  1. Its funny how all those that have defended or found no problems the practices of skyride/asc/ben/cary, have gone silent. Beezy, I'm sorry you have to deal with all this but Chris is smiling down on you for doing all the right things!
  2. Why don't you think that is unfair? Did I miss the scarcasim? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  3. After this, do you think the Enron guys are going to stick around to see what they get? I'm guessing they will flee the country, but then again, they don't think they did anything wrong. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  4. Welcome Back George! Glad to see you are still with us.

  6. 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Sheraton Pentagon South Hotel in Alexandria, Virgina So who are all going? I would assume with all the passionate complaining some of you guys are going to be there. Also - you might want to find out where your regional and those national directors stand with Skyride and other issues that may concern you to make sure your wants and needs are being met as a member o the USPA. I highly recommend every member attend to see how their elected officials, YOUR voice, is being heard, or if it even is. Hope to see you all there.

  8. Part of the problem are people who don't believe in personal responsibilty and want to do the blame game. People who don't want the injured or dead to be blamed for choices they make are the ones that seem to do all the unconstructive posting in the incidents and most of them were never ever there or even new the injured or deceased. Its more the way people respond here is why more incidents aren't posted, and it will only get worse. (both incidents and lack of posting to learn from them.) j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  9. and packed them all and a few more too didn't you? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  10. I think there is a few people who have made 100+ jumps during the WFFC (10 days) and packed them all. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  11. I thought about this quite a bit, but decided we are to fanatical about skydiving to let some stupid terrorist take our jump craft. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  12. Lots of homeless people live at dz's. Some live in tents some are more fortunate to live in trailers but some sleep on the floor of the packing area and live out of their car. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

  14. Are we talking canopy control or swooping? Swooping is a discipline and should be treated as such. Students are taught in the FJC how to land your canopy, not to swoop it or turn low (hook) to the ground. Those are OPTIONs in my book, if they choose to follow that discipline after they get their A then, they need to go get some good coaching. I fly a pattern and land like a student because I choose to set a good example for them. I guess that makes me Arrogant? 15. Happy Birthday Chaoskitty! Have a wonderful day.
  16. If the guy out and out right lied to him, I wouldn't jump there ever again. Why make up a bunch of lies that 3 loads have flown. Its not a funny joke for someone to drive that far and the place wasn't open. It sounds to much like a skyride thing. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  17. Lawrocket - is there anything we can do to stop the insanity? I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do, who to call, who to voice my concerns to. Any ideas? Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  18. I used to think it was religion, but after this... Government seems to be more corrupt at the local level than at the federal level, at least where I live. Aren't they doing this in Africia? and aren't 1mm+ people already displaced and homeless because of actions like these? Shit like this makes me feel embarrased to be an american. j j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  19. I understand they can do this for public uses, but Fk wal-mart if they want to build where my house is. They have plenty of money they can go else where. It pisses me off. Why (I realize you are not a Supreme Court Justice yet) do they give the local gov't authority over this bs, but won't let the local gov't rule themselve when it comes to the well being of the people that live there (i.e. medical marijauana). j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  20. Our government is starting to scare me. They used to just piss me off, now they scare me. I know they are not perfect but next thing they will try some type of "cleansing". j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  21. washingtonpost.com Supreme Court Rules Cities May Seize Homes By HOPE YEN The Associated Press Thursday, June 23, 2005; 10:50 AM WASHINGTON -- A divided Supreme Court ruled that local governments may seize people's homes and businesses against their will for private development in a decision anxiously awaited in communities where economic growth conflicts with individual property rights. Thursday's 5-4 ruling represented a defeat for some Connecticut residents whose homes are slated for destruction to make room for an office complex. They argued that cities have no right to take their land except for projects with a clear public use, such as roads or schools, or to revitalize blighted areas. As a result, cities now have wide power to bulldoze residences for projects such as shopping malls and hotel complexes in order to generate tax revenue. Local officials, not federal judges, know best in deciding whether a development project will benefit the community, justices said. "The city has carefully formulated an economic development that it believes will provide appreciable benefits to the community, including _ but by no means limited to _ new jobs and increased tax revenue," Justice John Paul Stevens wrote for the majority. He was joined by Justice Anthony Kennedy, David H. Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen G. Breyer. At issue was the scope of the Fifth Amendment, which allows governments to take private property through eminent domain if the land is for "public use." Susette Kelo and several other homeowners in a working-class neighborhood in New London, Conn., filed suit after city officials announced plans to raze their homes for a riverfront hotel, health club and offices. New London officials countered that the private development plans served a public purpose of boosting economic growth that outweighed the homeowners' property rights, even if the area wasn't blighted. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who has been a key swing vote on many cases before the court, issued a stinging dissent. She argued that cities should not have unlimited authority to uproot families, even if they are provided compensation, simply to accommodate wealthy developers. The lower courts had been divided on the issue, with many allowing a taking only if it eliminates blight. "Any property may now be taken for the benefit of another private party, but the fallout from this decision will not be random," O'Connor wrote. "The beneficiaries are likely to be those citizens with disproportionate influence and power in the political process, including large corporations and development firms." She was joined in her opinion by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, as well as Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Nationwide, more than 10,000 properties were threatened or condemned in recent years, according to the Institute for Justice, a Washington public interest law firm representing the New London homeowners. New London, a town of less than 26,000, once was a center of the whaling industry and later became a manufacturing hub. More recently the city has suffered the kind of economic woes afflicting urban areas across the country, with losses of residents and jobs. The New London neighborhood that will be swept away includes Victorian-era houses and small businesses that in some instances have been owned by several generations of families. Among the New London residents in the case is a couple in their 80s who have lived in the same home for more than 50 years. City officials envision a commercial development that would attract tourists to the Thames riverfront, complementing an adjoining Pfizer Corp. research center and a proposed Coast Guard museum. New London was backed in its appeal by the National League of Cities, which argued that a city's eminent domain power was critical to spurring urban renewal with development projects such Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Kansas City's Kansas Speedway. Under the ruling, residents still will be entitled to "just compensation" for their homes as provided under the Fifth Amendment. However, Kelo and the other homeowners had refused to move at any price, calling it an unjustified taking of their property. The case is Kelo et al v. City of New London, 04-108. Bikers

One of our TM bot a bike and thought it was awesome to go 110 around a corner, too bad he hit somthing in the road. Good news is he went straight into a field (less road rash), bad news is he broke EVERY rib on his right side, punctured a lung and broke clavical. He is at home now recovering but plans on being back working in a few more weeks. I think I'll stick to jumping out of planes. BTW - I have no problem with bikers as long as they drive responsibly. I don't like reckless drivers of any kind. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

  24. I'm sorry for your loss. If we can't execute these m-fer's then the prison in Cuba would be a good place. Our interregators can "practice" on these pieces of shit. If they die in custody, feed them to the fishes. They certainly don't deserve a proper burial.
