I dont know the exact math, but i think its around 450-475ft which is really quite tall. Is the landing area quite far away that people are taking a 1/2 second? These kind of heights people are usually stowed and taking a healthy delay. Also I know when i jump something hand held in a cross wind, regardless of the direction i try to take a healthier delay so my vertical speed is greater than the cross wind. 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Clueless Why? in a skydive in a stable position whats the chance of a bridle coming past your head at terminal? Remember we are debating low jump skydiver with go pro , not base jumper. 1. Its probably a big canopy oddly enough if you don't know how to pack. So once you do the S folds get both knees on it to control it. Dont throw your weight down, use your toes to keep a healthy balance of pressure to control it and not explode it all over the floot. 2. Get your D bag and choose a corner (im going to use left for example) to wrap the bag around. Simple put the left side of the bag over the left part of the pack job, think rolling a condom (giggle) and once that corner is in lift your left knee, pull the bag as far down as it will go and drop your knee back down. You know have control of half the packjob and its in the bag 3. Get your right hand, grab all the folds on the right hand side and lift your right knee, the packjob wont go anywhere. Now use your free hand to reach over your right arm and grab the right grommot on the bottom of the bag, In one motion pull the grommet under and push the pack job in. I wouldn't take a BASE canopy to terminal, might blow up and kill you. One time, i went terminal and i had to land my canopy without a centre cell as it blew off. We have started "Mexican Monday's" at work in which we like to take our Latino friend out to do stupid shit and push him outside his comfort zone while he visits us for a few short months. So far Mexican Mondays have been a success with him making his first BASE jumps and we convinced him to jump our old rig we bought for 250 bones. forcefully push your slider down before you wrap the tail, make sure it is completely against the stops. When wrapping the tail don't treat it like its made of glass and do them pretty little folds, wrap the fuck out of the tail around the slider pulling down as you work your way down the tail. It locks the slider in place so it cant move when you lay it down. Then dont let it come loose when you do your S folds, keep tension on it at all times. Soft openings. Freepacking a BASE canopy into a skydiving rig doesn't teach you anything about BASE apart from how to canopy likes to fly. Heading performance has nothing to do with it. Just pro pack it over your shoulder like a regular skydiving main, stow the lines in the tail pocket and s fold it in there til it fits. I said i would quit BASE after that week, it was a lucid state of existance. In 3 days i've climbed to 600ft twice though to make a jump though... Just can't get enough. I think most people lose control of it during the S folds causing hard openings. I watch almost everyone do nice little folds in the tail when cocooning, once my slider is quartered i wrap the fuck out of the tail above the slider grommets and there is nothing good looking about it. Its tight and the reason is to control it during the S folds into the bag. On canopies known to open hard i always pull it out over the nose, on a velocity or similar i will leave the nose exposed in a semi circle and the slider flush with the nose in the middle. While i may not flake every pack job depending how busy i am i have 2 major concerns that i always make sure are correct. 1.) lines are straight 2.)
