  1. Sounds like it to me. What one state does effects every other state more now than it ever has in the past due to our increased mobility. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  2. The Army uses different types of ground surveillance radar (GSR) in tactical environments. I've had several GSR units attached to my platoon when I was a scout platoon leader. They are extremely effective if they have a good crew. They require a 24/7 crew though because the operator has to identify hits as dismount, wheeled vehicle, tracked vehicle, donkey, etc. Unmanned ground sensors would be giving false hits constantly and waste manpower trying to determine what the hits were. Especially in an environment where the target area is not sealed (like a combat zone). My platoon had the unmanned ground sensors but we never used them because they went off with every rabbit and raccon that walked by. If there is enough intelligence to narrow down the GSRs search area they become very effective. My guess (and this is only a guess) is that the Army has been using these sensors but just now has been able to focus them on specific areas to find UBL. The press got a hold to this information and interpreted it to mean that they are just now being used in theatre. I've seen very few news stories about the military that were entirely correct. They constantly call Bradley's a tank, get ranks incorrect, and misidentify units. I've corrected a few MSNBC reporters on their mistakes. They thank me and do it again later. I get the impression they don't really care. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  3. They are using a longer key that is shaped like a pen. It is easier to handle than the small regular cuff key. Some guys are so big and inflexible that they can't get their hands close enough behind them in order to get a regular set of cuffs on them. The chain is too short. We've had to use leg irons for hand cuffs to cuff some really big guys. They make large cuffs too. Sometimes the regular sized cuffs won't fit around their wrists. Most of them are nice. Sometimes it just takes a little persuasive dialogue to bring out their manners.
  4. I've seen some gang members (mostly white types) who can get out of hand cuffs (double locked and cuffed in the rear) extremely quickly if they are allowed to wiggle around unsupervised. It is very impressive. I've even seen pictures of gang members arrested with needles inserted under their skin in the wrist area (I've never seen it myself, I don't work gangs). When handcuffed they had planned on pulling the pin out and picking the cuffs with it. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  5. Nope, I haven't used them recreationally. They refused to issue us the velvet cover that is supposed to go with handcuffs........at least all of the cuffs I've seen before had a velvet cover.
  6. Kallend, aren't you the one complaining about the deficit all of the time? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=948500;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Are you saying he should spend more? 7. Damn, for once I'm going to agree with you. There are a lot of people in the Federal Government (read that as most) who don't play the political game. They work for and swear to uphold the Constitution not a particular person. This is especially true of the military. If 15 years of working for the Federal Government has taught me nothing else, it has taught me that. It is hard to keep anything quiet in the US. Most countries are reluctant to share sensitive informationwith us because it always ends up on the front page of the newspaper. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." 8. Liberals will make it an issue no matter when he is captured. When he is put on trial maybe? That would be harder to contain than you seem to think. Thousands of people rotate through Camp X-ray on a regular basis. They are made up of almost every department the government has. I have several co-workers that have served there. Alot less is going on there than the press would have you to believe. Also, do you think the Pakis will keep their mouth shut? Some underling would run to the press to make a quick buck. Journalists pay big bucks for stories like that. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  9. So now we're being called ignorant white trash by someone who doesn't put any of his/her identifying information on the board. That takes guts! You don't have to do anything. God gave you that freedom. It's not hurting you for others to believe in God. Let it be. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  10. Where were you an O/C at and when? I was an O/C at JRTC from 1999 thru the middle of 2000. I did two rotations as Bluefor and a detailed rotation as an O/C augmentee before that. I also made a few to NTC in the early to mid 90's. We might have run into each other. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  11. Crap! I missed you. I need to check here more often. I'll catch you next time. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  12. I think I was disagreeing with your logic in the argument. You basically said 'the government has been wrong, ie lied, in the past so everything they say now must be treated as a lie until proven otherwise.' I still disagree with your logic. I don't think anyone has been proven to be lying yet. (At least not since Clinton left office). There are a lot of allegations but there always are and will be. BTW, Try not to hurt your arm while trying to do this. We'll get that machine for you soon. I'm taking up a collection. Maybe we'll get that Stroke 2000 for your ego too. 13. I've had a few very detailed discussions with Richard Morin by e-mail. I wouldn't characterize his political views as "Fair and Balanced" by any stretch of the imagination. He completely opposed the US doing anything to Afghanistan after 9-11 among other issues. I wonder why this sentence: is buried and kept out of the headlines. Answer - because that wasn't the anti-Bush statement they were trying to confer. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  14. Could you point out the part that was funny? I don't see it. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  15. Maybe he needs one of these. http://www.motivationalplus.com/Laugh%20Line/Laughline%2027.htm "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin

  18. It's the new HMMWV MG. Great for tactical operations in Urban European terrain where parking is at a premium. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  19. The problem with intelligence is you don't know whether it is shoddy or gold until after you have committed to it. By your reasoning we should never act on intelligence. Why would we want to collect it then? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  20. Since we seem to have a problem understanding people's posts let me explain. See the part where he put "remember?" at the end of an obvious fact? Where I come from that is called being a "smartass". It can be used two ways. One is to be funny when two people are joking with each other. The other way it can be used is to try and start a fight with a person when they are in a debate. Do you see it now? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  21. Do you understand the difference between responsibility, as it applies to leadership, and fault for a mistake? Bush evaluated all of the intelligence given to him and made a decision based on that intel. He is responsible for the decision. Now, the fact that some of that intelligence was incorrect was the fault of the intelligence gatherers and analysts who provided the faulty intelligence. You, and others, want Bush to take the blame that the intelligence was faulty or to state that he deliberately evaluated the intel incorrectly. "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  22. Semantics. We invaded Afghanistan. That is the "going in" that you were talking about. Billvon was talking about a snatch and grab mission in a hostile country that we had no forward base in. He was advocating we not "go in" as we did. Try to squirm out of it if you want. It is fairly obvious to me. Shouldn't there be a rule about the Greenies upholding some standards and not trying to pick fights? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
  23. Why are you changing the argument? We were talking about who was at fault for the faulty intelligence. Care to comment further on that? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." Ben Franklin
