  1. I always drive fast, i'm lucky I got out of the last few speeding tickets. Up here in canada, the highways are max. 100km, I constantly drive at 150km which is the fastest my truck will go, otherwise i'd probably go faster. My personal opinion is that the majority of skydivers like driving fast but then again so do many whuffo's. ***Free bird Forever
  2. As a new jumper, I try to follow the 'first person down' rule as much as possible. I mean I won't make a last minute change to follow this rule. I understand what you mean though. The first person down can make mistakes as much as anyone else. About a month ago we did a jump and the first person down landing down wind, and yes we all followed. I think jumpers should use this rule lightly and not forget that your landing is your own responsibility. Just a thought. ***Free bird Forever
  3. Sorry to hear that. I guess I was pretty lucky, cause the first jump I made that weekend was an unintentional downwind landing, and I was trying to run faster than my canopy would go. It was probably a good thing that I didn't finish it and fell. ***Free bird Forever
  4. I'm getting one put on my rig very soon. I don't think I really need it, i've been sitflying without one, but better safe then sorry I guess. ***Free bird Forever
  5. Your response of not having to run. I'm a little confused. Last weekend the winds were really low, and it's not like I was the only one running out my landings. Pretty much every one was. I can understand that you can probably minimize the run by flaring longer but i'm shure in some situations it's unavoidable, right? Even for experienced jumpers. ***Free bird Forever
  6. OUCH!!! That looks like it hurts alot. So I guess it's best to avoid running landings. Thats too bad cause they were fun. ***Free bird Forever
  7. Thats good advice. Thanx. I see alot of experienced jumpers at my drop zone lifting their legs as they are comming in for a landing. I just havn't mastered landing yet, but it's getting better. Free bird Forever
  8. Last weekend I jumped alot. There was hardly any wind, so most of my landings I had run out. The first one was downwind, I mean the whole load landed down wind because the first person to land did, honest mistake. Now 4 of my jumps were running landings. I was able to run it out, but couldn't stay up by the end and ended up falling. My last one I did, I stayed up, it was a great feeling. This was the first weekend I ever had to run with my canopy, to tell you all the truth, I liked it better, and just wanted to share. ***Free bird Forever
  9. I am still somewhat of a new skydiver, but I just wanted to add that I always roll the nose on my sabre 135, and so far the openings are pretty nice. ***Free bird Forever

Do you mean quit freeflying altogether? I was just thinking, do you think it would be a good idea to fing a helicopter in my area, to practice stable exits? ***Free bird Forever

I started skydiving because I was told if I wanted to base jump that it would be a good idea to get a couple hundred jumps first. Now that I have my solo and i'm working on my A, i'm not doing as much belly flying anymore. I'm experimenting with freeflying, don't get me wrong - I love it. What i'm wondering is if it's going to affect my base intent. Do you think I should do alot of belly flying or does it matter? ***Free bird Forever
  14. I see that alot of you have a pic. of some kind in your profile. How do you set that up? ***Free bird Forever
  15. I agree, they were definitely better together as Pink Floyd. Refferring back to my favorite quote "Together we stand, Devided we fall" ***Free bird Forever

  17. I have 32 jumps and i'm just starting to freefly now. I don't see why your being told to wait, expecially for 900 jumps. Now is the time - have fun. ***Free bird Forever
  18. My chute is a sabre 135, with 9 cells, 0 perosity. From the responses to this forum and the mojority of responses from the drop zone. I guess the best way to land my parrachute in high winds is to stage my flarring but not to flare all the way. Is that right for the most part? I mean I know that it's never going to be the same, but I was getting clashing answers about this, so I just want to get a better understanding. ***Free bird Forever
  19. The other day, I didn't land so good. It was a high wind day, I slipped from under my feet and came down hard on my ass. I felt it in my stomach. Some were telling me I flared to early, some said too late. Now i'm confused. I'm not shure how I should be changing my landing according to a high wind day. I did a second jump that day, the winds were still high. My landing was good because I staged the flare. I guess what i'm wondering is if there's really a difference in your flare according to the ground winds. How do you change your landing. ***Free bird Forever
  20. I had a simular problem when I started freefalling. I was able to breath, but when I landed I was so out of breath. I was told that it's a form of anxiety. Now that i'm used to it, it doesn't happen no more. Also the other day, I went through a cloud for the first time. It seemed like forever, but while I was going through it, it felt like I couldn't take a breath. Some divers at the dropzone said it was all in my head. I guess it's just another thing I have to get used to. ***Free bird Forever
  21. I completly agree with mat. Don't get me wrong, skydiving is a big part of my life. I try to jump every weekend, but there's lots more stuff to experience out there. I don't want to miss out on anything. I love skydiving but keep an open mind, mix it up a little. ***Free bird Forever
  22. Congrats on your first jump. I also started on S/L and the day of my first jump course I didn't even get to jump. I had to wait til the next weekend because of the wheather. S/L is a good way to learn. I finished my training with IAD, which I think is another good way to learn. It gives you the skill of parrachuting and landing before you start freefalling. Hope you enjoy the sport as much as I do. ***Free bird Forever
  23. Shure, you're addicted. We all are, but you shouldn't look at it as a bad thing. I mean, what else would have spent your money on. Skydiving makes me happy, I think thats a really important part of life=being happy. I'm now solo certified, and i'm jumping my own gear. Shure the jumps are cheaper, but it just means i'm going to jump more. Just remember, it should be more important to you to be happy rather than rich. ***[Blue]Free bird Forever[/Blue]
  24. That was his first jump course. That sounds pretty exciting. I better hurry up with getting my +100 jumps. It's already been too long of a wait. Free bird Forever
  25. I just wanted to let everyone know that I jumped my new rig this weekend. This Sabre 135 I think is going to be a great starter rig for me. I had a problem deploying the pilot chute the first time. It was stuck in there. I've been told that many women have problems with this. I was dumping early so that I could practice under canopy, so I had some time. I had to use all my force. Now i'm packing my pilot chute like a base rig, like a mushroom. It came out great on the second jump. My parents came to watch me for the first time, and I landing great, right in front of them. Thanks everyone, for all your help preparing me on my new rig. I'm rolling the nose, my openings are pretty good. I still havn't added a flap on the slider but my slider needs some adjustments anyways, it doesn't stay callapsed, so i'll probably get that done at the same time. Free bird Forever
