Thanks guys for your feedback! Great stuff for me to think about.. I'll explain a bit.. I'm diverting from a voiceover - layover footage format. Instead I'm doing a sort of 'a day in the life' type thing.. it's a voyeuristic view of a day at school. It's got a few 30 second scripted scenes using students (but to look completely spontaneous) in different locations. I wanted to do something creative to link each location. But you're right.. it could just be overkill. My next question is.. if I do use some crafty editing very sparingly through the video, does it still work? With editing, do you think it is an all or nothing? Like does the whole thing have to conform to the style of the few cool edits? Or is it possible to have a piece that is relatively normal and just put a few cool things here and there - and have it work?

My summer job @ the moment is to create a prospectus DVD for a school from scratch. This means I have to do everything from scripting to filming to editing. I've only really done documentary type stuff with really boring edits (fades, dissolves, cuts). I've decided I want to be a bit experimental with this video (it's been approved). I was wondering if any of you guys could share some cool editing tips/ effects that I might be able to use. I'm using Adobe Premiere but even if you just describe the effect, I could figure out how to do it. So far I have stuff like quick freeze frame cuts to show someone going from one place to another, have someone running - freeze them to show something in the background (ie. a trophy cabinet) - unfreeze then and resume the scene.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

On a guy.. long-ish hair is so sexy! It doesn't have to be Johnny Depp long but even hair that has some length to it and can have the messy look is so hot compared to the number 1 or 2 cut. As for the amount of time girls spend on their hair - I have long hair (mid-back) and I haven't touched a hairdryer or used any styling products in at least 2 years. There are girls who have the pixie look that spend heaps of time infront of the mirror with gel trying to get the spikyness perfect. So I think maintenance time just depends on the girl, not the length of her hair.

I met up with some of them yesterday right before they left Bangkok. I don't think they are jumping today (Sunday), there is some sort of parade organized up in Udon. The jumping starts tomorrow...

Maybe at the end of the day everyone is just different and thus attracted to different people. I guess that's why they say there is some one out there for you.. .. & that sort of brings about another point of discussion. Is there one person out there for you or many people that could be 'the one'? One love or many loves?

That's true! You know... I used to be one of those people - whenever some guy would comment superficially on girls, I would say "how about her personality, you are so superficial". But then I slowly realized that personality is all good but you have to be physically attracted to the person too.. that sexual attraction is half the relationship. No matter how great their personality, if you're not attracted to them, then they fall into the friends basket. And I figured out women. It's too easy. If she likes the guy, he could do anything (send her flowers, sms her 10 times in a day, show up at her door - whatever) and she would think it was adorable and sweet. Whereas if she doesn't like the guy and he did the same things, she would think he was a freak. It all boils down to whether or not she likes the guy.. and that is the enigma for you guys.

The challenge is what makes it exciting. And some girls just get bored easily.. nice guys are boring, assholes keep you on your toes. There is something about assholes... they treat you like shit but the fact that they're not bending over backwards for you is what interests you.. can't explain it.

Do you guys know anything about cars? Ok.. about a week ago I was driving and this guy on a motorbike knocked on my window and told me that my petrol tank was leaking. I drove it to the nearest parking lot & found that it was indeed trailing petrol. I took it to the service center, they kept the car for 3 days and told me that some pipe at the bottom had become loose from wear and tear so it was dripping and they replaced it. Drove my car for the next few days, no problems. Got in the car today, could smell petrol.. (maybe cos I was in a parking lot?) but I was paranoid. Drove the car about 5 metres, parked it, got down and looked underneath. The place it had been parked, at the spot near the tailpipe, there was a wet spot on the ground. I touched it and sniffed it and it seemed like oil so I didn't take the car. Later in the day, a friend of mine told me that when you start a car with a good engine (it's a BMW), it is normal for a bit of water/ residue to come out of the tailpipe. Is this true? Or do I have a problem with the car again?

I had my belly button pierced back during the start of high school.. I got rid of it as soon as the fad caught on and everyone else got one. Then I got my tongue pierced when I was in year 12 at boarding school. My dad saw it when he came for my graduation so I was forced to take it out. I had it out for the summer holidays and got it done again the day my dad left Sydney (he went to drop me for uni). Managed to keep it hidden from him for a year... I took it out at the end of my freshman year as the plane was taking off to go back home - I guess I just kind of mentally outgrew it.

I didn't want to comment because I'm not a BASE jumper... but I was just thinking.. From the facts that we know, it appears that these guys were relatively inexperienced jumpers and didn't go through the proper channels of training (at least we know Scott didn't). Is it possible then, that they went on the jump, the worst happened - and they just panicked? These guys aren't known to the jumpers in the region in which they were jumping, maybe they were just a little misinformed about how to deal with such a situation. Perhaps they just panicked and that's why they left him and made that call.. and now the consequences of their actions have mounted up that it is too late for them (in their perception) to act responsibly? Condolences to the family..

i'm from thailand and have been down there.. it's the only dz in thailand.. the next closest one is malaysia.. it's not the biggest dz but its decent, the people were nice.. make sure you call them before you go down there as skydiving in asia just hasn't taken off yet so they're not very busy and so are not open all the time.. just google skydiving thailand and you will find their website which has more info.. contact stephen- [email protected] good luck!

I'm really curious.. I'm pretty young so I can't really answer this question just as yet but I'm hoping some of you with more life experience will be able to.. You know that incredible sexual tension/ chemistry type feeling when you meet someone? Not the kind that grows with time.. but the massive magnetic attraction type thing that is two way and just present from the moment you guys meet that is so so powerful.. And it doesn't fade, your relationship is just dominated by this force of attraction that you just can't control or understand. Whether or not you guys are 'best friend' compatible is totally irrelevant.. this chemistry is so overpowering it just makes everything work.. Do you know the feeling? How many times in life do you encounter it? Is it pretty common - happens with everyone you're sexually attracted to? Or is it incredibly rare?

We agreed to everything they said, paid the ridiculous amount they asked + cab fare for the 3 hours we were in the taxi (they dropped us to my house). We got the weed. Bar the one joint we smoked, we ended up 'depositing' it all into the swimming pool the next day - but that's another story
