  1. Good call! SDC is always a great place to visit during th summer, and CSC is also just down the road (also a fun fun dropzone...no reason not to check out BOTH!) Of course, if you come to sdc, there's always the chance of taking a ride with me and Sunny in the c-mobile! Chicago is also a really great place to visit during the summer....lots of fests, and all the touristy stuff is in full force then. Quite a few of us live & work in the city, so there are always skydivers up for lunch/drinks if you're in town! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

    Mean kids

It was mainly verbal. I think there may have been a little shoving, but they were playing football, so it was a mix of all of the kids shoving each other. My brother has taken the kids to martial arts classes and showed them a few tricks, too. Haha! I should've done that. I also feel pretty ashamed because of one other thing that I did. The kid was bragging how awesome he was at bags or whatever that game is called....and I taunted him in a fifth-grade way..."No, you probably aren't." I know how immature it was of me, and I would've just pulled the mother aside and told her about her awful son had she been around.... It's just really hard to sit there and do nothing. It's not in my nature! And, hi, Jeff! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

    Mean kids

My wonderful and beautiful nephew celebrated his 7th birthday tonight with friends (ie, neighborhood kids) and family (ie, the crazy people.) Is it just natural for every neighborhood to have a bully and their sidekick like in "A Christmas Story"? I noticed these two boys picking on my nephew a bit (and being the old, crazy aunt who can't keep her mouth shut, I told the one that he's a brat. Oops. In my defense, his mom, as usual, wanders off letting everyone else watch her kids....never disciplining them...he's probably never heard that he was a brat!) Seeing as I love my nephew dearly, it upsets me to see kids picking on him. What do you say to a child that has "friends" that aren't being nice? I'm guessing my method of calling him a brat was inappropriate, and I'm guessing my other desire to now go buy my nephew all the coolest toys isn't right either (this is why I should never reproduce.) Yes, I also know that since I'm not the parent, it's not my place...but I am curious as to how other people have handled it. At least I know that my nephews are the coolest kids on the block! 17. #1 That just means that (no offense) you are getting old. "Kids these days!!!!" Of course, it depends on how you looking morality. Maybe from one person's point of view, they see things as better nowadays since there is less racism than there was 60 years ago. Maybe another person sees things as being worse morality-wise since we weren't in a war 10 years ago. #2 You could also make the case that since the proportion of Atheists in prison is less the proportion of Atheists in the population, being an Atheist keeps people out of prison (hence, Atheists are even MORE moral than the rest). However, correlation does not imply causation. Just because two conditions exist simultaneously does not mean one cause the other. Religion can affect a community as a whole. For example, women getting harassed when walking into a Planned Parenthood....or homosexuals having to fear for their lives. To look at only the good things religion can do (soup kitches, shelters, etc) and not acknowledge the horrible things makes your opinion come across as one sided. 19. I have been to a wide variety of Christian services (none that are fundamentalist.) Sure, much of the service is dedicated to "be nice to people" and "this is what makes a good person." A lot of it was listening to tone deaf people (including me) sing. A part of it was taking mythology and teaching it as fact. My guess is that it would be difficult to find a Sunday school that didn't teach the Adam and Eve story. Maybe you don't see teaching children incorrectly about the first humans or how the Earth was made as teaching physical phenomena. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  20. Pardon the anecdotal evidence, but I see science and religion both trying to understand and explain what we don't know (ie, they have the same goal.) Even my nephew who learns in school the actual origins of the Earth and will soon learn about evolution, even he breaks down the beginnings of the Earth to his Sunday bible school teachings. (ie, "What happened on the first day?" "What happened on the second day?" "Adam and Eve were the first people.") The biggest difference I see between science and religion trying to explain what we don't know is that one admits to not knowing and the other fakes it. I don't know how helpful it is to kids to lie to them and tell them certain things are true when they might not be. Religion is not necessary for a person to live with morals, but if that's how a person chooses to live, that's fine. I'm not quite sure how moral it is to talk about eternal damnation of others (as mentioned in this thread.) It is tiresome to hear people equate being religious with being moral (I especially love it when someone acts like a complete jerk and uses "god" to make themselves feel okay about it.) Yes, religious people can do good things like work at soup kitchens and build houses. So can non-religious people, so I don't see how religion has much to do with people's desires to want to help others. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  21. Yes, it was!!! We had to rewind and watch it a few times! I never really cared for Kalib to begin with. I wish we could've seen the Belcher fight. I'm surprised he lost, and I really like his shorts. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  22. I was really wanting to see Quarry win, and I don't know if Kalib choked under pressure or what, but I was disappointed in that fight (except for Nate's comical running man.) I'm also glad my stalkee (Bisping) won! I don't care if everything else hates him now. I'm a TRUE FAN (ie, stalker.) There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  23. Often times when I dream, I have very strong feelings whether it's fear from someone trying to stab me or happiness over winning a million dollars. A lot of times when I wake up, I'll still feel those things and it takes me a second or two to realize it was just a dream. The feelings are intense yet based on nothing but my brain dreaming. Feelings aren't exactly proof of something outside of ourselves. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
