  1. Hey Mouth- You totally misunderstood me if that was not a guy/gal comment, it was more of an insane overboard skydiver/current whuffo girlfriend statement. She is starting to give me grief all the time - I can't have a conversation without skydiving coming up, I can't ride in the car without mentioning the sky/clouds or wind, and I always want to watch skydiving videos ( just yesterday I asked if she would like to watch my last couple of jumps - her reply "I have seen them already". I actually hope, one day, to find a female skydiver who gets just as hyped up as I do. Where do you live Mouth? LOL -JB
  2. It would be a much better world if all the skydiv'n women were not already taken. I am on the verge of ending my relationship because of conflict with skydiving - I think about skydiving 24-7 and I like my life that way. So what if I am a bit overboard, it makes sense to me to take some like skydiving so very serious. -JB
  3. Okay, I don't think I am sick but my whuffo girlfriend thinks I have lost my mind. This morning she walks into my bathroom and I hear this loud "What the F@CK". Me, being a guy, I think oh SH@T no TP. So I jumped out of bed and go running to the door to tell her that there was more in the cabinet. All of the sudden the door opens. And I ask "whats wrong?" She points to the World Skydiving 4-Way Championship Draw, which I had taped to my bathroom mirror. Believe it or not she was actually pissed off at me (and skydiving I guess). Now the question - Is that a reason to get pissed? -JB
  4. Just got 15,000 this weekend because a commercial jet came cruising by.
  5. Okay, its not actually a mal but......... On my AFP3 jump I was under a full canopy pulling red zone turns and on the secong or third one I whipped the left toggle down. All of the sudden the canopy is turning and diving and I'm not. The center cell collapsed and the chute started to fold right down the center with line twists. Luckly as soon as this all started I lifted the toggle as far up as I could while riding my invisible bike. Just as quickly as it happened (well almost) it was gone. The funny thing is that during the whole thing I could hear my instructors voice, Nanette, saying "don't yank the toggle, pull them smoothly". Actually the whole thing was quite funny and scary at the same time.

  12. Diva Darling: I am so comfortable with my manhood that I can make these kinds of statements are not feel threatened. Plus I knew I would get a comment from you and that always makes my day just a little bit better. Thanks for not letting me down. By the way I only did two tandems but with different TMs. So I think we need to hear more about you and your three times same TM....hmmmmmm
  13. I must admit that during my WHUFFO years I was one of the fools running saying, "I want to learn static line, there is no way I want to have some guy plowing through me if the chute doesn't open." With that being said I did do my tandem and you have idea how happy I was to have Tony, my TM, strapped to my ass. I forgot what to do after I signaled 5500 - information overload. But now when I hear that WHUFFO crap I step right up and say, "Hey, I used to think the same thing but once you're there you be quite happy to have the experience abroad." We must forgive them for they know not what they miss.
  14. Rook from Skydive Chicago is jumping with Olav and Mike Swanson. GO USA!!!!

    Vanity Plate

I was able to reserve the vanity plate -> "SKYFREK". What do you guys/gals think? I can't decide. I was going to get "NO WHUFO" but only skydivers would get it , which might not be a bad thing.

  21. This was posted on rec.skydiving: "Geoff Peggs, Age 21, died in a skydiving accident on Friday, June 15th in Wichita, Kansas. Geoff was making his 5th or 6th jump with a Birdman suit when he exited the Cessna 182 from 11,000 feet. Witnesses on the ground observed deployment at an estimated 4,000 feet AGL. The main parachute started to spin immediately after deployment and continued until impact. The Coroner stated that the injuries sustained upon impact caused immediate death. Two USPA S&TA's, in cooperation with the Sedgwick County Sheriff and Coroners office conducted the investigation at the scene. The investigation showed that the right suspension lines were routed under Geoff's right arm and wrapped tightly around his right leg. The slider was wrapped around his right foot.. The canopy, a cobalt 150, was fully deployed but with this "horsehoe" malfunction the canopy started an unrecoverable spin. The cutaway handle was unaccessible because of the way the suspension lines pressed the birdman wing against his body, totally covering the cutaway handle. It is the consensus of the two S&TA's investigating this incident that even if Geoff could have cut away, the suspension lines were so severely wrapped around the arms, legs, and foot that it would not have made a difference in clearing the malfunction. The reserve was not deployed, but the reserved handle was dislodged, most likely as a result of impact. The S&TA's concur in their opinion that this incident was probably the result of deploying in an unstable body position. We have no way of knowing for sure if the Birdman suit was the only contributing factor, but since Geoff was a jumper with approx 300 jumps and no history of problems prior to this incident, Geoff's limited experience with the Birdman suit was most likely a factor in creating an unstable body position at deployment, resulting in a horsehoe malfunction. Unfortunately, because of the nature of this particular situation, Geoff was left with little or no options to correct the situation. Geoff was an INCREDIBLE guy. He seemed to fit in wherever he jumped and truly had a passion for skydiving. He was a student at Kansas State University and was planning an exciting career in aviation. He will be greatly missed by all of us. The funeral arrangments are being handled by Downing & Lahey Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas (316)682-4553. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20th. Please call the mortuary for the exact time. I think the best thing we can do to show our support for Geoff's family is to attend the funeral. The family knows how much skydiving meant to Geoff. We need to show them how much Geoff meant to us. God Speed Geoff! Phil Haase, Owner Air Capital Skydiving Center Wichita, Kansas (316)776-1700"
