  1. I found the Ignore feature!!! Oh how I wish this function existed 20 years ago on this site! lol!
  2. WENDY!!!!! How are you?!?!?!?!?! I haven't seen you in over 10 years!!!!
  3. BILL!!!! I miss you! How are your boys? Tell Amy I said hello!
  4. Hey Dropzone.com! I'm bored at work and am online because some things never change after 20+ years. Anyone still come to visit here? I don't jump anymore because I'm old and boring now, but I miss the community and I HATE social media! Miss (some of) you all!
  5. Maybe, but one thing that I find strange is the differences in pricing for Skyventure vs iFly. For example, Skyventure AZ is $750/hour without coaching (quoted from the website, yes I'm aware that it can be bought cheaper.) iFly Denver is $825/hour. I don't know about maintenance or staff at AZ, but assuming it's equal to Denver, I'm curious to know the logic behind the pricing structures. 6. I love me some Skyventure/iFly tunnels, but I agree for selfish reasons. The prices to fly have increased so much over the years, and they can since iFly dominates the market. I'm hoping that either competition or tunnel saturation drives those prices down some. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  7. I'm going with my family! I think we're going in February 2015. I suppose I should find out the actual dates, huh? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  8. Nope. Consider a blind man in a field five miles away from a thunderstorm. To him, he only knows lightning has struck when he hears the thunder. From his point of view, his sighted friend standing next to him can literally see into the future. This is precisely what FTL telecommunication would be like. It wouldn't alter time, it would simply get information to a location faster. Consider a woman in Chicago a few thousand miles away from you. To her, this still doesn't make sense. I read the link from Bill three times before giving up, but it sounds really cool! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  9. Only if I can sit next to the tunnel with a sign, "Will wash windows for tunnel time," and have people put their spare minutes in a mug. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  10. Many reasons! - I think the tunnel is more fun - I don't have to sit in a plane or pack (or pay a packer!) to fly - It's a two hour drive to the dz (depending on traffic.) Waking up on a Saturday, driving out to the dz, making a couple of jumps, and driving all the way back home is really time consuming for just a couple of jumps. - I learn MUCH faster in the tunnel. - I'm getting too old to break an ankle! I consider myself very lucky I never had to go to the hospital from skydiving, and I want to quit while I'm ahead! - My gear is old and sh*tty. I'd have to buy new gear to freefly without being scared in the sky. I wasn't skydiving enough to buy new gear. - Last summer, every time I picked a weekend to go out to the dz, something else would come up that sounded like more fun....so, I never made it out to the dz. There are many things I miss about skydiving, and if I ever miss it too much, I can always go back. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  11. ***To be fair, they don't call it a boogie. They call it a Jam, and an Event. Everyone knows jam is more expensive than preserves.[/quote There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  12. A-fucking-men (though I didn't watch the original), I feel the same about Zoe. I can't recommend the original enough. I like Ian Richardson a little bit better than Spacey (not much, but a little bit.) I like Robin Wright quite a bit more than Diane Fletcher, and I also enjoy the dynamic in their marriage more in the US version. The Zoe/Mattie character was night and day. In the UK version, she's actually able to portray smart yet naive. I also enjoyed the dynamic in their relationship more as well in the UK version. In the US version, she just come across like a famewhore. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  13. The Zoe Barnes = Mattie Storin went as expected. The difference was that I was sad about Mattie but glad about Zoe. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  14. I'm glad I pop in every now and then to read Bill's funnies! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  15. So, you've met Val then? (Don't hurt me, Val!) I am not ashamed at all with how slow of a learner I was in learning to flying on my head. That sh*t is hard!!!! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  16. I'm actually making my coach move to Chicago so that I stick with the same one Thanks for the input everyone! I was already leaning towards flying in smaller chunks on a weekly basis anyways, and this confirms it! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  17. I don't jump anymore, so....tunnel backed up with tunnel. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  18. For those of you that have had the luxury of a tunnel nearby for years, what is the best way to learn? Is it better to fly 15 minutes every week or one hour every month? For my own enjoyment, I would probably be happier flying a smaller amount more frequently, but I do want to learn how to not fly so crappy as well. 19. I just can't get away from that guy! I'd put a restraining order on him if I were you. Like that would work. I swung by yesterday, and I'm happy that without traffic, it's just a 25 minute drive for me! Attached the pic I snapped while doing my happy dance. 20. Oh for f***'s sake. He brought up the elephant in the room even though skydivers are supposed to be "one big happy family." Yes, it's true that many skydivers don't want to jump with others that aren't skillful. We can all accept it. Moving on... A few things that helped me along the way (other than a lot of tunnel time) - Go to boogies with plenty of freefly organizers. If a boogie has just one freefly organizer, their time is going to get eaten up quickly. There are other boogies (Carolinafest comes to mind) that have plenty of organizers for all levels. They do a good job of matching skill levels, so you can continue jumping with others. - Improve your skills. (Go to a tunnel camp or pay for a coach.) The "pay it forward" atmosphere of skydiving, while it is still there, is becoming less prevalent. You can either fight it, complain about it, or accept it. If you want to jump with people at a certain skill level, in general you need to obtain that skill level. There are still exceptions to this, and I am grateful to those that have slummed it with me over the years. - Be happy belly flying. And that is also a-ok. If you find that they are more welcoming, there really is no reason to become a part of the cool kids club. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I love the amazon reviews. I need to start using this phrase in my everyday life. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  23. It's not just wishing. I'm actively drinking from other people's beverages on all of my flights. I'm hoping this is the year I get a week or two off with some bed rest. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  24. I'm not getting the flu shot so that I can get sick and get some time off from work to rest. Hospital stay would be preferred. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  25. That's awful! Unless, of course, the president of the HOA complained about his phone being on vibrate and the tv being too loud at 10:30 am. If so, then I totally get it. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
