  1. If you can't afford the AFF at regular intervals, I'd go with RAPS. At least then you can jump a few times a month and stay more current. How do I fall? PHUKINFAST !!!!
  2. Santa only tried skydiving once..... How do I fall? PHUKINFAST !!!!
  3. You've just named half of my housemate's video collection !!
  4. Cheers!! Think I got it. It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  5. How exactly does a collapsible pilot chute work? I know there's a line down the centre of it, but how does it 'know' when to collapse? It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  6. I've flown a skymaster a few times, and they're just about the same as normal student kit. ie. big and slow. They're quite a good canopy - they seem more stable and smoother than a lot of canopies in that class. It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  7. What is SCR # ? It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  8. I'm normally on big floaty canopies (usually 220's), so I just do my own thing as everyone is down well before me (the experienced guys at my dz all jump EXTremes etc). I've normally got the air to myself so I land how I like. It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  9. Does anybody know anything of predator mains? I know it's like a pd-170 but thats about it. Cheers !! It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  10. It's quite hard to explain. First you strip to your underwear and put on a plastic bag (yes, its very messy
  11. What's everyone's favourite drinking game? Mine's la-de-da. It's one of the few I've played where wearing a plastic bag is almost mandatory !!!
  12. I just watch the other canopies to see what they're doing and make a decision based on that It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  13. that sucks, man !! Hope they come out ok. It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  14. I managed to get a small turf-surf from a 288 manta (on a no wind day), and a little bit longer on a Fury. Both of the weren't exactly very long, but it's possible on just about ANY canopy. It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  15. I think you should take a look at this article on the Icarus web site - it expalins everything about collapsing the slider and loosening the chest strap. Icarus Maintenance It's bounce that hurts, so grab the grass !!
  16. There's already a post about pulling the slider down. Pulling the slider down won't really have much effect apart from decreasing the amount of drag (and stopping the flapping noise). If you loosen the chest strap, that will allow the risers to seperate a little bit more, allowing the canopy to flatten out (so it isn't as curved). This gives you more performance as the wing is more efficient. Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  17. Nobody has mentioned that great little thing called gravity, without which our sport wouldn't exist (and we'd all be floating around ) Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  18. Anybody here going to it? Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  19. Not really a good idea to let a spaceball go, then zoom off a few hundred meteres where you can't get it back. Might make a few people unhappy !! We're not even allowed to use 'em in the UK. Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  20. Yeah, L&B sell another 'strap' so you can mount the pro-track to your ankle where the airflow is cleanest. Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  21. SAS is the more accurate, but you have to make sure everyone you jump with is using the same setting, or you will have a lower speed reading than them, even if you're level all the way down. Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  22. I'll stick with Win 2000 Pro - It's the only MS product I've used so far that hasn't blue-screened !!
  23. I use TAS (true air speed) as it gives you your true speed through the air, whereas SAS (skydivers air speed) adjusts your speed reading to adjust for the thinner air / less drag at higher atitudes. The speed readings are relative to 4000 feet (average break off) at 7.08 degrees. SAS allows for accurate comparison of fall rates, but if you're going for speed use TAS. I think L&B say that a person in a fixed position falls at 62m/s at 10000', but only 50m/s at 3000'. SAS compensates for this. It's all in the back of manual (if you've lost it you can get it off the net). Throw me to the sky becuase I know I'm coming back - Red Hot Chili Peppers
