  1. Np, don't have my unit with me either but information about this was lurking somewhere back in the brain. So I brushed up memory by visiting the FM at http://www.l-and-b.dk/manuals/viso_engmanual.pdf and you set the mph/km/h directly after chosing between feet and meters. It however stores the speedreading in both formats so you lazy yanks can still get the mph reading without doing som serious calculations L&B, second best thing coming out of Denmark. First thing being carlsberg's. Hang on, make that the third best thing, there is tuborg's aswell. chris
  2. Don't know what the 4.5K at 12 problem is, but the speedreading definetely looks like you got it set for km/h as the numbers you get from the altitrack in mph corresponds to a correctish km/h reading you have on the VISO. You can still have it set in feet and get a km/h reading as it is a different parameter and setting. chris
  3. Oh My God. You can clearly see the jumper going upwards in those sequences! I have been lying to my whuffo friends all these years... Nice work CornishChris. chris
  4. Ow ma gawd... Bluefingers, those translations was absolutely hilarious...we have to make more of them Nar, you havent said anything wrong....well maybe if i translate it back to swedish using those DICKtionaries it will be wrong...ill give it a try if i have the time later...LOL It's forbidden to BASE jump from the troll wall, but this is not BASE, it's just a regular helo jump in an unusual place....argh..cant wait. And on the good side is that im getting the phuk out of Yemen and going home to Sweden in ummm about 6 hours.....yippie chris
  5. Hmmm....the "satani rippola ilma" is supposed, do I dare to say it", mean "bloody diarrhea weather"....or so I was told....well, you always get stitched up when you try to learn new frases in different languages. Yeah, the "beaver boogie" might be clouded/rained away, but beer is always a reason to travel anywhere...and too cold...for jumping...nar, never. Anyway, real reason for going is that some freinds of mine did that Troll wall jump last year..it just looks amazing when you see them them track beside it, and the damn thing is so huge that it looks like it hardly moves...think it is 2000m high, around 1000 of that is just sheer wall...wonder if its the biggest wall in the world...and it's not yank, LOL....well, just gotta do that, just gotta... och BLUEFINGERS verkar vara trevlig, hoppas hon ser det hær, kommer antagligen bli vældigt smickrad... chris
  6. Hey Erno You clearly got way to much time on your hands while at work...where can i get me one of them works..woops, sorry, got one myself Nice graph btw, and hell yeah, they are more of 'em around and they certainly are louder....but, they're fun in a rickyspringer kinda way Och så chansar på att du kan svenska? And does this mean what i have been taught? "satani rippola ilma!" Cuz i always say it at the the dz when the gods dont smile at us cant belive that no one wanna join me at the "beaver boogie" cheers chris
  7. Hi all. The Beaver Boogie (no, I don't know why it's called that ) is due this year 25-27 Oct. in Bjorli in Norway. Helicopter jumps by the famous Troll Wall, Gothenburg is bringing their Skyvan, and lots of general partying i presume. I don't have anymore details than that, but who cares, I'm going anyway. Anyone interested in joining me on the way up there are all welcome to contact me, guess there arent THAT many scandinavians here in these yank infested forums , but it's worth a shot. I'm leaving from Ørebro sometime before everythings kick off. Hope to see you there by the WALL chris
  8. yeah, morning to you too. Im sorry to hear about the bomb you guys had in finland, it's just a shame and even worse that lot's of kids was involved. My weekend was spent outside Yemen due to the french oil tanker being blown up last week, so now im stuck in the middle between Yemen and Somalia in what is considered "safe" waters...im going home soon as the boat that going to take me off is coming... And back home in Sweden we mourn a loss of a BASE jumper. He was one of Sweden's most experienced BASE jumper, he died died in Lauterbrunnen during a wing suit jump. Have no further details Blå skyar..... chris
  9. Solve the problem! I fly still camera top mount, and use a hendheld shutter release connected with a cable. This setup concerned me that if i had to cut away my helmet i would still be attached to it with the remote running inside my jumpsuit. Even though cable is very thin and would probably snap, or that connection to the camera isnt _that_ secure, I installed a small A/V connection (think that what it was, just a stereoheadphones connection, 3 pin) and had the joint at my neck. If i cut away my helmet, that connection will disconnect and only thing camera related connected to me is 2" of wire with a small pin to it. Sticking out no more than slider stow velcro from the jumpsuit. Is it possible to install some kind of connection that enables the camera lens to be disconnected with just a slight amount of force from the wire running to the camcorder? I'm no techno geezer knowing lots of stuff about digital or analogue signals and connections, but surely there must be some solution that can be applied And Counting that the wire will snap if it snags is NO safe assumption...wires very thin can take very much weight before they snap. There isnt that much drag in a canopy when its streaming, and it will stream if it snags. safe swoops and clean cam cutaways. chris
