I never know since my son hasn't told me, and it came out of my account immediately. The bank keeps it, and they never bother to tell me that the check has never been presented. If I mail a check to the electric company, the funds are electronically transferred, after they receive the check in the mail. I don't use Billpay for my personal checks because my bank (and most other banks that I have used in my work) take the money immediately from my account. If the check is never presented, the payee does not have the benefit of the funds, and neither do I. The bank wins on that one. I only know of one bank that waits to take the funds out until the check is presented. I don't use that bank, so no thanks.
