  1. WOW, unbelievable! I just logged on randomly and saw this terrible news. I had the pleasure of meeting and jumping with Jen and Chad at Dublin '07 (although maybe I actually met them before that, I really can't remember), where I too became a pelthead. I'll see if I can dig up my old pictures. This is terrible news. BSBD Peregrinerose. I enjoyed getting to know you a little bit, if only for a short while. Condolences to Chad, I can't imagine what you are going through. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  2. My heart goes out to everyone down at Emerald Coast. Even though I haven't been there in quite some time, ECSC was my original "home" DZ, it's where I got my A license and Jimmy was the key person in making that happen. I showed up at the DZ with 17 jumps under my belt and I hadn't jumped for 11 months. I had gotten kind of lost in the coach program at another DZ and then some time elapsed and I wasn't current anymore so I just didn't jump for quite a while. I went to Emerald Coast to decide if I wanted to get back into the sport and really become a skydiver or just give up on it. Well, the person I talked to about getting back in the air was Jimmy. He told me I would have to do a tandem since they were a tandem progression DZ. I balked. I mean, I had 17 jumps!!!!! I was already a jumper!!!!! I just wanted an AFF check/recurrency jump and get back in the air so I could make a decision! Well, Jimmy being who he is told me that I could go to another DZ that might do it my way, but he wanted to make sure I got back in the air safely. I didn't jump that day. I went home to think about it. Well, I showed back up a week later, did the tandem with Jimmy and got back in the air. And my life has been changed for the better ever since. Thank you Jimmy, for being a positive role model and mentor to so many. BSBD. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091

  4. Recognize quite a few in the 2nd pic (as BillyVance said, they are a lot of Farm regulars in there), but I can't for the life of me remember their DZ.com names!!!! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  5. I'm just wondering if the ILS & PAPI were actually turned off or just NOTAMed out. Hmmmmm. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  6. What a lame list (not the people on it, just the low number of people). There are over 100 people "attending" according to Facebook and we can only muster up 8 people here???? LAME! Guess FB killed dz.com. I would prefer the black t-shirt, white is not my color and gets dirty too quickly. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  7. I know a good rigger Billy. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  8. My husband is both a military rigger and a civilian rigger. They are 2 completely different qualifications. I will ask him if he wants to chime in here.... Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  9. I, being the Middle Earth nerd that I am, can't wait to see it. The only reason I haven't seen it yet is that we have a toddler at home and I haven't felt like paying a babysitter for 4 hours when we'll have free babysitters this weekend over Christmas break. So I'm planning to see it this weekend. My Dad read The Hobbit to my brother and I as a bedtime story many many times when we were children. I have always loved it. I read LOTR in college, several years befor the movies came out. And I still re-read it every few years. Probably time to break it out again. I LOVED the LOTR movies, I thought they were extermely well done. And I am very picky about movie adaptations, especially of books that I love. So of course I will see The Hobbit. That being said, I have NO IDEA how they can expand that 300 page children's story into 3 3ish hour movies. That certainly seems excessive. I told my husband (who has not read any of the books, AFAIK) that they will *have* to add a lot of filler. Did they add things from the Silmarillion or just stuff from LOTR appendices? 14. It's been so long since I've been on here, I've forgotten how to change my avatar. I'm a dumbass. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091

  16. It just didn't seem right not to have this posted here. The ash dive/memorial for Yardhippie will be held next Saturday, June 23rd, at Skydive the Farm. I hope to see many of you dz.commers there for some SHENANIGANS!!!!!!! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  17. I have not logged on here in forever, but have been thinking a lot about the good times I had with Hippie. Most of my good Hippie memories were away from the DZ believe it or not. Life in the ATL was never boring when you were friends with Yardhippie! I am proud to have call you my friend, even though we lost touch these past few years. you will always hold a special place in my heart.
  18. It is my understanding that they are also planning to release helium balloons with the words "For Ed" written on them at 7:30pm Friday and would like people to do the same wherever their location in the country in honor of his memory. I have jumped out of Ed's balloon at least half a dozen times and he was a fantastic pilot. Damien, I am terribly sorry for your loss. His last act was truly brave and selfless. BSBD Ed. I wish it had turned out differently. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  19. Awesome! Sorry you had to move from Belize, glad we got to go jump the Blue Hole when we had the chance. I'm sure the new location will be fabulous, good luck planning it!
  20. I had a mal similar to this when I had about 70 jumps. I was demoing a canopy from the manufacturer. The manufacturer's rep hooked up the canopy to my rig (it was already packed, in the bag). When I opened, one set of lines was twisted and the other wasn't. Like one side was a step through but the other wasn't. I could turn both directions, but when I went to flare I swung side to side like a pendulum. I let go of the toggles, did some practice flares on my rears and decided I could land it on the rears. Maybe not the best decision, maybe I should have chopped it, but I landed fine and PLFed with no injuries. Could another option in your situation have been to let go of the toggles (so they couldn't get stuck in the twists) and steer with your rear risers?? That might not have improved your situation any, or even made it worse, but it's just a thought. Regardless, I think it's a good idea to do practice flares and canopy control using rears up high.... 21. My husband and I met at a boogie, and although I've never thought about it before we *do* have similar fall rates! Although I love RW and he loves to freefly and wingsuit, so we actually don't jump together all that often. But when we do jump together we've never had a problem with fall rate! 22. I just wanna know if Mouth is finally going to hit 1000 jumps, maybe at this boogie??? Seems like she's been at 998 forever! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  23. The oldest boldest skydiver I've ever had the pleasure of jumping with is Bob Sinclair. I got to jump with him about 5 years ago, when I had less than 100 jumps.
  24. ABSOLUTELY!!!! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  25. I wanna know too....who are you??? Funnnnny! Give me your gear so I can go skydiving!! Okay....someone should be using it! Come and get it whenever you want. Just make sure you bring your puppy or our puppy will be very very upset. She sure knows who you are! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