  10. Stirred conversation it is then :P Guess i coma across as a old fart, but we in sweden are not as new gear crazy as the yanks, so that why im jumping older stuff. Raider, yeah, fina canopy that...nar..not that big but it was available and cheap so i got...bets landing with it..hmmm...gotta be the around my jump 80 or so....i had NEVER buttslided or crashed a landing before this one, not even as a student, but as with all things, they gotta happen. Well this was in front of a TV crew doing a feature on our DZ, and whose landing did they show on prime time....MOI! BT-60...british yeah right...french top stuff that. If i am correct first elliptical canopuy on the market, helluva turns with that one, but no frontriser turns at all (some say that is dangerous)....bets landing with that...winter day, air so thick you could cut it with a knife, me overshooting waaay to much, and to miss our manifest shed i landed in a flat braked flared turn....not fun but boy did i learn lots Yep, three chamber endcells.....it was shock pink to...it STILL is as i still got it.... gotta go, lunch, cheers chris
  11. Hey Zenister... Im into AvP2 primal hunt lots.....well not really now since im stuck in Yemen, but as soon as i get home i will be. Usually set up my own server, game called "nocheapkills" and im always on there...other wise i go under name "phast"... see ya later chris
  12. Really? I've heard that the absolutly best surface to pack on is grass, but maybe european grass is different to yank grass (assuming its ONLY grass you'e packing on) Try this thest. Make a buttslide on the grass and then make one on the mat you pack on. Or only light and smoke it AFTER you packed your chute on it chris
  13. Haha, dont know if that old timer remark was aimed at me or not, but since it was in response to my post, I'll bite Still have the Firelite in my second rig that i never use, but as a reserve and have never used it....only jumped one 80's canopy, and that was my first but old and trusty 8-900 jump Raider 220 that still had flare in it and slammed me on openings all the time. Still have that one too Fave old canopy gotta be my old sweet PdF BT-60....still have that in a bag at home, only got 230 jumps that one....from -91 and its in such a good condition anybody intrested in bying it LOL??? chris
  14. I had a bungee to my PC for my first 300 jumps, only problems I encountered during those jumps was that the knot that held the bungee cord came lose once and made my PC act like a non-collapsible PC. If you have the bungee fixed with a knot that can be moved around, you can set the speed which the PC should inflate. Obviously starting in the softest setting you can tighten it harder and harder until it wont inflate during your hardest front riser turns. I did this and had no problems doing hop 'n pops from 700 m after that, experiencing no x-tra delay other than the normal delay you get from sub terminal jumps. Exit speed is normally for me (C-206 DZ) around 80 kn, far above what i could achieve with my canopies at that time. Canopies were Raider 220, BT-60 and Jonathan 170. As long as you dont tight it too hard or jump ultra performance canopies no problem should be encountered other than mentioned. If you do forget to cock the killine PC, thats a reserve ride, if you forget to check that your bungee is still there, or if it snaps, you simply wont gain the extra performance that a collapsible PC gives. I jump i killine now simply cause the gear that i bought had it, and that i moving up in the performance envelope so i should get used to it chris
  15. Firelite's sure is being used as mains.... Maybe not the BEST main, but it sure is cheap nowadays. chris
  16. I use standard settings, havent change anything but the usual mountain, sunset, action options...use the action for faster shutter speed. Havent played around with any other settings including autofocus, and pics come out nice...more my cam skills that makes the pics suffer Can always play around later with saturation and all that other stuff in the cam program that comes with the camera. I use the hand release that you can buy with the cam, big shame the only lengts is 0,5 m and 5m. So i got the 5 m shortened to a bit more arms length and installed a A/V connection (i think) at my neck so if i have to cut the helmet away no problem with the wire running inside my jumpsuit. Prolly forgot tons of stuff, just emaol me if any q's cheers chris
  17. I use the Dimage 7i. I like the results i get from it although you cant take to "big" pictures cause the writing speed is too long. But that is the really big ones. Im still playing around with different settings and stuff, but if you want more info or samples, mail me and i mail you back

