  5. The answer to that one depends on how much money the guy has! At the time I was done with AFF, I had enough saved for new gear. I got a racer with a spectre 170. I have 60 jumps, and am loving it! But I also know that if I didn't have the money, I would've got used gear, and without a doubt, I would still be loving it! Chivo
  6. I must admit I still use relativistic mass concepts, specially when working with particle traverse pattern predictions in a generated magnetic resonance field. Guess that makes me one of the 40% group.
  7. Does CPU speed affect the highest score you can get? I got >900 with a P4 1.7 GHz.
  8. Counter strike all the way. I played a lot when the company I worked for had to shut down. I also like quake 3 and unreal tournament. There are other interesting mods for half-life...anyone ever tried Opera?

  12. Don't know about y'all, but I really liked Jasmin's signature
  13. Many people handle this in many different ways. Some find comfort in religion, others find it in friends, others find activities or hobbies. If you have the time, volunteer your time for someone else's benefit. You'll be amazed on how much it will improve your situation. Oh, another thing... Jamba Juice! Try it. It'll make you feel better. Finally, I agree that attitude is very important... sometime ago I went through really difficult sh*t. Anyway, a good friend sent me this message. I hope it helps... --------------------------- Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say: When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life. "Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested. "Yes, it is," Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. Your bottom line: It's your choice how you live life." I reflected on what Michael said. Soon thereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident when I asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter, "Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live." "Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked. Michael continued, "...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action." "What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. "Yes, I replied." The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Gravity." Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.
  14. Never expect anything - you're looking to be dissapointed, just let it flow, and soon, you'll realize that people are around you for a reason, for a season, or for a lifetime. Just take enough time to find out which one. And enjoy each one for what they are in your life. I personally tend to misjudge them and place them into the wrong category. Later, Chivo
  15. I heard this several times while jumping in Waller, TX. And maybe (I'm not sure) in San Marcos, TX. I haven't heard it anywhere else... Is this something done everywhere? Or just TX? Can't help but imagine yelling that before exit and have everyone in the plane stare at me with this stupified look on their faces. L8r, Chivo

    Flag Jump!

We let it go. Neither of us had enough experience to try to deploy with it. It was just not worth taking the risk. Since I held it with my right hand, I let it go first. (Remember that you need your right hand to deploy your main.) If it was hard for my buddy to let go, he had his right hand free to deploy w/the flag, if necesary. We also had 2 hook knifes each. In case we couldn't let go, we would cut the handles off. And the second knife... in case we dropped the first one. We tried to find it later that day, without success. Maybe someone will take it to the DZ. I'm assuming that if someone close to a DZ finds a huge flag on their roof, they'll figure it out, and return it.

    Flag Jump!

Thanks to all for your replies & advice. We went through a lot trying to cover all the bases with this event. We talked to a lot of experienced skydivers at the local DZ, especially important, we found a few that had done this before. We finally decided to go through with it. So here's the result. Good planning --> good execution. Though there is still room for improvement. Enjoy the pics... I also have videos, but I still have to edit them... L8r, Chivo

    Flag Jump!

Hi all. I'm planning to do a flag jump with another friend this weekend. He has >150 jumps, I have >50. But before we go through this, I want to prepare myself to do it, as safely as possible. Or I will decide not to. Anyone done this before? Any suggestions? It will be 2 guys holding the flag and a third guy w/camera. The flag is a little smaller than 8 x 5 ft. We can either fly the flag vertical or horizontal. Any comments/help will be appreciated. Thx, Chivo
