big problem with belief systems, there not reality, they are subjective reality, the problem is when people think their subjective reality is reality, then they push their system on others, as if their reality, or they get offended when others question theirs. Let belief system go, they fuck us up and keep us confined. No one knows reality, just their own, and its not reality. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  21. I love you, best post yet Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  22. The only war I'd ever fight in would be a war to end war. People thought ww1 and ww2 were suppose to do this. What do you think it'd look like, life afterward. If you can't see it, don't post, your still in the box Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  23. I'm so glad you didn't take offense, I'm gonna start a new thread on this, war to end all wars. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  24. How about living in a house with others, any school class. Why aren't birds that fly next to each others crazy. How about people who jump out of airplanes for that matter, that triggers fear in the brain Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
  25. You've lost your mind, make bagdad a green zone. Thats like saying make siagon a green zone, your crazy. In no way is this a solution. This whole things a shit pie. The only way out, is to stop maya, the world of illusion, and start unifying people instead of polarizing them. Bagdad, Iraq, these are all just symptoms of failed leadership, that doesn't have a clue how to accomplish freeing people, and does not have any credibility. You wait and see, this is not going anywhere except suckassville for those people dieing. the only way out is to start a real war to end all wars, otherwise, this is just a repeat of the old ones, and a prelude to the ones to come. Those stuck in maya, seek to be seen.