    Birds

Yep. seen falcons hunt...they swoop put of the sky, poor little birdie never knew what happened Seriosly, just rememberd that birdies have poor sense of hearing but very good vision, ie flashing your headlights instead of sounding your horn have better effect of scaring birds away. Havent happened yet, hope it never will cuz it WILL be a mess, and im not talking about the bird. chris

    Birds

Yup, they will hear you, but will that make them move? Bikes doing high speed makes this sound that very much resembles someone in freefall, like slow thunder rolling in, and bikers (and cars) constantly hit birds. Granted, there are LOTS more vehicles than skydivers and far less birds up there than down here, but assuming birds will take the correct evasive manouvers i find somewhat unlikely. Doubt skydivers have been around long enough for birds to develop a "skydiver evasive action" gene.... haha, if they cant dodge something coming a lots slower than terminal from the side, how can the dodge skydivers at terminal from above... chris

    Birds

Seen seagulls several times above 1000m at my dz...highest around 1300m, so i guess it could happen, never heard of it though. Its quite scary seeing them that high, and they are big nasty stupid ugly disgusting birds (never liked them..at all), so i guess taking one of 'em in freefall would hurt..lot's. That visor pic gotta be a montage. Several freinds of mine have clipped birds while bikeriding, and there is nothing left of them except the usual gore and blood on the leathers. Bruised for several weeks they have been after hitting something like that, and thats with bikeleathers....imagine thin jumpsuit instead....not pretty... chris
  21. Had a BT-60 before, openings are very fast and brisk, never slammed me though. I liked it lots at the time I had it, turns were very crisp. Friend of mine borrowed it and said it was faster in the turns than her sabre 135, go figure. Doesn't fly well with front risers at all, some say it is even dangerous, so thats why i got a Jonathan 170 instead which was slower in the toggle turns. Very flat glide, if you don't make it home, no one else is. Some ppl at my dz jumps the 50, it shows all the same characteristics as my 60 did. Wouldn't recommend the BT for camera jumps. chris
  22. You should be able to turn it off with the 4 button push, but being faster and more like anticipating the flash before seeing it should do the trick. I have the habit of turning my off, battery life doesnt concern me, it says that batteries will last for 500 jumps or 2 years and should be replaced after that. What i dont like is having the cypres on when i close the doors on my car. Rapid pressure increase and decrease inside car can fool it that it is somewhere else than in your boot and fire. Never heard of it happening cypres, but to FXC's, but i dont want to be the first Another reason is cypres shut itself down after 14 hours, no matter what....so if you just do some sunsets as your firsts of the day, your cypres will still be on in the morning after but turn itself off after 14 hours, even if you are on the ride up or in freefall. pls correct if im wrong cheers chris
  23. looks like first jumpmaster just pulled students ripcord, container is open but pilot has not yet jumped out of the burble and student is just getting hold of ripcord by mistake. or they both went for the ripcord at the same time. or its a new groundbreaking method in costsaving!!! JM is making sure that student dont drops ripcord when deployment occurs. Honestly, how many of us HASNT done that? I did it, first jump, didnt even notice until JM told me on the ground, she said "thats alright, but next one you pay!" never did it again, hehe chris How would you like to stick with me how much do you love to freefall
  24. I think that in the case im injured (arms), i would be able to pull my reserve handle with either my left and right arm if i have a handle. A soft reserve handle would be much harder to pull with your right arm. So if right arm is out of action, I probably wont be able to pull my main, and then i dont need the cutaway pillow anyway. If left arm is out, i can access all 3 handles easily in whatever order I want depending on equipment. Both arms out....well...its either use your teeth or AAD then... chris How would you like to stick with me how much do you love to freefall
  25. ...per's own words... "My name is Per Eriksson, my nick is PerFlare, and it is me on the video. I'm one of the guy's in the "Off the mountain ..." also. I don't mind guy's watching the video but please do not say it is a fake, it did not feel like a fake when it happend :-) About the reservride (short version): I did some aggressive canopy control at 400m and I had my wingsuit on. I ended up with a linetwist. When I tried to cut away I did not work. I guess that my rig with softhausing was an issue, me wearing gloves another. I took my gloves of and then did a successful cut away. Then I tried to pull my reserve but was unsuccessful because the wingsuit was in the way. when I finally did get my reservhandle out it was a little bit low. I do not have a cypress or a RSL I was just lucky to get a fast opening and lucky enough to miss a big aircrafthangar. As you can see I did a nice landing and did not have a scratch ... What can I say, sometimes you are just lucky!" think andre is just the guy that nicked this clip from headdown.net and then put it on his personal page on 2bizarre...OR he could be jumping with Per...but i could be wrong on both accounts. chris How would you like to stick with me how much do you love to freefall
