    Latest on Tipping

Tipping an instructor is quite easy if proper stealth is used. Just give a packer, S&TA, or DZO a fiver and have them get down on their hands and knees behind the instructor of choice. (The hands and knees bit should come quite naturally for the packers and S&TA. You may have to work with the DZO a bit.) Then lightly push the instuctor in the chest area. They tip over quite easily as they have no balance on the ground. "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"

  6. What are the communities feelings on this ? I personally have no problem with a family or persons setting up a fund with a bank to be managed by someone responsible to defray medical expenses. Especially for those with extensive injuries that will probably result in a permanent disability. On the other hand, I do have a problem with people asking for donations to help with financial obligations, day to day expenses, and incidentals like room decor ?!?. WTF ? Really ? People say, "Oh, they're going to lose their house, car, boat, RV, or whatever. And their credit is going to be ruined. Everybody should pitch in and help them". My personal answer is tough shit, they shouldn't have been skydiving "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"

    Vented classic accuracy canopies ??

The next time you see him, could you find out why it is vented ? I'll probably have an answer from Eiff by then if not. Edit to add: After enough searching I was able to find a diagram with 2 small ports (As Eiff calls them) on the bottom skin. I still don't know what they're for though. http://eiff.com/manuals/ANATOMY.html "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"

    Zepplin Skydive

Whoever wrote that title on Youtube was probably trying to sound cool. For clarification and to keep it simple. A Zepplin is a rigid-framed airship with hydrogen filled baffles. Remember the Hindenberg. A blimp (That is what is in the video) in a non-rigid framed airship "filled" with helium. Hope you're recovering nicely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeppelin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blimp Go start the reactor Quade. Vented classic accuracy canopies ??

Note; This discussion is about ram-air style canopies not rounds. I've recently been informed by several people with many, many more years in parachuting sports that there are vented Classic accuracy canopies in existence. Yet, I've never seen one, I can't find information on them anywhere, nor pictures (I do have an inquiry into Eiff Aerodynamics right now though.) . The real reason I'm interested though is why would you need them on a classic accuracy canopy ? I know why they are on certain Base canopies. I couldn't find any pictures of an Eiff Classic alone. So below is a link to their site. The canopy on the front page doesn't appear to be vented. http://eiff.com/ Attached are a series of pictures. The 1st picture is of a Troll Base canopy. The white strip towards the nose is the inlets for the vent/valve system. The 2nd and 3rd pictures I'm told, are of Strato Clouds. Again no vents. Unless some were modified via scissors. Although if you check around the Base community I'm sure you will find out much about flare performance on early vented canopies lacking valves (covers) . 23. I have been misinformed by both Scott Miller and Brian Germain then. During both their courses we were told ZP is incapable of traditional sink characteristics because no air can flow through the fabric. Something along the lines, if I can remember correctly, that flying a ZP canopy on a deep braked approach while letting the toggles up occasionally for a "surge" was referred to as a "false sink". 25. Can someone with some background please explain the differences in the fabrics, their flight characteristics and what each type of fabric is or is not capable of ?? That way there will be a thread that is easy to find everytime this ZP vs. Lo-Po (F-111) arguement comes up. I personally have never been able to get a ZP canopy to do a traditional sink like a F-111 type canopy. Maybe that is due to low jump numbers. Although I've always thought it was because ZP is, well ZP. Maybe there is a new variable ZP I haven't heard of. I do know if you sink a F-111 type canopy all the way to the ground, you had better be ready to PLF. "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"
