3 years in April but I use it like my life depends on it... is it something that happens with time? Also, does anyone know (roughly) how much a new battery costs? What is the average lifespan of a laptop (heavily used)? I really want a Macbook Pro!!

What's wrong with my laptop? When I went to bed last night, I shut the top as normal leaving it on standby. This morning I've discovered that my laptop will no longer stay on if the power is unplugged. It's so weird. As soon as the power is unplugged, it goes dead. It won't start or do anything on its battery. I've left it charging for a few hours, still dies instantly when unplugged.. I suspect it's a battery problem but am curious to hear from anyone who knows for sure.. It is a HP Pavilion zt3000 if that makes any difference.

I saw a bit of a skydiving video the other day, it was awesome but I forgot to ask what it was called. I'm hoping someone else here will know... The opening sequence had two people jumping with a couch in a lounge room set up over a desert. There was some footage of the Fly Boyz. There was also some footage of BASE jumps in the Baffin islands. That's all I saw. Anyone?

If you go to the APF website (Australian Parachute Federation), under publications you should find a sample A lic exam.. else if there is the "Manual for the A license candidate" there, it is the in last few pages. It's a few pages long and has to be filled out in advance. Most of the answers aren't actually in the manuals they give us, we are meant to chat with skydivers at the DZ and ask them the questions. Thanks guys for the help!!

I'm going for my A lic theory exam tomorrow and although I have all the answers filled out I am a little confused about the concept of drag on a canopy. I intended to go to the DZ last weekend and ask but I got sick and didn't make it.. so please can someone explain to me (in simple-ish terms) what is drag exactly? Cheers!

...November 2005, Tuesday evening, I was in a friend's room drunk and upset. I had just split from this guy I had been seeing- a BASE jumper. Before him, I had never ever thought that the jumping world consisted of anything more than tandems. He showed me that video of Jeb Corliss' numerous times. I was fascinated and curious. That fateful Tuesday evening I decided 'stuff it, i don't need to live vicariously through him'. I called up and booked a tandem for the next day. I also looked into go karting and organized to go to a meet and speak with people on the weekend. I decided I would pursue the sport I liked better. Day of the tandem, I'm all alone at the DZ in the midst of European couples. Hadn't really thought about it til it was time to jump. Then I started freaking out but before I knew it I was in the air. The first thing I said to the TM as soon as the parachute opened was "you have the best job in the world". I ended up borrowing money and selling my stuff on eBay so I could take the FJC that same weekend. I then realized I had no money and was going to be overseas for 3 months. I came back in March this year with a job and a plan and here I am.. I never made it to go-karting.

I'll take the bet... My home DZ is Sydney Skydivers. I am happy to put a jump on your account if I lose! Good luck

Saturday and Sunday sucked anyway. Monday was the only day you would have been able to get into the air... That is the best news I've heard all week! I'm still sick and it's annoying me.. I just want to jump but after reading a lot of old threads about what can happen I guess I've just gotta sit it out..

Looks like Japan just fell apart late in the second half...Australia scored three goals against them in the last seven minutes of the game to win 3-1 I was really rooting for them to win this one. It'll take a miracle for them to advance to the second round with Brazil and Croatia as their next opponents I know hey! I just started a thread about Australia's win cos I so can't believe it.. my mouth is still hanging open. I'm living in Australia and for the whole last 2 weeks everyone has been taking the piss out of the fact that Australia is even in the World Cup - I can't believe they won! And in total style!

Sarcasm? I found Germany's play vs. Costa Rica as mechanical and painful to watch as always (albeit quite effective)... Hahaha I was actually being genuine but I only watched the extended highlights, this time difference thing is killing me! I still think Germany will win. If play remains consistent I think England will put up a good fight. And Luis Figo is on fire! Portugal just need to mesh and they'll be ok!!

I have quit a few times on months at a go (the only reason I got back into it is because my boyfriend smokes and I don't have that much will power). The way is to go cold turkey and change the environment with which you associate smoking with. Clean up the area, maybe move stuff around, get rid of the ash trays etc I have a mate who just quit, I was shocked because he was the biggest smoker I knew. He tried patches but didn't work.. he eventually got this puffer thing.. so everytime he feels like a ciggie he just puffs this nicotine thing and is fine.. Good luck & tell me how you did it!
