  1. That's cool. Here's my 14 year old son last year (I'm the TM). ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!
  2. I always get asked, "Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?". BB ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!
  3. The line just before "morally reprehensible" was "but that would be impossible..." Bill Bennett is an arrogant racist. ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!
  4. Been blaying guitar for 42 years. Was in a band full time in the 70's (actually stopped jumping then, cause I couldn't be traveling to gigs and jumping too). Most recently, I played banjo in a bluegrass band (about four years). Now I play a little fiddle, too. Our dropzone got me back jumping again after a 20 year layoff through playing music. We had a "jump and jam" each weekend the plane was in town (once a month here in the boonies). Now, I'm jumping so much I don't have time for playing in a band. 8. Unlike most critics of proposals to cut back on the welfare state, I live in "that part of the country". While I, too, disagree with Pat Buchanan most of the time, he has it right (as did FDR before him) in this case. Remember, in order for a subset of our society to exist in a welfare-dependent state, there must exist a large infrastructure to distribute welfare money and services. So, there now exists concentrations of people like those we all saw in New Orleans, but only in certain areas. If you live in a part of the country where there are few welfare dependents, I can understand your holding onto some idealistic beliefs - I did myself when I lived in other parts of the country. But when you see it every day and up close, you begin to realize that our current welfare system incents people to become as they have in places like New Orleans. 9. I think most bosses have an image of a "leader" - at the corporation I used to work for they called it a "perfect 42 long", meaning a guy who was a perfect fit in a 42 long suit. Many of these guys (yes, sex discrimination still exists) were nitwits but were often promoted past their more competent co-workers who were left behind to do most of the real work. It was my experience that a lot of these "turks" were from wealthy families who had connections with top corporate muckity-mucks and they were "annointed" from the beginning to leap-frog over the masses. Two suggestions - either become a"42-long" yourself, learning to play the political game, or enjoy your pay and benefits and take ALL your vacation and other legitimate days off. Then go skydiving. 12. There is enough blame to go around, but we created the society we have long before Katrina hit New Orleans. Unfortunately, reversing welfare dependency requires action that gets people booted from office. B. ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!

  14. Harry Connick, Jr. asked an interesting question today, how is it he can make his way to NO and our leaders can't simply get potable water to the Superdome? When you pack a population into these conditions the result will be anarchy, no matter who they are. ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!

  17. No! It was my fault. I mistakenly mocked a gang sign a month ago and this is what happens! Either that or the Dutch for teaching the world that folks can live below sea level. ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!

  19. Well, I have been, last year and this. Maybe you ought to go before prejudging how safe the jumpers are. I was thinking of going to a different boogie next year because of my limited "boogie funds", and limited time off work. But, after my experience this year (despite the rain and fewer jumps than I had planned), I think I'll go again, but start earlier in the week and stay longer. This is the boogie the world goes to. ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!

  24. I agree with your feelings toward "tandem factories" when they are small, Cessna DZ's. I think tandems are great for the big centers where the tandem passengers and their instructors are no bother to the rest of the jumpers and their revenue makes some of the cool shit possible these days. But at the small DZ, they are a pain and really don't bring very many new jumpers into the sport. I am a tandem instructor at a small DZ, but I refuse to allow tandems to overrun our DZ. . ....with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that spells TROUBLE!!!
