  1. wtf?!?!?! you sir, sound like you actually agree with what he did. and all of the things you keep spouting have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on anything in this thread. who the fuck cares why we are in iraq or afghanistan, the fact remains we ARE there, fighting, and the rules of war applies. i say again, he should be FUCKING SHOT for this treason he has committed. that used to be what we did with war criminals. that being said, i was in a special forces unit when we got called to go to afghanistan in 2002. i was in the same unit when we invaded iraq. i said it was stupid then, and i say it was stupid now. both wars were based on inaccuracies and lies and should never have happened. bush should be tried for war crimes, along with the heads of all major intelligence agencies of the time. and also, for the record, i don't think obama is much better, just the better choice at the time (lesser of two evils and shit). i can say that now, but it was illegal for me to say it then. i didn't like not being able to have an opinion, but i swore an oath, and i kept it. it's called honor, and from the posts you have been making, it looks to be in short supply in your immediate vicinity. i am personally very glad you have never served in our military. and you are welcome for the ability to spout such ignorant bullshit at any time you want, regardless of the facts behind it. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  2. have you ever been in the military? with that kind of attitude toward honor, integrity, and commitment, i seriously hope not. he took an oath, signed away a lot of rights and gave up a lot of freedoms. just like every other soldier/airmen/marine/sailor. he is held to the same standards. he is governed by the same rules. if the military did not have these rules, it would be impossible to uphold the kind of discipline it takes to go to combat. when i was in, i went to combat twice. the things i learned while in the army still serve me well to this day. fuck this piss ant, he needs to be shot _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  4. traitor. without a doubt. when you join the military, you give up some specific things. for example, you can't hold political office, you can't travel wherever you want whenever you want, and a lot of other things. one of which is providing classified documents to anyone without the proper security clearance. while i am not an expert, i am pretty sure wikileaks was not cleared to receive them. i feel he should be tried as a spy and shot. it was a crime committed in wartime, so it fits. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  5. "I'm a retired US Navy officer, have held security clearances during my entire time in the Navy, and now into my second career as an engineer for a defense contractor, and am one of the most law-abiding citizens in this country and yet something I did, or didn't do attracted this jack-boot fascist attention from our out-of-control government. I hope others like me can tell their story to show that Mr. Silverstein was not an "outlier data point". This is now the new-normal unless the public forces our representatives to do something about it." and this is the reason not to fuck with any and all personal freedoms. damn government is like a child, give 'em an inch, and they'll take a mile. it's all well and good, until they start messing with the ones you like. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  7. i was at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago for a birthday party and my buddy was really drunk. i put the candles on backwards before we lit them to see how long it would take to notice, when he did, it was flippin' hilarious. has some cursing, so may be nsfw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQNViMQJWaI _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  8. no, it shouldn't. from what i have seen over the course of the last 25-30 years or so, the only way to get a surplus is to raise taxes. of course, the taxes need to be brought to an even line on all. i am sick of paying up to 30% of my income in taxes when i could get by with a lot less than that if i had investments that would qualify as capital gains. simply from the article, and with no further research, it looks like it is working in ca. of course, it wouldn't work in the country as a whole, too much resistance. if we lived in some semblance of a democracy, instead of a plutocracy, then it would have a chance. or is it a republic we are supposed to have but don't? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  9. i actually learned how to pack after hours with lots of beer. we would pack it, pop it, and pack it again until i learned how to do it. of course, we would always pop it the last time. i'm a firm believer that if you can learn it drunk, it's a lot harder to forget. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  10. in that case, get acronis, or some other cloning software. do a complete reformat and reinstall everything. it will take a little while, but you should be able to get it done in a day or two. then clone it to an external, i use a small laptop hard drive from one that took a dump. i would recommend partitioning the hard drive with around 40-70 gb for the os, and the rest for data. and before you put any data back on it, clone it. this makes it easier to backup manually, if you choose. all you have to backup is the data drive, and you can just copy the whole drive to the other external, and even leave it running all night if you want, no touch. and if it ever happens again, all you have to do is clone it the other way. all computers need the os reinstalled sometimes, at least in windows, and even linux benefits from it. over time, the registry gets messed up and a clean install will take it back to like new. trust me, it is well worth the day or so you lose when the next time it happens, and it will, all you have to do is restore everything. acronis takes about 10 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the drive and the speed of the system. