  1. Well dammit Billy, if you would ever come back to WTS and bring a couple Lightnings with you you could teach me something! Seriously, I am gonna try and get down to Culman later this year if I can come up with the money and if you would be willing to do some CRW jumps with me. You probably dont remember me but we met when I was just off AFF at one of the Halloween boogies at WTS. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  2. Just to give you a perspective on WHY you should have chopped that canopy - First jump so I am assuming it was a 230ish or larger canopy you were flying, a nice big docile student canopy. If I had tried to land that same malfunction on my Safire 189 loaded at 1.3 I am almost certain it would have been AT LEAST a broken leg, probably a badly broken one. On a higher loaded or smaller wing that same malfunction could result in a trip to the morgue. Never be afraid to use your reserve! That's why you have one. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  3. Rachael Ray didnt put her legs up like instructed (I assume she was instructed). It appeared to me that this guy just didnt flare at all (okay he went to 1/4 brakes but then he held it to impact...or so it seems). As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  4. Sometimes it just happens. I have personally seen in the last 4 months the bridle in a perfect halfhitch around the PC. Sometimes when you throw the PC and bridle out into 120 MPH airstream crazy things happen. The result was a cutaway and reserve deployment from a PC in tow.. 5. One has a lot of experience (a lot being relative, maybe a few hundred CRW jumps), the rest of us (all 3 LOL) are learning. There are Tris and Spectres around my DZ but none I know of that I would not be loading at 1.5 or higher... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  6. thanks. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  7. I wish.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  8. Guess you are just living up to your DZ.com name instead of being helpful . I WISH I had video as a Safire 189 and a Nitron 135 fly remarkably well together in a stack (I docked on the Nitron if that matters). I am well aware that I am not using the best (or safest) tool for the task. I wish I had unlimited $$$ or some sugardaddy would hook me up, but thats just unrealistic. Anyone ELSE have anything constructive to offer? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  9. Please dont flame me for this question but - what CRW formations can be done relatively safely with 9 cell microlined canopies? CRW is rarely done at my dropzone so I jump at any chance to learn it. Unfortunately that means using what is available, which are not CRW canopies (there are only about 3 other jumpers willing to do any CRW with me). Travel is out of the question as I am doing good to get 4 jumps a month right now due to financial considerations. One friend of mine is in the process of setting up a couple of CRW canopies (OLD canopies, a Fury 220 and an Interceptor 200 I believe) but has hit a snag as he needs to find a spider/PC setup for the Interceptor. SO - are there any formations we can do "safely" other than stacks with our 9 cell canopies? I know off center docks are out, but what about trying some side by sides? The canopies we are using are a Safire, a Sabre1, a Sabre2 and a Nitron all loaded about 1.3. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  10. Each canopy family (Safire, Sabre, Crossfire etc) has definite characteristics that tend to be true (like stereotypes I suppose). Each individual canopy within that family can have very individual characteristics that must be addressed individually. SO, each canopy is unique to a degree...and yeah, make damn sure your slider is packed UP and OPEN!!! As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  11. Not sure about the Safire2 but rolling the nose on my Safire 189 almost caused me to have a couple of cutaways. Definitely the worst openings I have had on any canopy. Once I stopped rolling the nose the opening were like butter and almost always on heading... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  12. Another option is to get slider stops and simply collapse the slider and not worry about pulling it down. I have done both and personally I prefer to simply collapse it and let it sit at the top of the stops - its less time consuming and for me much less of a hassle. Edit to add that I seriously doubt any parachute would gain significant speed from the slider simply being stowed. More than likely that increase in sink and speed you noticed was the result of you releasing the brakes and going into full flight. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  13. Thanks for the link. I watched the landing several times and I really dont get what the instructor was doing - it doesnt look like a mistimed flare at all, it looks like he flared to about 1/4 brakes and held it til they biffed in. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  14. Ask your instructors, but once you have 100 jumps or so it wont matter what "angle" you jump out at, you should be used enough to freefall that you will subconsciously adjust your body position so that you are stable regardless (on solos - group exits depend on everyone to do their job and exit correctly). 15. Contact Mike Mullins at West Tennessee Skydiving. 16 shouldnt be an issue there with parental consent, and they have excellent USPA rated instructors and are very safety conscious - plus their Super King Air is the fastest jump ship in the country
  16. Anyone have a link to the Shania Twain tandem video?? Looked all on line and have yet to find it... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  17. I thought a larger slider had tamed my Sabre1 until it opened so hard it broke 9 lines on the left side. That was my second jump on my reserve and my last jump on a Sabre1 As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  18. 1800' and of course I had a spinning malfunction - under reserve at about 1300'. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  19. IMO night jumps are some of the most fun jumps you can do. I wish they were done much more frequently... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  21. If you cant find a PC setup for it we can paper bag it - I have been wanting to do a paper bag jump anyways. It would be really cool if we could get some video as well. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  24. "Today, America would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown.
