  1. Here... let me fix that for you: You'd never see a democrat campaigning of family values, self riteousness, God, fidelity, non homosexuality, etc, etc, and then turn around and have an affair or have sex with another man and have to get divorced. There... that's better. Never say never.
  2. Just wondering. If a man, who can drive a nail through two boards, calls himself a carpenter, then, teaches the same, to someone else, does that really make the second person a carpenter, or the first? As? punctuated, that po'st! is quite incomprehen'sible( would you; care to write "it" again punctuated properly, I understand, what, he'is saying. Do you (need) some help Kallend? Probably,,, not because you'are just arguing for-the sake of, arguing. "It" take's one! to )know (one, i 'suppo'se~ This is how most arguments in government play out now a days. If you are proven wrong or caught cheating, said cheater tries to get the credibility of the person who is winning the argument below their own. No one has answered the "changing the data to fit the hypotheses" comment earlier in the thread yet. Instead I just read the thread slowly turn into a contest to see who can call who the bigger dumb-ass Kind of fun to watch really.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. While yes, it is their call, but how long was Obama in office when he was nominated? 2-3 weeks? It's more of a "Not Bush" award than anything else. Yes, they can give it to whom ever they want, but they have cheapened it to a lame political message rather than what it was originally designed to be, which is acknowledgement for doing something good for the human condition. I never thought the award would be used to bash someone. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 4. Hey look, I found a great web site where you can buy the decal for only $1.99!!! And if you click on the contact info they are home based out of Illinois Edited to remove hyperlink- I don't want to be kicked off the website for appearing to try to sell stuff "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 5. So can you explain to me how healthcare is a matter of National Security? One would think that this is one topic they would want out in the open, or is everyone happy just throwing all these wild ass accusations around about what is or isn't in the health care bill? 6. The AP put 11 people to work fact checking her Biography. They were bound to find something that they disagreed with. In this case it just looks like they found alternate sources for quotes. How many people fact check Obama's biography again? That's right. It doesn't matter because he is our great savior. He doesn't need truth or facts. 7. Having nearly walked the entire Afghan/Pakistan border looking for Bin Laden in 2003, I think I may know some of the challenges facing the guys over there right now. More troops also means being able to secure an area after its been cleared, giving aid and making friends in some of the villages, being able to resupply the troops when they need it, and having air support for the guys on the ground when called on. With the current numbers, they are just walking around waiting to get shot at. A great way to find the enemy, but not win anything. Unless there are some changes, we might as well just pull out. 8. Nice sarcasm. So, how would it hurt them? If you really have to ask that question then there is no reason to make the effort to answer but, In a war zone, would more man power or support increase or lower the deaths? Go from there my friend...... All thing being equal, more men = more deaths. The Idea of sending more people is to make things less equal. Why do you think cops call for back up? I feel that much more stuupid for having to state the obvious..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 9. YA!! But, Bush played fewer rounds (and got nailed for it more) and looked better longer. Maybe playing too much golf??? No such thing as too much golf, especially on the tax payers dime. Maybe he needs to take a break from vetting all his czars. From his quality, centrist, hard working and tax paying picks, he is obviously up all night stressing over it. 10. He should get out and play a few more rounds of golf. It's great for relieving stress. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

CHEER! This will be great. One small step closer to government run health care. Yeah, because they've done SUCH a great job with Medicaid/Medicare... *Edit to add sarc tag* Think of all the senior citizens who rely entirely on Medicare/Medicaid for their healthcare. Where do you think most of them would be without it? (Note that's "would" be, not "should") Bad coverage is still better than no coverage at all. Blues, Dave I'm sure that pulling half a trillion MORE out of it for Obamacare isn't going to help things any. So, does anyone think we will see more of the "Landrieu Syndrome" pass through anymore of the Senate Democrats? You know the symptoms, Senators not voting for the health care bill hoping to get a huge payout out of the deal, just like the Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu (D). Right now I am disgusted with congress. Landrieu got $300 Million. I wonder how much more will get shelled out to pass health care. Is the CBO taking into account these bribes for the total cost? Oh, You must be talking about the "Louisiana Purchase". They are buying votes now. Anything to make it happen. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/11/the-100-million-health-care-vote.