  1. woups dod not mean that, just forget it, i misunderstood. I just hate reading here people bitching about wingsuit instructors
  2. isn't this out of topic and also feeding some I hate wingsuit instructor trolls out there? Just asking. IMHO It is way more interesting that nobody questions elliptical canopies being used at big ways. It is no guarantee that no problems like this will happen but it will improve things for sure. Yes I know about w/l as well..... bring it on elliptical people, and while you are at it pls defend your choice if you use that canopy type for big ways.
  3. In no particular order: Container could be Icon, Wings, Javelin, Vector, Mirage, almost any. Make sure to get the "wingsuit modifications"; like longer bridle, large zero-P pilotchute etc. Canopy could be Aerodyne Pilot, PD Sabre2 or Storm, Icarus Safire2. The gear above is the most commonly chosen, though there are few more alternatives of course.
  4. This was a WR event and you can probably imagine that break off procedure and safety for people was paramount during briefings. I bet it was as good as can be done. I read in the incident forum that there was an elliptical canopy being used by one of the jumpers involved in the incident. People attending an event such as this using an elliptical canopy is making a bad choice.
  5. The suit was zipped on to a normal rig - so it was not meant for BASE
  6. It was Niels Brusgaard, who came up with the idea, and a local Danish rigger from my DZ who created it for him. the suit looked more like a Skyflyer with bigger wings and the the integrated rig was integrated using zippers
  7. Hmmm guessing.... are you the Australian guy from the Cochstedt boogie who zoomed around us in a (at that time) gigantic Jii-Wings?
  8. Very well put Scott. I have been jumping for many years, since 2004 only Wingsuit. Initially, I expected that we would have to see a constant flow of incidents, like collisions, scary stuff and so on. That have clearly not been the case. Instead we ended up with good safety overall, mainly due to a educational program from Bird-man quite early on, and a culture of people seeking advice and instruction from experienced instructors and flyers. In France education continues on a regular basis past the FFC, learning flocking, then more advanced flocking as you "graduate". IMO Wingsuit do not lack behind other diciplins in safety nor education (well, if you seek it and get it from the true experts) and the instructor rating we have today from Bird-man, PF, FYB (and TS?) do the job nicely for the time being I think. I am neutral if it would be advantageous right now, to have a standardized instructor/coach rating programme. It reminds me of the early tandem (TI) days. We had to travel to the US to get educated/certified on the Vector Tandem system. Then Tandem became "normal" and more common on DZ's here in my country, and so now we have our own TI examiners and instructor/rating programs for Tandem. Maybe wingsuit will eventually go this route as well, depending on how widespread the dicipline gets. I believe so.
  9. I belive that no-grippers is *not* the only difference. Internal airpressure is way lower than Ghost3, makes it more nimble to handle. Jarno to comment...
  10. For its size, it is very nimble and easy to fly. Wing pressure is by design lower than one would expect as that makes it easier to fly acrobatic style. Fast and powerful. Easy easy pull. Hughes range for flocking. I love it. Thanks Jarno
  11. You will like this then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2SMBwNJL9A&feature=youtu.be
  12. Vector Festival tomorrow... After that I can comment on it
  13. Thats is going to be something as fiercely competitive, dangerous and exiting as the Pod-Racing scenes from Starwars Espisode I
  14. Shadow. It is nice to fly hands free, which the Shadow is made for. Other than that they are quite identical
  15. or end up like Gus Wing (search for "gus wing" on the forum) But it was fun to watch though...
  16. very nice :) Remember palms down in flight... ;)
  17. if you could leave out the last part of you username, you should be fine . The P2 should be a nice upgrade to your glide ratio, dunno much about the Tonysuit. Then there is also the S-Fly Verso which would be in the same class. Preferably go to a dealer with demo suits hanging, try it out...
  18. By accident I deleted the vid, where Tony standing on the ground demonstrates how to move ones arms to really provide the trust needed. I remember his light blue suit was dark blue in the armpit area. Anyone still got it? He did something like this: Tony instructions Seriously.. dreaming is what it is. Fundamental. Makes us laugh. Creates new ideas. New ideas sometimes do not materialize. Sometimes they do
  19. yes, but Patrick did it way better than you (you the engineer type of guy)
  20. I know, but that was not the point, the point was really just how weird it looked, even w/o wings :) And... you forgot the most important thing : to comment /get back on me - on the "we are lovers, not engineers" Maybe Zun would like to have that as his signature? Merry Christmas Pat, from us tree.
  21. sorry for the thread drift, but it is simply too funny, the comments on the french design: "After it crashed, Lebouge, facing a firing squad, said defiantly, "We are lovers, not engineers!"" http://discaircraft.greyfalcon.us/Major%20Howdy%20Bixby.htm