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  11. and a storm cellar can serve double duty as a root cellar, or even a safe room. it sure would suck getting sucked out of one though. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  12. with that much money, all you have to do is get a good tax lawyer to find out how to finagle the tax thing. i knew a guy once that won the lottery and ended up with some serious shit to avoid the bulk of the taxes. he told me what all he did once, but it could have been bs, i don't know. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  13. i will tell you that if everyone had the attitude you have in that last line, we would all be able to make a difference. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  14. no, it's actually not too far from the mark. knee jerk anything is usually a bad idea, except in some very isolated cases. like when you're hand is nearing a hot burner, etc. other than that, deliberation and exploring valid options is a much better way to deal with things. example: boston marathon bombings used a pressure cooker bomb, a saudi student gets harassed for carrying a pressure cooker full of food somewhere on campus. or: 9/11 attacks on wtc, invade afghanistan and iraq. or: ct school shootings, ban "assault weapons", even though it was not used but left in trunk. need more? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  15. the only real problem i have with this country/society is commercialism. i don't care that others disagree with me, in fact, i encourage it. sometimes i change my mind based on logical arguments. what i do have a problem with is the fact that we have become a society of whiners and complainers who would rather sue for their own stupidity than to take responsibility for their own actions. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  16. i would have to disagree with you on the it part of this. if you have a ccna, ccnp, and 5 -7 years of experience, you can write your own ticket in networking. and if you have a cissp, or are a qsa, asv, or psv licensed, you can command over 6 figures to start. and all that without any type of degree. of course, that requires real world experience, and it's a felony to get that experience without the proper authorization. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  17. it came from reading the article. and to the other posters who actuually answered the question, thank you. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  18. if that were the case, i am almost sure that would have been announced immediately. they would have put the spin on it. but otherwise, i agree with you, i hate things taken out of context. it seems that is all they do with these stupid sound bites people are spreading over the internet these days. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  19. i don't think i am familiar with the rules that say dealers are not allowed to sell directly to the public. can anyone enlighten me? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  20. the thing i hate the most is the "adjusted for inflation" bullshit. i can't compare costs from 1980 to now with that "adjustment". it's just another bunch of crap to make it look worse than it really is. first of all, the average of $22000 a year is just flat out wrong, i am going back to wv state university, the cost is $660 per class, and at 3 classes per quarter, and 4 quarters per year, this works out to $7980 per year. add books onto that and you'll come up a lot less than that. now, i am sure that there are more expensive schools out there, how else would you get averages. simple solution: go to a cheaper school. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  21. kind of crazy how the founding fathers foresaw a situation like this almost 200 years before it happened. and i for one am glad they did. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  22. best post in the whole thread. the best and most loyal dogs are rescued. they are forever grateful. breeders can get you a registered dog, but there's no guarantee of what the personality will be. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  23. shelter for sure. and for the record, if you go with a breeder, it's not snobby. but i would consider looking for a bull terrier rescue. and if you do go with a breeder, like has already been said, make sure it's not a puppy mill. good luck. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  24. now granted, i do not know how much it costs for a 500 gb dropbox account(you have to sign in for that), but i do know that a 500 gb portable hard drive costs under $100 for a decent one (i paid $90 for mine and it has lasted 3 years now). no internet connection required, you can take them anywhere, you can encrypt them, and you don't have to worry about anyone getting your files (as long as you don't lose it). i advise all of my customers to go this way, and recommend they get two (as you mentioned, they are all flawed) in case of failure. i know that a 6 ounce, 5" x 3" x 1/2" square is a lot to keep up with and takes up a lot of space, and it is quite the pain in the rear to do manual backups, so for the files you may need to access from elsewhere can be stored on a 32 gb flash drive for under $20 and fits on your keychain. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  25. after reading the text article, i would have to agree with the manager, mostly. if it truly was a couple of actors surrounding a guy in an ironman costume, with an off duty cop who talked to them, then the only thing done wrong here was the actors should have de-costumed before leaving. very misleading headline. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
