  1. try beconase nasal spray, it will strengthen your eardrums for a start lol. Dont know how it will make your nose react but it might be good lol 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  2. I've been shaken twice now on my landings partly because i have problem with depth perception already (lost an eye in 2001) and my first landing i thought "wow im lucky." But i've naturally started 2 stage flaring and sliding on my arse which i can say is pretty embarrassing but at least i know not to wear white and my ankles are gona be fine.` Im also going to raise the question at my DZ just to be sure of "What is my reserve?" 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 3. Simply put, AFF is great Im on level 6 now and nothing compares, watch all the videos you want and it still wont help, your 1st jump will feel like nothing you have ever experienced. The best advice i can give is dont feel disheartened if you freeze on your 1st jump (i did). I pulled my own chute but it was a bit late, your brain can't except that you've just jumped. Get started and finish it 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  4. Im doing it at the North London Parachute Center and my first level was done with Gary Small, i felt really confident with the training he gave me. All my others have been with a real nice bloke called Mike who taken me up to level 6 now. Also i was trained with a ripcord sprung pilot chute and had to wait 3 or 4 weeks for the weather, then on the day of the jump they told me they had changed to throw away's which made me a bit nervous. At level 4 i was supposed to do a couple of 90 degree turns but ended up doing a 180 on my first try before Mike came in and got me steady again. Then i took it easy and managed a few 90's. That made me worry about level fives 360 turns but i nailed them. I stopped at 6000 because i was to lock on at 5500 and throw at 5000. Mike saw my grin and gave me my 3rd turn signal which i done before passing lock on altitude . Im having the best time of my life right now 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 5. Ok mate your gona have to fill me in lol. Hop n Pop????? Saw some poor git fail his AFF level 8 today, he was tossed out at 5000 and needed to get stable and pull within 7 seconds, took him 15'ish On the plus side im seeing a lot of people make mistakes and learning from them. 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 6. Completed levels 4 and 5 today so im having a beer with some mates and watching top gear Level 5 was really good, i completed two 360 turns and was cruising at 6000ft, i had a massive grin so my instructor gave another turn signal and i done another 360 before pulling at 5000. I just dont seem to move forward when i turn into wind though, im only 5'6 and 10 stone but i think i must be the best canopy pilot at the club, i've nailed every field around in only 5 jumps lol 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 7. Will do, i got a nice warning from my instructor the other day, "just when you think your skydiving is going really well, it has a nasty habbit of biting you in the arse so always practice your ep's." I want to skydive on a regular basis, im addicted after 3 and everyone keeps telling me it only gets better. When im under may canopy at 2000 feet im looking down thinking "damn, i wouldnt like to cut away at this hight in an emergancy." Does that worry ever go away? 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  8. I have been worrying about a pilot chute in tow, especially when on my first skydive i had slight line twists. My instructor has told me that i should roll gently side to side to create more air flow to my back, helping the main out. Now you gits have got me all worried! 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  9. Hello everyone, just need to vent some excitement. Finished AFF level 2 and 3 today On my first skydive my instructor wrote "fell asleep at 6000ft." I was determined to nail it and he said that it was one of the best level 3's he's done with a student so im chuffed to bits. *look my jumps counter says 3!!* 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 10. Well im rocking on with this sport called skydiving. Completed 2 AFF levels today and my instructor said it as possibly the best AFF level 3 hes done with a student. So im buzzing today :D. Also i tried sliding on my arse to land which worked really well, it was soft and i think that if i woulda ran with it i coulda made a sweet landing. Next time! 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  11. Well done mate, i still need to pay for the rest of my AFF levels Better get on the phone then if im gona get to jump again anytime soon 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  12. I just completed my AFF level 1 on the 10th and today im still remembering stuff. Your ground school will train it so hard into you that u can do it in ur sleep. My brain froze and i found my body doing all the motions without me thinking. Trust yourself, and if the ride gets too scary, your AFFI will pull it for you. 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  13. lmao, that advice is pure gold 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  14. Im really glad i found this post. I lost my eye back in 2001 when i was 17, i always thought i'd never skydive because of it but i just completed my AFF level 1 on the 10th of this month . Anyone wanna give me some tips on flaring? Nearly lost both my ankles *ouch* 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  15. I just done mine so i know exactly how your feeling. I could not stop the grin for the life of me. Unfortunately my chute opened a tad wrong, was facing the wrong way so i had a quick scrap with the risers to get untwisted "I'll buy you a beer when my chute opens" - me "if it opens" - rigger *evil grin* 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 16. I just done my AFF level 1 after never even doing a tandem, i couldnt believe the amount of work i had to put in but it was well worth it. Gotta work on my flare though p.s How do u shrink an image so i can put it on my profile? 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  17. Im going to do a search now and see if i can find any tips on flaring. I tried to keep looking ahead at an angle but made the mistake of looking at my feet. Also i suffered from an accident back in 2001 which cost me the loss of an eye so i had major problems with depth perception yarghhh! Another thing is im not going to use the altimeters that go around your fingers and settle on the back of your hand, i was struggling to see my altitude as it rotated to the left of my wrist. The instructor noticed and put his infront of my face. That ground comes up very quick 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  18. Hello all, just like to get some excitement out and say hello and i've just completed AFF level 1 . Now all im getting is stick off my mates because i can't describe to them wot its like to fall from a plane. Next time though im gona wait untill i can see a few ants before the flare, nearly lost both my ankles *ouch* 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  19. I want to get in the air as soon as possible (i dont have a passport yet) so i am going to do the AFF here in England, i jump on the weekend if the weather lets me :) Its expensive but i really want to get started stright away. The website is www.ukparachuting.co.uk 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  20. I think its just the build up, i know bungee isn't the same but i was 14 and had a blast. I think its time to stop dwelling on it and just let it happen I'll soon have a number by my name next to jumps 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 21. Thank you both for your info. Im not sure where you mean in Spain, i have been in contact with a bloke called Chris http://www.fallfromthesky.com/1188/index.html 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  22. Hello I've just got myself involved in AFF and will be heading to Spain soon, I've always wanted to jump and thought about a tandem but in the end i thought bugger it im going to get really involved. I know its a vague question but just how safe is AFF? Are the safety rules the same all over Europe or more relaxed in other places? Also i've noticed that a lot of accidents are caused in the landing which i'll obviously have to complete via radio instruction. Not that im bottling it or anything ;) *wipes sweat away* Andy Copland
