  2. Was just talking to SkyMama about this yesterday. I'm going to transfer the money on or around the 15th - After that, any donations made to the fund through my PayPal account I'll transfer once every three months. Will give a total as we get closer. :) -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  4. It was open to anyone - $1,600 was the entry fee. Obviously, I got it comped. That's some serious change. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  6. Hey gang... So I got invited by the publicist of the WSOP-A to come down to Atlantic City and take part in the 2-day academy. I accepted, took my dad, and down to Atlantic City we went. Long story short - I've never, never played poker before. Not even like a little bit. I've played on my phone - but that doesn't count. So the best part of the course, in my opnion, was a two hour lecture by Joe Navarro on how to detect tells and the like in people - total FBI stuff - SO cool. Limbic responses - fascinating. Truly fascinating. Then the tournament happened that night - I wound up surviving from 99 players down to 42 before I was eliminated. It felt SO awesome to get even that far - considering, honestly, I learned the basics that morning on my blackberry by Googling "how to play Poker." I know for sure I was the least experienced player there - At one point I was forced to go all-in by the 2006 WSOP winner - I had like 3,000 in chips left and he tried to steal the pot. Showing was an A, K, J, 4, 2 - and I had a 10 and a Q. He was shocked. It was an awesome, awesome experience - makes me want to know how to play more and to practice. Which begs the following question: Any advice on what downloadable versions to buy? Keep in mind, I don't want to play online or challenge anyone - yet... I just want a good Texas Hold 'Em game for my PC. Any recommendations? Also - Can you identify the people I'm with here? I've got no idea who they are. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

It'll be fun. Give me some idea of how many people are coming and who. Will be a blast. :) -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

    Two things...

I'm alive. I'm sober. I came home sober - was a fun evening, but no fears. Thank you to all who called, texted, emailed, showed up with backup, etc.

    Two things...

Is someone else going to explain to Peter what a silent auction is? OK smart-ass... I've seen people WAITING by the sign-sheet subtly, waiting for someone to bid, then they run and up it by $25.00... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Two things...

    1) Every once in a while, I find it fun to start a small nuclear war in my industry... http://tinyurl.com/2jqmwk 2) Can someone text or email me tonight around 9:30/10pm EST and remind me that at 5:30pm, a SOBER Peter Shankman said to his future self that even though you're drunk, and you're not as strong-willed as you may be when you're sober, there is NO WAY to justify whatEVER you're currently looking at bidding on for the silent auction at the charity function you're going to? No matter HOW much you THINK you want it, no matter how much you can say "BUT IT'S FOR A GOOD CAUSE," and CERTAINLY no matter how much you want it simply because some guy with a hot girl is trying to outbid you, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT. If someone could remind me of that around 10pm-ish EST, that'd be lovely. I'm going to the Fresh Air Fund's Fall fund-raiser/dinner thing... Open bar. They encourage you to drink, JUST for that reason. It's very, very dangerous. Check out the silent auction: http://www.freshair.org/images/events/fallbenefit/auction.pdf So yeah - if you save me, I'll buy you a jump or two. :) Happy Thursday night... -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 22. Just a brief update for those interested... We're just under $2,000 US Dollars raised for Tonto's adopted child. Nothing says we have to stop this on "X" day, you know. I can wire when we hit $2k, or $2k, and then wire again the next time we hit a milestone, or whatever we think is appropriate. That said, I'd also add that if you're not from the US and want to donate, your Euros and other currency, thanks to the horrific current slide of the US Dollar, is worth a lot more - For instance: 100 Euros equals $146.18 dollars - And since I'll wire in US funds, I believe we get more bang for our buck that way. Either way, big props to everyone who's donated, from big amounts to small, you're all good people. And those who've done other things, closing pins, prayers, even just a good thought - well, you're all good people too. :) Do we have a concensus on when I should make the wire? Andrea? Want to ask and get back to me? Happy Thursday, all. :) -Peter _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  23. When you're invited to speak in Raleigh, NC, make sure you book your flight to Raleigh, NC, and not, for whatever reason, Charlotte, NC. Today's public service announcement has been brought to you by the $400 I just spent to rebook my flight because I was too embarassed to tell the people who I'm speaking to who reimbursed me for my original flight (that's non-refundable) that I'm a dumbass. That is all. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