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. For those of you who haven't been there, Seychelles is a big tourist destination in the Indian Ocean. It has some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the world that have been featured on many E! specials. There economy is mostly based off of tourism. The couple that were kidnaped from their sail boat were coming from there. The main reasons why UN nations don't want to arm ships is because of the legalities of transporting weapons on civilian ships in international ports. A few weenies are also crying about an arms race with the pirates. On the flip side, we can't just let them run around unchecked either. There violence effects countries like Seychelles. I think we have to arm the ships. If the juice is no longer worth the squeeze, then they will stop trying to steal sips. I may have to share some of my favorite beaches though "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 14. It's great that you think mass transit systems are pet projects. If you ever go to a country with a well developed mass transit system, you will see how much good it can do for heavily populated areas. When managed properly, they don't cost the tax payers anything. To me, a pet project (I guess I should call fraud, waste or abuse) has no chance of ever turning a buck, is completely useless, and lines someone's pocket. Honestly, for the hydrofoil to be profit neutral, how much do you think they would have to charge for tickets? How much do you think they would have to charge for tickets on a mid coast trolley? Which do you think would get used more? Does California have the money to sink into this novelty? It's all I'm saying. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 15. My bad, it was from Carlsbad to San Diego- http://www.takethewave.com/ I haven't lived in San Diego since 1999. They have made some changes and it's still running. My point was that the California budget is full of pet projects. Why did california spend the money on this rather than expand the trolley or train system? trolleys may have a higher initial start up cost than a hydrofoil, but a trolley can make more inland (more people can use it) stops and costs a hell of a lot less to operate. Someone pocketed some cash. the governator may try to stop it, but the liberal politicians got to get their back scratched. Every one likes to blame the governor (or president) but everyone forgets who writes and modifies the bills. Down with Polosi and Ried in 2010 "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  16. Obama didn't ruin California, but have we forgotten the type of Politics, namely Polosi's Politics, that the state is found on? The State needs to cut pet projects, plain and simple. Dig deep into the spending and you will see where it all went wrong. My Favorite is the millions spent on the hydrofoil that runs between San Diego and San Francisco designed to cut down on the traffic on I-5. In an effort to save money on the project it only runs at 10 am and 2 pm. What commuter would use that? How fuel efficient are boats again? Well thought out project. Last I heard someone grew a brain and killed it, finally. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 17. You are right, he hasn't hiked taxes yet. He will let Bush's tax breaks expire though and when the 'Cap and Tax' bill and Health care passes, well, we will all either be on welfare, or be giving our whole check to the system. 18. I did hear though that the place is controlled by Al Gore; up there, it's all solar. It has to be all Solar, He has to offset all the green house gasses created by his jet getting to and from the moon. Do you know how many carbon credits he spends on every trip? 19. You may be getting bogged a bit over semantics and definitions. It all depends upon individual context, but yes, under some circumstances, de-funding can be punitive. I suppose a rough example might be: Kid misbehaves, so parents punish him by withholding his allowance. I suppose, but to me an allowance has always been a privilege and not a right. I give my kids an allowance when they do good at there homework, do there chores, etc... When they do their assigned jobs, they get the money. When I can afford it and they do extra, I may fund a family outing. Do nothing, get nothing. When they misbehave, they get grounded (punishment). They are not entitled to an allowance, it is never automatic. My kids understand that. I guess this is why I am confused. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. I'm a little confused. To me something designed to punish would impose fines, revoke licenses, awarded prison sentences, or something of that nature. A punishment would involve imposing an act on the offending individual or group. Just defunding, or not actively supporting a group any more is a punishment? If I decided that I did not want to go out and actively be a part of a group for any reason I am punishing that group? Someone is going to have to clarify this for me. 21. Yeah sure............... Ben Bernanke I would also like to add that the data from the Youtube clip came from some where. Listen really closely and you can hear the reference at the end of the clip.... Cough... Hack..Obama's ..cough... own... hack... office.... Something in my throat... 23. We all know proliferation is bad. That was the politics that got the original ban. We now know that proliferation is not a threat from reprocessing nuclear waste in the US, so what is the hold up? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 24. Got the rest of the story from the Yucca Mountain web site http://www.yuccamountain.org/new.htm Another decision made on ideals, not reality. Just like Gitmo. On the flip side, I guess we better start recycling soon or we are screwed and will have to start shutting down reactors. Got to do something with the waste. 25. I think I missed something. Yucca mountain is no longer open? Where is all the waste going? All the LEU is sitting where? Are we burying nuclear waste in random holes now?
